Why do people want sequels instead of remakes of R/S/E?

Honestly with the direction Pokémon is going a Red/Blue remake would make more sense. Never heard any speculation on R/S/E sequels though.
Pokemon Orgins seemed to hint at a R/B remake with the whole Mega Evolution thing with Mr. Fugi. But obviously, the series could go either way. I would be cool to see a R/S/E sequel (Ruby 2 and Sapphire 2).

If there is going to be a remake of R/S/E and R/S/E is taking place years before the events of X/Y, then there would have to be a time machine of sorts or something to indicate a time change when you connect with X or Y. And you would have to do something to access this time machine (like beat the elite four and talk to a guy at the Devon Corp).

All in all, I think a sequel would be much more practical. It will help expand the story of R/S/E and may also help explain what happens to Kanto/Sinnoh/Johto/Unova in between Black 2/White 2 and X/Y.

I already played RSE. I want to play a new game. If you want to return to Hoenn, alright, Hoenn was awesome. But the plot of Pokemon is less than nothing, so there is no reason to revisit the plot.

Revisiting Hoenn is good, but lets do new thing while we are there.

Well Hoenn will likely be remade in some form eventually.

First of all, newer players are unlikely to have the chance to experience the story of Hoenn [unless they get lucky at a used game store]

Secondly, remakes so far have always come 2 consoles after the original.

R/B (GB) -> FR/LG (GBA)
G/S (GBC) -> HG/SS (DS)
R/S (GBA) -> ??/?? (3DS)

See how it makes sense now? Though I'm sure a lot of you will still say I'm crazy for speculating about something we still have a chance of not getting.

I've already elaborated on numerous other past threads why there were remakes to the 1st and 2nd Gen Games and why it wouldn't make any business sense to go back to Hoenn. Trading between the DS games and Pokemon Bank sort of nullify the need to revisit Hoenn (from a practical standpoint anyway).

No, the reason why R/S/E don't have a remake is because they don't need it. They are the only Pokemon games that have no fundamental flaws neither in design nor technicality. Same for FR/LG.

They have aged perfectly aside from the special/physical split which don't warrant a remake. It is incredibly easy to play a gen 3 game compared to any other gens because of that.

A sequel could work though but only on the novelty of going back to Hoenn.

I want both rolled into one. The first half being the remake and the second half being new. I never fully played RSE because it came out in my party days and I never could see straight enough to play a game. Still, I want new stuff because a simple remake would seem outdated after playing x and y. That's one reason it's so hard for me to go back and play on my old games.

Plus RSE needs an update for the newer systems, regardless if it's a simple remake or a sequel.

Because sequels would make more sense than remakes. Because Gen III games are still fully compatible with the newer versions. I'd want a 3rdversion like Crystal, Emerald & Platinum more than a sequel tho :)

But a sequel would still be nice :)

I want a sequel and a R/S/E Remake

Sequels are needed because there are a lot of missing things in X and Y (At least IMO) like where's the true power of Zygarde, or what's with the chamber of emptiness. That's why I want a sequel.

I have been waiting for R/S/E remakes for a long time because Hoenn is one of my favorite regions or generations. It's just that, it has some interesting characters and Pokemon, like Steven. I also want to see Hoenn Starters have a mega evolution because it's unfair that blaziken only have the mega evo.

Overall, I want them, I want them to exist. So I guess I want both of them

Just so you know, the OP is talking about sequels to R/S/E, not sequels to X/Y.

Don't we already have Red/Blue remakes?

Marriland said something about how while he did want to go back to Hoenn, he'd want, say, sequel games instead of a full-fledged remake.

Personally, if I were to make RS remakes or such, there is an idea I had thought of that kinda follows BW's, but that's another story.
