Which design of Red do you prefer?

    Original design, by FAR. From another thread:

    I get why they gave Red a drastic makeover in FRLG. His original design made him look similar to Ash, and it's obvious that they wanted to make the characters more distinct from one another. But, Red's original look is just too iconic, and it's not like he was actually copying Ash (more like the other way around). It's still hard for me to imagine him with brown hair; the old look just suits him so much better.

    ...in sprite form. It just looks so much better than his official portrait; his face is way too small for his head.
     
    His RBY appearance makes him like a bit like Ash, but it does look better. I definitely like his sprite form better than the portrait.
     
    FRLG. He looks confident, as opposed to the RBY one who looks arrogant.
     
    It's almost a little unfair to compare the official artworks, because the quality of the FRLG art is much better than the quality of the RBY art. Here are a couple of fan made arts of the original outfit in the newer art style.
     
    I like the new one much more than the old one! The FRLG art looks good in general!
     
    The new one is better IMO.

    I prefer almost all the new designs over the old ones, actually. Art actually evolves.

    But they're actually very different. Old Red is more Eastern, new Red is more Caucasian/indifferent.

    I don't think the quality corrupts it enough to make the differences noticeable. They definitely have a different appearance and quality doesn't really distort that if you ask me.
     
    I like the costume in the old one, but I am more fond of the art style in the new one.

    Hmmm....... Very hard to Pick.

    But if I had to pick, i'll go with the new one. SKinny suits red better 8D

    Seeing as a lot of people in this thread are automatically picking the newer one just because of the cleaner art style, I have to disagree.

    (If Red ever gets redesigned again, they'll probably start defaulting to that one, instead, just because of the art style. To them, newer is always better, no matter what, even if it's an objectively hideous or otherwise, OOC design like Lyra or the "makeovers" HGSS gave Sabrina, Clair, Karen, and Lance. :rolleyes2:)

    How do you know they're picking it just because of that? Prove it to me.

    RBY Red, Since i always imagined Red with black hair and it doesn't feel right changing it to brown now. I know that they wanted to update Red but still... i think they could had done it better.
     
    FRLG definitely. When it comes to sprite work I think they're both pleasing to the eye, but as for official artwork I have to go with frlg. I think his hair color should of stayed black because I envision him with black hair, but the color palette and the way the face was handled looks better. He looks calm, cool, and collected.

    I think fan made art of original style red usually look good, but the ones posted in here look really bad imo
