Will you be able to choose a second set of starter Pokemon?

In Pokemon X and Y, you were able to choose from the Kanto line of starter Pokemon. Do you think you'll be able to choose from perhaps the second generation of Pokemon, or maybe even the third? Or do you think we won't be given this option at all?

There were no starters in the Pokedex leak, so I don't think we'll get a second set of starters to choose from. Or at least, not in the main narrative.

I don't think so. Mainly because... (spoilers below)

according to the data mined Pokedex, none of the other starters were in it. Meaning that probably none of the starters are available early on in the game. Sure, it wasn't the whole Pokedex, but I still find it unlikely.

I also feel Game freak would have at least hinted towards it by now if it was in it.

Post-game it could be likely. They do seem to be commemorating the Kanto Pokémon for the 20th anniversary, it wouldn't surprise me if we received one from Oak's cousin. I'd prefer it if we were either given an option to which set we're allowed to take one from, though.

In ORAS, you were able to get a starter from each generation every time you beat the pokemon league. So I can see us having to make it so far in the Battle Tree and eventually getting 1 starter for each generation.

Or certain conditions have to be met. So say, if we beat Red and Blue, we get a Kanto Starter. If we beat Wally, a Hoenn Starter, and if we beat Cynthia, a Sinnoh starter. Ect.

So we may not get one during the story, which I found fairy annoying to be honest, but after the story, we will.

I think Blue's post would be the most probable - Kanto starters to commemorate the 20th anniversary. As much as I don't want Kanto starters I feel it'll be what Game Freak are constantly thinking of as a likely second set of starters.

However, since we did have Kanto starters given to us in X/Y, I feel we'll have to rely on Pokemon Bank to get any additional starters this time around.

I am with colours, the first thought of "a second set of starters" keep shouting to me-- Sinnoh starters!

But in ORAS, we were given Johto, Sinnoh and Unova's trios too, atop the Kanto ones we received in XY (As well as Hoenn of course starting out with the Hoenn trio and Kalos the Kalos's), but post-game. I guess it'll be the same!

In the post-game we may be given some, to help players complete their Pokédex. But I doubt we'll get any during the main story. We got Kanto starters during the story of XY because they were given Mega Evolutions, but there are no new Megas in SM, and no starters got Alola forms, so in that sense there's no reason to be given another starter during the story.

I can imagine we'll get to choose from a set of starters in the post-game, but not in the main story. I really want the Hoenn starters though, that would make me so happy haha.
