• Okay, you know that Dark Void ONLY puts the opposing team to sleep right? I think I would still need SOMETHING more than just that! ;-) (It's only Darkrai that actually drains the sleeping pokemon because of it's ability, but Dark Void in and of itself does nothing but put the opposing team to sleep)

Yes i know what it does :P but the fact it's main use is in triple battle, you obviously got 2 other pokes to sweep the sleeping & defenseless team xD!

but if you're using smergal in Single battle.. obviously lose the Dark Void and it's 80% Accuracy and replace with a 100% accuracy sleep move like spore, and if you're wanting dark void because grass is immune to spore.. just teach smergal Flamethrower/fire blast/heat wave to take care of the pesky grass types instead..

Thank you, I genuinely mean that, but I was hoping for more imagination than just what other people use in battle, that's the whole reason I'm avoiding Smogon message boards because it's just parrots repeating things they've been told. I was hoping for some creative usage of Smeargle, not JUST "Dark Void and let other team members attack the opponents" because I don't plan to only do triple battles and nothing else. And why use Flamethrower or Fire Blast when it can learn Blue Flare or Sacred Fire. That's what I'm getting at, I want creative, imaginative ideas, not the standard "Flamethrower, Thunderbolt, Ice Beam" on everything. This is also one of my many complaints about "competitive" battling sites, no one has any creativity anymore, just the same 5 move sets over and over and over. This isn't directed at you personally, but I am just looking for inventive ideas and that has been REALLY lacking in a lot of pokemon sites the last little while unfortunately. Smeargle can learn almost ANYTHING so we need to be able to think up some cool ideas, not just throw on interchangeable movesets on everything. I haven't really done hardcore moveset planning since Gen 3, so I'm very out of the loop and I would have thought in that 8 - 10 year time people would have thought up some really bizarre or amazing or mind blowing combinations for pokemon, especially Smeargle, but I guess when the bible web site that everyone always refers to to tell them what to do keeps banning half the moves no one has really had a need to be creative since every move set that could be devastating is banned.

EDIT: After typing about the legendary signature moves, I started thinking about a Dark Void + Geomancy + Oblivion Wing move set. Still want to keep Transform, but I might change transform to Draining Kiss to counter the resistance to Dark Fairy and Fighting type moves that hinder Oblivion Wing) Obviously ANYTHING with physical moves will KO it, so I'd definitely like to hear more ideas

How long can you be frozen? My Sableye was frozen for FIVE TURNS!! Stupid Ice Beam, I can say I have never froze things with that move. But other people use it in me, I freeze. Every. Single. Time.

False, Xerneas is the #1 most common fairy-type I encounter on Battle Spot. So it is probably the best representative for the type in my opinion.

Well, of course; it's an easily obtainable legendary. But it isn't representative of Fairy-types, precisely because it is a legendary and hence overpowered. We weren't talking about Xerneas counters, we were talking about Fairy counters in general. The fact that it's everywhere in Free Battles is neither here nor there.

How long can you be frozen? My Sableye was frozen for FIVE TURNS!! Stupid Ice Beam, I can say I have never froze things with that move. But other people use it in me, I freeze. Every. Single. Time.

You can be frozen forever, technically. There's a 20% chance of thawing each turn.

EDIT: Oh, and using Flame Wheel, Sacred Fire, Flare Blitz, Fusion Flare, or Scald thaws you out.

    1) Thunder wave is to Paralyze, Will-O-Wisp is to burn, Toxic is to poison, is there a move that just freezes, or if only damaging moves are there any that have a high percentage of freezing?

Nope, there's no move that has 100% Freeze chance. And I believe all moves that do have a chance of freezing are 10%, except Tri Attack which is 6.67%.

    2) Paralysis lowers speed, Burns lower Attack, does Poison have any additional effects? (Besides toxic which just does higher damage the more turns that pass)

There are many Pokemon with Abilities that activate upon being poisoned, and there are moves that have increased power when the user/target is poisoned, but there is no universal effect like for paralysis and burn.

    3) What's your CHEAPEST or most powerful or impressive moveset for smeargle?

I've been working on a team that revolves around exploiting Critical Hits, and Smeargle is a potential member, although I haven't tried it out yet. Its moveset would be: Focus Energy, Quiver Dance/Shell Smash, Spore, Baton Pass. The strategy would be to use Spore first, then Focus Energy, then Quiver Dance/Shell Smash if possible, and then Baton Pass to Kingdra/Drapion. Kingdra would have the Sniper Ability and be holding Scope Lens to give it 100% Critical chance, and Drapion would have the Sniper Ability and Night Slash and Cross Poison to give it 100% Critical chance.

