It means that is the Pokemon's habitat, if you mean the 'Area' map in the PokeDex.

It means the pokemon is in a cave

    Actually, here's what it means.

A blue dot/area means the pokemon simply exists in that area. If it's red, then that means it's a special event you must do, say, for example, the pokeradar. The other example is the honey tree. Those are the only two I know, and I'm still unsure about Gible.

Wait.. doesn't the colours just refer to its rarity in that area? IIRC Staravia came up with a red dot on the Pokemon Mansion and you don't have to do anything special except walk into the grass for it.

It seems logical at first that it involves rarity, but considering how much you can find using the PokeRadar, it voids the reason entirely, which brings to what Abyay says and how it involves another event in order to find it which makes more logical sense.

That deems true. But with the Staravia case, (this is if my memory serves me correctly), it was red too. Which wouldn't correspond with this as you only have to walk into the grass field without having to trigger an event can thus having it appear like a normal Pokemon.

Gible is in a secret cave area aka wayward cave except a secret entrance Its uncommon though so dont get upset when you run into loads of bronzors and zubats. But its under the cycling road bridge to the far left theres a secret path that leads into a new cave and STRENGTH is required to get a good distance in the cave also theres an earthquake TM in there.

I don't honestly know the question to your answer.. Sorries. D:

I found a red squared poke odd, I wanted a shiny ralts male to get a blue gallade I got a ralts male just not shiny sadly anyway I couldnt find them EXCEPT by PokeRadar it was red not blue as well it was Night time so maybe It signifies PokeRadar only or Night time only or maybe theres no significance at all.

Believe me; my answer is fully logical because I've done research with it. Red means that pokeradar, honey tree, or some other "special" event must be done.

Well I believe its special event if it includes the time of day being part of the special event b/c only way to find ralts is pokeradar at night

Don't you mean the answer to their question? o.O

Anyway, I guess it depends on the rarity, but not just that. I mean, rarity can mean it appears not too often in the grass, or that it's in a honey tree, or that you need the Radar. Those would be red. That's my thought, I have nothing to confirm with.

so it means from the rarity of the pokemon. for example i caught carnivore in my first go for searching it and its a red dot on map so that means red dot means it can either be rare if common

It means a cave.. Nothing else..

    Blue - Outside
    Red - Cave/Dungeon Etc.. [Inside]

I was meant to post here earlier, but I kinda forgot. X.X

I checked out my Pokedex and I now agree with ABYAY. Practically everything that you find requiring you to do something else, does come up red.

Simple proof is Chansey. It shows up both red and blue. Blue in the wild on the route and red for the Trophy Garden.

You mean Carnivine, right? It's red because you used the Great Marsh, i.e. some sort of event. Coincidentally, Carnivine's actually rare to find.
