When did you first discover the internet world?

In my mind, I didn't have "proper" internet until like 1996 or so, when my town finally, finally installed some local dial-up. Up until then, the only way I'd been able to connect was through some long-distance AOL number, and yeah...during then was the only time I will hear my parents yelling at me to get back on the computer right now, haha.

After my initial reaction of being boggled ("We can use it for as long as we like at once?!"), I'm pretty sure the next thing I did was to search for Final Fantasy-related sites or whatever and started branching out from there. I just remember finding some fansites that I adored and would visit almost every day. But it was just lurking around sites or looking up the occasional strat for a game that I would do. I don't recall getting actually involved in communities at all until a few years later, around 2001 or so.

I don't really recall, to be honest. I do remember using Google to search things, more than likely either Pokémon or Mario. I'd just check out some of the random websites that appeared. I do remember once finding a really old looking site with a bunch of interesting sounding Pokémon themed recipes. And of course, that dial-up tone...!

My family got our first computer in 1999, but we got the Internet in 2000. At first I only played games and looked for Pokemon stuff. And PBS.com lol. It wasn't untill I was around 11 when I started doing more stuff online. Millsberry and Neopets were my favorite sites around 2004 and 2008. Grab.com (an online game community) and Gaiaonline were two of my first forums and is where I started interacting with more people online. When I was 12 I got an email address and AIM and I'd chat with this girl named Sarah from Tennessee I sort of liked and we became really good friends. (She had a boyfriend unfortunately.Though all know is that she could have actually been a pedo in his 40s lol.) That when I became more addiicted to the Internet and now I spend more time in the online world than outside. XD

To be honest, I never did all that much on the Internet until I joined PC. That was when I really started to learn how great the Internet was and all the amazing and fun things that were on it.

I discovered it around fourth grade but back then we didn't really have a good computer. The only way for me to access the internet was through school computers - it was at that time when I discovered Neopets and from then on the addiction grew. Eventually we got dial-up at home and I was obsessed with logging into Neopets, watching anime episodes, and talking to people. Guh the memories.

I was about 5 or 6 - I used to play all sorts of free java games. That was back in the day even before flash games haha. Oh, the memories.

I used to have two laptops and a desktop, but now I'm shortened to one desktop right now. Looking forward to getting a laptop soon though! It has become a necessity since I can't rely on desktop anymore lol.

I was... 8? 7? I had known about the internet prior to this age, back when I had little conscious and only cared to play games on Cartoon Netork's website or on the OLD Pokémon website. But it wasn't until I was 8 or so that I personally took a step into Google and found what sites awaited me. I remember visiting Psypokes, PokemonPalace.net (now stripped of its former glory), and occasionally Serebii. Eventually, 08/09, I found out that the internet stored creativity. It stored and unprecedented level of freedom I hadn't yet known of or imagined before. I found these Pokémon hacks, the first two I believe I found was the crap known as ChaosBlack and Ruby Destiny. After discarding ChaosBlack from my mind, I hunted down (sorta) RD and found this forum. This website was the very first site I ever made an account on, and I still come around here, to take a gander despite not being that active.
Heheheh... That was more like a story on how I found this site x3

I was 4 years old when I first got onto the Internet. The first thing I did on the Internet? Go to Cartoon Network's website to play games. Oh how the times have changed.

I've known about the existence of Internet since I was six or so; my mom would allow me to use her computer occasionally to play some games online. When I truly got addicted, though, would be when I was nine; was doing some research on Google about something, ran into a forum, joined, and haven't looked back ever since. I don't regret it one bit, to be honest; it's helped me a lot in when it came to improving my reading skills, as well as writing.

Sixth grade! I think we had dial-up prior to that, but I don't ever recall even using a computer. I do remember the day my father came home with the Verizon modem, and connected everything (lol wires) and my first time was... forgettable. As in I don't remember. :x Pokecommunity was the first real online social thing I did, though. Facebook didn't come to me for another 2 years.
