If you are still in school or university or something, have you realised people always look down and laugh at people who play pokemon? I mean, why do they hate pokemon so much, its really annoying!
Because they are trolling you fool!

Man.. i know that feeling. i think its becouse people connect pokemon with their childhood, but those people should realise that the game arent for little kids, you gotta be clever.

I know my friend's girlfriend finds Pikachu really obnoxious and isn't really into the whole thing because of that.

Other than that though, the majority of Pokemon hate I've seen has been from people that were huge Digimon fans, and that was back when Pokemon was the "in" thing. My elementary school had huge Pokemon/Digimon feuds.

No one here hates it. I'm openly a fan of Pokemon (I wear a Pikachu necklace all the time at school and my Pokewalker) and it's a pretty good conversation starter. :3

pokemon is based off a kids anime/cartoon is what people who bad mouth alot of pokemon lovers think

its not common knowledge that games inspire TV but its common knowledge that it happens the other way

EV training and IV breeding and all that is made for older people since very few 12 year olds and younger would likely understand how to

hell even me at 25 can't grasp how to do it

Hiding it proves you feel ashamed about it, it's the same with anything. From video games all the way up to your sexuality, if you hide or run away from it, you feel miserable and not like you are being yourself. Be open about it, you don't have to announce it to people or anyone, but if it comes up in conversation, then speak your opinion. It's all about when you talk about it, I love Super Smash Bros, but get tired of hearing people ramble on about it all day. So don't be ashamed about it, but don't go gabbing about it either, that just annoys everyone.

Because ten years ago, they played GSC and never got past Whitney.

And that started the hatred that still exists now.

At uni, I mentioned pkmn when we had to read out what we wrote, but I did it in a funny way, and I'm sure when I access PC at uni, PEOPLE SEE THE BIG FREAKING PICHU/PIKACHU SKIN WHEN I'M NOT LOGGED IN, WHICH IS TOTALLY NOT EMBARASSING. :(((

I try it hide it. :3

this one kid in my class likes pokemon and the other kids make fun of him for it- which is also weird because they all know i play pokemon and i don't get made fun of for it- i'm just going with that they all hate him for other reasons.... well i hate this kid too because he's a total teachers pet yet at the same time he's a d*** to EVERYONE
so i guess when there are reasons to hate someone they make fun of the things thy like?
sorry if that didn't make sense lol

Pokemon is something epic that happened in our generation, and there will be allways people liking it, younger or older... I'm 16 and I still play/see Pokemon and I have a lot of friends that do the same. One of my best friends, 22 years old, is still a lover of Pokemon so as you can see, there is no problem about liking Pokemon. If some hate it, who cares?

I ersonally don't know people who hate them it is just not their cup of coffee probably . I played them since I was 15 years old, and I was sceptical about it at first but It didnt take long till I was totally encapsuled into playing somebody elses okémon red lol. They also had it in school in the purple gambeoy pockets. llol

My view on the matter is that they've gotten accustomed to the more "hardcore" games like Halo, COD, Mass Effect, etc. while failing to realize the true depth of the Pokémon metagame. In fact, in Theology class yesterday, I was working on a Shoddy team, and one of the guys there looked over at my team sheet (thinking I had some stuff that he didn't), and began laughing at how complex the team sheet was (two BP Ninjask and a Spore Punching Breloom, complete with EV spreads and strategies. They realized at that point that competitive Pokémon battling is serious business.

They probably just lost interest in the games once the Pokémon fad in the 90s ended. Some person told me that he used to "play Pokémon when I was, what? 3? Then I stopped." They really have no idea how fun the games are.

I get grief for it at my school, yes, even in 6th grade. There is only a handful of people I can name that I know play Pokemon, and the rest believe they are "mature" because they can scream profanities over Xbox Live while completely "beasting" "noobs". I really hope these idiotic shooters are another fad that everyone will hate once they're gone with. Oh, and this is just another reason why I hate Microsoft. They're all evil, I tell ya! Evil!

I think a lot of people associate it with their childhood, and they assume that just because they enjoyed it then, it isn't still enjoyable. I kind of understand that, I mean... if I were to watch most shows that I watched when I was five, I would be bored stiff, or be wondering how I found it good, and the same with most games I played then, but with Pokemon there's actually a lot more depth than people assume. I think a lot of people try to be all mature and stuff, but I re-introduced my friends to it by mentioning it every so often, and I've started rewatching the whole series - it's a lot better than I remember from when I was younger!
I guess it's the same as anything, people don't like it because of some pre-concieved ideas from before they even play or watch it. Sure, it's not realistic, sure it's still got sprite graphics instead of CoD or whatever where you can see a lot more detail, but that's what makes it so wonderful - the pure innocence of running around catching cute little things, even if there is violence in it, the worst you can really do is make a pokemon 'faint'. It's designed for kids but it's enjoyable for everyone - some people want something that's 18+ just so that they can feel cool playing it.
That's my opinion anyways.

Same reason I don't like CoD. I mean a game just about shooting? And wars. It's a matter of taste, and the way people handle things. I'm not mister Popular in school, neither mister UnPopular however, I play Pokemon Crystal on my Phone and make a show of it, at times. My friend(s), by this I mean one of them in particular, makes mild fun of it. He even said he used to play it in Year 2 on his GameBoy Color. I don't mind people making fun, I ignore them. Plus I'm tall and lean so you can;t really pick on me ;)

To be honest, Ive never had a problem with people giving me and problems about it.
All my mates know I have the games and whatnot.
In saying that though, it is considered to be a 'kiddies' thing, which is fine with me.
I dont care about the category it falls in, thats not for me to decide.
Its personal preference, if you like it, do it.
Simple as that.
