Would you give your life to cure cancer?

My life would suck without you

Say a cure for cancer was found, but the only way for it to be useable is if you gave your life (and for those people who are anti-hypothetical it only works if you agree so no one will kill you and once the cure has been taken out, it can be reused). Would you take your life?

And yes I did see this on fb.

No way, but I hope the Taliban does...

No; disease is a natural component of life on Earth, and I am frankly not the noble self-sacrificing type.

Lol just because cancer is natural doesn't mean we should turn into a bunch of hippies and say it's wrong to cure it.

But no I wouldn't. Call me selfish but I wouldn't give my life for anything.

Cancer causes a lot of pain and suffering and I think that after some time thinking about it I would probable agree to this. I'm assuming that in this scenario I'm the only person who could make it work. Otherwise I'd most likely let someone else do it. I'm also assuming that it's a cure for all cancers. Not that I'd necessarily opt out if it was just for one type of cancer, but it would be something important for me to know before I made my decision.

I don't think it's morally objectionable (ie. wrong), just that it ultimately does us harm.
For as long as we cannot leave Earth and lack diseases or predators to keep us in check, the resultant size of our population will have increasingly profound effects. The most extreme result could be us having to cull ourselves — terribly ironic.

    NOO DON'T LEAVE SCARFY V___V

No way I'd agree to this. My ambitions end if I die.

I would probably settle all of the matters in my life and when I got very old I would give my life.

I actually agree with your opinion. But I object with one thing actually. We are talking about cancer here, which is one of many uncurable diseases. Yes, they keep us from overpopulation, but they are only one of many others. Most of the deadly diseases like current viruses have grown immune to cures, increasing death rates and confusing many and etc. Natural disasters and parasites exist.

Besides...to answer the question, not really.

No. I wouldn't feel anything from using my life to save people from cancer. I'm sure a lot of people will give up their lives for it.

No. It's a disease and it's one we created on top of that. (As to my knowledge) Instead of typing out a large paragraph, I'll just sum it up saying that the human population needs a 'leveling out' so to speak.

Yes I would because my life to save however many other people in my opinion is a fair trade. I have had lots of people in my family get cancer and seen how horrible a disease it truly is. Also saves my kid from being able to get cancer.

    Hmm...

I didn't say yes right away... I'm kind of surprised.

I did think about it for awhile, but in the end, I would. My mom got dentures recently, and just being around her is killing me, because I know how much pain she's in... If I could help people on that large of a scale, I wouldn't hesitate to do it.

I do believe every individual life is very important, especially my own, but we're still weighing 1 life against millions.

Do you yourself have that cancer disease...?

Anyways no, sorry but even if I'm giving up my life to save a million others, I still don't want to. But they can use the cure once I die by myself naturally.

Isn't cancer the uncontrolled growth of mutated cells in the body? Wouldn't that mean that cancer is technically not curable? Using that logic, I'd say no, as to completely cure cancer, you'd need to stop cells from multiplying which would be bad.
