5th Gen Will they have a Pokéwalker or a similar accessory for generation 5?

No, probably not. The pokewalker was just a littlle thing to make kids get up an do stuff. Or tape it to a fan, but same thing. It was actually mainly a remake of some Pikachu thing where you got watts and items to send back to G/S (sound familiar?) I'm pretty sure the walker also went aong with your pokemon walking with you, which seems to be missing. Whatever the case, I think I'll be fine with the new internet features. I'm sure no one will miss their precious pokewalker...

I wish they would, but they probably won't. Black and White is due out in Japan in under a month, and if memory serves me right, the Pokewalker was one of the first features of HG/SS to be announced.

But maybe RockHardSemi is right and the old Pokewalker will be compatible with B/W. I doubt it, but I can hope.

Yeah, they seem to be selling the Global Link quite a lot. It looks similar to the Pokewalker from what I saw, just instead of the Pokewalker it's on your computer.

I also thought about your first point, I'd of thought it would be transmitted from the game.

Having said all this, the only thing I've personally heard about Black and White is just that, the titles of the games. As well as a brief video demonstrating the Global Link, though it was in japanese so I couldn't understand what they were saying.

idk the pokewalker was nice because it actually made me exercise ;)

Does the Pokéwalker already have data for the Pokémon inside it? i.e. are all the pictures of the Pokémon in the device already? Or, are Pokémon pics transmitted from the game itself? If the Pokémon images are built into the Pokéwalker, and they haven't built any way of adding new data to it, then the Pokéwalker will NOT be forwards-compatible with Black and White.

And by the way, if they were bundling anything with BW, don't you think we'd be made aware of it by now? It was just some extra incentive for HG/SS, but it was promoted like crazy months before release. We're now one month before release and we have nothing.

The Pokémon Global Link is probably the closest you'll get to "the extra device."

Seriously.

well, just that, what yous are saying: the pokewalker was promoted like crazy when it was first released and now the global link is. you say that probably means that the pokewalker is not gonna happen because it's not being talked about like it was for hg/ss but that's just it. it was new then, now it's not. so, this doesn't necessarily mean there will be no pokewalker, but it could just mean people've already heard of the pokewalker so don't care; the global link is new though so that has to be made into a big deal.

so the pokewalker is very possibly still going to be here

...well, hopefully the makers of the pokewalker weren't stupid (lol?) and thought of the upcoming black/white as they were making it. it wouldn't be too surprising if the pokemon pics were transmitted from the games themselves. I mean, that's just it, they're only pics. no move data, no level data, no nothing. the move data and level data and everything are inside the actual game (probably and very likely). so it is very possible it would be forward compatible.

true, none of the pokemon from the pokewalker are black and white pokemon, they're all gen 1 and 2 pokemon, but>>>>> remember when you first got your pokewalker, you had to sync it with your game? well why would you have to do that? I mean, when you transfer pokemon or items with say the link cable (old days) or wirelessly (now), you don't have to sync the to systems together (I don't think). so what's so different about the pokewalker?

well I'd bet the makers of the pokewalker weren't stupid (lol?) and thought forward to the black and white games they were probably already making. I'll bet (and hope) that once black and white come out you can sync the old pokewalker to the games and the game wiill program the black/white pictures into the game. then when you hook it back up to the game, same as now, the pokewalker will deposit the pictures (and whatever small amount of data the game needs to recognse them) and the game will put levels and moves on them. just like they probably do now.

wow I just thought of this stuff now. this is really making me hope for the pokewalker so much more! :D

I found the pokewalker really boring after like 3 days. Left an Eevee in there to rot. I hope hat if it does come back it could be a little more fun.

they're all gen 1 and 2 pokemon
And Generation III and IV.

Though I love the Pokewalker and use it more than the actual game, I'm leaning towards the "it's not coming back" thought camp. The Pokewalker was a "remake" of the Pokemon Pikachu 2 for G/S/C, with the Watts, walking, and transferring between the device and the game for prizes. It would make more sense for something brand new to be added to B/W, to push it more, and to have a remake of something added to the games for the game remakes. We would have heard of it by now. What we did hear of is the Global Link, and that's the new addition used to help sell the games.

I honestly couldn't care less if they do or do not; I don't really get why most people love it or rave about it? I just don't use it; it's nothing to write home about quite frankly. I dunno, I still have mine and never bothered to use it simply because... idk, I just don't. So if BW comes with one, it'll prolly sit and collect dust just like the one from HG. XD

well idk some pokemon are pokewalker-exclusive (or at least you can get them earlier with it), it gives good items sometimes, and it makes you exercise! what's not to love/rave?

I think they'll make something similar to the PokeWalker in B/W. If they do, maybe they'll make it so that you can:
-Choose how many watts are transferred when you connect it to the game (all the watts would be transferred in HG/SS)
-Make it so that the same PokeWalker can be registered for multiple B/W cartridges.

But I do agree to the fact that it was originally created so that Pokemon gamers would be more active.

which I love :)

it seems to be working. ...at least for the people who aren't lazy who can't got off the couch, and instead just shake it :/

I dont think theyll make anything like that. I think if anything that will be saved for the third gen. Well us who pre-order the games, do get a toy... "A sound thingy"
