Why Genwunners are bad

Hi friends,
Why Genwunners are bad in Pokemon?

This topic belongs over in Pokemon General, so I'm going to move it there, where it belongs.

Genwunners aren't bad, per se, their attitudes towards Pokemon not released in Red/Blue/Green/Yellow are what are not liked. Though the "genwunner" hate has kind of chased away any would be genwunners from most segments of the fandom because they're unfortunately met with hostility from a minority of other Pokemon fans.

yeah there's a real difference between "genwunner" and "person who likes gen 1 best". "genwunner" i think is basically someone who hates everything that isn't gen1 simply BECAUSE it isn't gen1. like they think everything after "ruined pokemon". i dont like that attitude. it's really rude and genwunners tend to be realt snotty about their opinions and never actually legitimately defend their points? wheras people who just like gen1 best recognize that there is merit in the rest of pok?mon and focus more on the posiives of their preferred generation rather than the negatives of the others.

I always viewed Genwunners as the snotty type of Kanto fan since they defend everything from the generation so much that they claim everything afterwards has ruined the franchise. People who list Kanto as their fave but openly express respect for others' opinions are the more nice type of Kanto fan to deal with.

I feel that with both GO and Sun & Moon's release, I barely hear any Genwunners around since I guess the Kanto appeal factor with both games (former being initially Gen 1 only and latter having Alolan Forms that are exclusive to Gen 1 Pokemon) ended up being a successful move on Game Freak's part. Now there's the next Pokemon movie as well, which instead of following tradition of taking place in the region the current saga is in, is instead a retelling of Ash's beginning due to 2017 being the 20th anniversary of the anime.
