I think that people are forgetting that Nintendo said they wanted BW to be aimed at the International audience not just the Japan...

Thats most probably a cheap marketing trick, well take this into ur nyc theories: they make it in america so that they expand their audience there.
(the other theory is that they put computer viruses in b/w cartridges to overturn american government)

I don't think America would really be considered "expanding their audience." But that's just me.

Im sorry for responding to him, but i havent really gotten offtopic, i just stated my opinion in my first post, and i think there is nothing off in there.
I did react in my 2nd post but i deleted it.
P.s. @coolnick37: arguing with a mod is NEVER a good idea.
O.o i didnt argue! What, i just apologized for my previous post :O
i'm just warning you, chill.

...actually, you could have left it without replying, but as I said, I'll just be watching, it wasn't an official warning. As for dieter57, saying that isn't necessary, considering he technically didn't argue and you steered the topic away from the main discussion.

Jeez, I never knew this would be a topic that caused so much argument!

On Topic: Well, has anyone noticed that the other regions are based off of larger areas, and not just a single city? I mean, it's a little strange especially since ishuu is passed off as so big... There seem to be a lot of areas that look like this. Are there any ones that could be a similar size to the real life versions of the regions? I think it would be funny if it was just all of a sudden proven to be somewhere in Europe XD

Everyone is just basing Isshu off a city. It's more than a city for sure.
Well, they couldn't just have it as one big city (well, y'know...), but it makes sense to keep some of the features, and have a representative "town" of the city. At least to me.

Ehhhh, I'm a believer in creative license. It doesn't have to be so literal.

Has anyone actually tried to send GF an email to settle this arguement?

But then that would spoil all the debate and discussion xD
Besides, who knows if they'd even want to tell us.

You never know unless you try and even then, it would probably settle the arguement and the flaming.

But I don't think this is really much of an argument and I've seen no real flaming. I like to hear what other people think about it. Ah well, this is rather off topic and COULD actually start an argument.

  • Liberty Island with a tower holding the Victory Pokemon : a reference to World War II.

But... why would they reference World War II, in a Japanese game, when that was the time America bombed Japan...

Seems like a very sensitive thing to include in a Pokémon game :\

GF actually never acknowledged that any of the ex regions were based on real life places, so I dont believe they would admit even that the former regions were based on japan.

lets stop then. on a side note, here: https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ds/irbj/index.html is a closer, better map of Isshu.
If anyone needs translation, dont hesitate to ask.

EDIT: to get to the map, click the button thingy blow reshiram and the 'pokemon black' sign.

Could u maybe post the pic, i cant seem to get it :P stupid meh. Some video jumps up when i click on it

I'm guessing you didn't read above huh?
Well it's very possible that it isn't a reference to World War II, but it seems awfully coincidental not to be. Here's what makes me think so, it was posted by Volroc earlier on in the thread :

Wikipedia said:
During World War II, the statue remained open to visitors, although it was not illuminated at night due to wartime blackouts. It was lit briefly on December 31, 1943, and on D-day June 6, 1944, when its lights flashed "dot-dot-dot-dash," the Morse code for V, for victory.

It could be Japan's way of saying "It's okay, we're not mad anymore."

Someone said that above as well, but I thought I'd repeat it because I like the idea of it.
I do understand where you are coming from though.. it does seem to push it a little and could be hurtful to someone else in Japan. Hm...

What argument..? o.o
I'd say everyone's being pretty civil to each other.

But I don't get it? Who is getting passionate? xD

Either way, I don't think it would be SO crazy for them to reference WWII in Pokémon, if any of you ever look at the Origin of Pokémon articles on Bulbapedia, you'll see that they really do put a lot of thought and make subtle references about nearly everything.

...Oh, WW1. I think we might end up a little off-topic if this discussion does continue, so try to head back in the "where is Isshu" direction.

Well, if that's the case with the whole 9/11 thing, that desert is kind of where ground zero was/is.

What o_O It would be in Hiun city... considering that's most likely based on NYC.

Also! That is getting into sensitive grounds. Sooo we're all going to head away from that and instead head back to the usual Shanghai vs New York discussion :) Or any other place you think may be Isshu.

[ starting to believe NY, fyi... ]
