Why? Why did you make that?

    Ever saw a thread and just sat there and thought "What the hell, why would someone do that?" yeah? Or you see someones post and you just kinda don't understand why they even bothered to put it? (Such as "lol <fillerfillerfillerfiller>)
    Discuss.

    Now I'm not being funny or anything but I do it when people post things like 'Earthquake in *whereever*'. It's sorta like, well, just posting with sad faces isn't gonna do much is it? And we all know about all these earthquakes, hurricains or whatever from the media. And I don't see what discussion can come from the threads, other than '3:' 'Sucks man' 'Awh I wish I could help them' etc.

    And I swear down on my nipples, if someone replys with 'Yeah I did it when I saw this thread' or anything like that I will track them down with a goddamn flamethrower.

    It's to inform everyone that never saw television in the last week or talked to anybody.

    I still don't see the point in it.

    Maybe, instead of all these scattered annoying little threads, someone should just make a big thread for all of these little news updates. Save my eyes from scanning through to find a thread I see a point in replying to.

    And you could have atleast answered the question -_-;;

    There was a thread not long ago that made me stop and wonder, but everyone has their reasons for being curious about one topic or another (though whether they are good reasons is another issue). If no one else is interested in something the thread dies and that's that. I don't see the problem.

    Fine, since you want to be like that.
    They were curious. It is both the curse and boon of humanity to wonder how objects work and finding the diversity of opinion in humans. Is that better? >:<

    Most of my threads make people question how sane I was while making them.

    Some people like to discuss large, repercussive developments in the world, aka global news. A major earthquake which takes a large human toll and causes massive property destruction and general distress is a Large Development.

    And I don't see what discussion can come from the threads, other than '3:' 'Sucks man' 'Awh I wish I could help them' etc.

    "Here's a good way to donate if you're interested..." "I think the government is going about this the wrong way, if I were in charge I would..." "Have you guys heard this story? [newslink]"

    or even maybe "I work for a charity foundation/search-and-rescue/live in the affected area, here's what's going down"

    This is why news discussion on an internet forum is so awesome - you have the opportunity to receive and share information and learn about the experiences of people stationed in different parts of the planet. Soyeah.

    To answer your actual question, yes I have experienced that sensation before but not generally with newsposts, especially those concerning major global events.

    Agreed, the little news threads due piss me off.. I could just see them off yahoo.. Anyways I see it in alot of those type of threads in other forums I go to

    People just want a place to express their opinions...

    Is that such a problem?

    Here I'll put forward some of my opinions:

    I am a Georgist Humanist Liberal Dysteleologist. I am anti-abortion. I am pro-nuclear. Iam pro gay marriage. I am pro bigamy. I am pro-euthanasia. I am pro stem cell research. I believe in aliens, but not ghosts. I believe in animal rights, but not enviromentalism.

    You see what I am doing here? I'm sharing my opinions in the hope that someone else will have the same or similar opinions so we can commune with each other to further our relationship has human beings and in the end come out of it as enriched individuals. Or I hope someone else has differing opinions, so can enjoy the heat of the debate and perhaps change my own opinions about that certain subject.

    I have put "commune" in bold for a reason. We are on a pokecommunity! We are all here because we enjoy some aspect or another of the pokemon franchise/universe/whatever. Now if we just talked about pokemon and nothing else, while that would still be good, it wouldn't give us a chance to express ourselves further than "Oh I really like Altaria!" and wouldn't enrich us as individuals but instead we would just be a group of people who liked pokemon. There would be no diversity and no communing with each other. Do you get what I'm trying to say here? Discussing these current events allows us to feel more human. That other people sympathise with or disagree with or think similarly to ourselves. By building our relationships with other people we become better people. In the words of the drearyest poet ever, John Donne:

    "No man is an island."

    We all have the right to express our opinions and to agree and disagree with other people when we wish. This enriches us and the community as a whole. Discussion makes us human. Emotion makes us human. We want to show that we too feel emotionally about a subject or event. We all do.

    ~Thank You and sorry for rambling on a bit~

    With all do respect i like it because i hate hunting down some things and most of the time if i wanna see some news bulletin i gotta track it down or turn the tv on and wait for all the other dumb stuff to finish before i can see what i might be interested in. I don't really mind it ya know. But its true what one of the posters said about this being one of those type of threads. I just say live with it or change the rules :P

    No, I can't imagine what must be going through some peoples' minds when they decide to make an utterly ridiculous post or topic. Truly.
    Ugh, yeah, this.

    Captain Fabio tried that, nobody posted. I don't think people liked the fact that he mocked them because they kept making stupid "sad news" threads. Maybe people like making these threads, idk.

    I dunno. In honesty, I used to get a lot of my random news updates from PC, and it made for interesting conversation at times. xD;
    But in seriousness, I have questioned a lot of things, such as 'aw that sucks. fillertextfillertextfillertext' <- I actually saw a post EXACTLY like that and thought it was pretty ridiculous if I do say so myself. Is it really all about trying to raise your post count with unintelligent (in my opinion, anyway.) useless contributions? -shrug-

    Sometimes I wonder why some people are as annoying as they are on here, but oh well. Not much I can do about that.

    As for the question, I often do. I won't go into detail, but I do.