    Mega Blaziken after event?

Maybe this is a dumb question, but what would be the easiest way to land myself a mega blaziken in pokemon x/y now that the event is closed? Is it even possible? I'm kind of bumming. I started playing pokemon when it was just simple red and blue and I stopped after ruby. I'm not used to all of these extra hoops. I'd like to get the game but I had my heart set on a BA mega blaziken, I don't care which ability he has. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I have both Pokemon X and Y and was able to score two of them, for just such an occasion. I'd be willing to trade you the actual level 10 Torchic with Blazikenite (he always has Speed Boost ability and in a Cherish Ball) after you get something interesting/rare to trade back.

Is it just D/P/Plat that have GBA - DS transfer or do B/W/2 have that function?

    It's just D/P/Pt.

Is there any point in BW or would BW2 cover all bases?

    B2/W2 should be sufficient.

Is there any point getting FR/LG or do later games cover the significant Pokémon?(XY has Mewtwo and birds, along with starters....)

There aren't any Pokemon at all in FR/LG that aren't covered by other games.

Current plan is to get Ruby and Black2 to get as many legendaries as possible.

Remember you'll need a Gen IV game so you can transfer your Pokemon from Ruby to that and then from there to Black 2.

1.How good of a damage will a 5 times(not 1-4) multi dmg do? Low, medium, or high
2.if i use wrap with the item binding band, how good of a damage is that also
    3. Are these multi turn used in competitive battle?

    1) Generally high-ish damage. Just mulitply the base power by 5 to see roughly how powerful it is. For example, Rock Blast has a base power of 25. So 25x5=125 power if it hits all 5 times. That's slightly more power than Fire Blast or Thunder, for comparison. And that's without STAB.

    2) Binding Band increases the amount of damage Wrap, Bind, etc., does every turn. It can take out roughly half to 5/8 of the opponent's HP if it goes 4 or 5 turns.

    3) The Wrap/Bind moves are almost never used in competitve battles. The other multi-hit moves (Rock Blast, Icicle Spear, etc) are sometimes used, but usually only on Pokemon with the Ability Skill Link (like Cloyster or Cinccino), so it always hits 5 times. Otherwise the moves are a bit unreliable.

Ah great, that's awesome! I figured it would be a near impossible to find someone willing to give it up, makes sense if you have two though. Anyways, Howmander or BigSteve, what would you be interested in? I plan on getting Y version by the way.

All gen 4 games can transfer from GBA games that includes also HG and SS not only D/P/Pt

don't forget you ALSO need an original DS or DS lite (I notice a lot of people are glossing over that part of the equation! ;-) ) as the DSi and 3DS don't have a slot for GBA games, so JUST having the GBA games won't help at all, and I never see DS consoles for sale anywhere at all anymore, only the DSi and 3DS/2DS

Now I have a question on this that I'm hoping someone can answer, the whole reason I stopped pokemon at Gen 3 was I heard (a rumour) that when you transfer your pokemon from Gen 3 to Gen 4, you don't just get them, they are transferred into some park or safari like zone and you have to re catch them. That would have been fine except I heard that their IVs are also randomized as well, so basically didn't bother continuing Pokemon once that happened. (that and also the change between move types determining whether a move was physical or special to any type being either physical or special which ticked me off at the time because I had spent SO much time breeding to get the perfect moves I wanted and then suddenly half of them were no longer viable because a powerful physical move on one pokemon was now a special move that sucked) so while my information was from BEFORE the gen 4 games came out, I was just curious, was that true? Were the IVs randomized upon transfer from Gen 3 to Gen 4, or could I have been keeping ALL my pokemon this whole time with their IVs intact had I just kept up with each gen?

well, i don't have any experience on that, but according to Serebii...
Everything about the Pokémon stays the same; Nicknames, Item Attached, IDs, Attacks...everything stays exactly the same as before. So there is no need to worry about losing items, and this is the perfect way to get old items onto your Diamond & Pearl games

So essentially I lost my gen 3 Shinies, perfect (or most likely near perfect) IVed pokemon and some really all around great pokemon for no reason. Sigh. Now I wish I hadn't sold all my GBA stuff!

What would be the best nature for charizard Y? Looking at specialising in special attack and speed?

I have perfect iv charmander (6 across the board) but their natures are hardy, bashful, quirky and serious.

Any tips for a breeding novice?
