well 4 out of 5 iv's were different which tells me that more than likely u can hatch a shiny in this matter as well, so hatch reset should work for this gen as well.

not for 6th gen, for whomever holds it which is good thing

I can only refer to 4th and 5th for this as I stated before, I have not bred any in 6th yet, the everstone needs to be on the right nature ditto you are looking for from the egg, if you save before getting the egg from the DC man and reset if not what you want then try again, let me know if this helps as I am wanting to breed soon myself.

About Masuda Method (Country/Language)

Hi shiny hunters.

So I'm playing a Japanese cartridge Pokemon X in English, and have gotten a JPN marked Ditto from someone. I wonder if breeding the ditto with my own Beldum would still trigger Masuda Method? (My beldum, of course, has no regional markings on its summary as it's my own)

I'm on my 10th box of Beldums now and still not sign of shiny, that's why I'm getting more and more concerned that I'm doing it wrong. (I know it could take as high as thousands of eggs to hatch a shiny but still...)

ROM?

You mean cartridge, or an actual ROM with an R4 card or an emulator?

If you see JAP markings, it indicates that it recognizes your game as ENG and not JAP, so MM would work.

Sorry I meant cartridge.
Well that's what I'm believing, just wanna get confirmation from you guys.

I have been working for quite a while so I haven't had time to reset the gift vivillon for a particular nature until today (I have one in both X and Y) I have reset many times and seem to always get a different nature and just now I got a Timid natured one and was wondering if I can reset for a Modest one. I know I can get an adamant one (which is the whole reason I was trying for a Modest one) but I just want to make sure that that nautre is possible for the Pretty Vivillon before I start resetting again. The sheer number of natures I've gotten I am pretty sure Modest is an option, but I just want to know for sure before I reset this Timid one (cause if you can't get Modest, Timid is pretty good) thanks for anyone who knows for sure!

You can get one with a Modest nature. The way events have always been with natures is either that its fully random and any nature is possible, or that the Pokemon is fixed to one specific nature. Never something in between where some natures are possible while others are excluded. This event is no different, so keep soft resetting until you get one with the nature you want.

Great! Thank you very much for clarifying! Okay, one more question, even Serebii doesn't fully answer this question, but what EXACTLY does Hold Hands do? Is it to raise the happiness of the pokemon? Because as far as I am aware, there aren't any wild double battles, so you need to bring the pokemon who needs their happiness boosted (usually a baby pokemon who needs to evolve, or the rare few pokemon with Return)into trainer battles, which seems needlessly complicated just to raise the happiness of a pokemon. Is there some unknown use for it or is it just to raise happiness?

I'm not entirely sure of what exactly Holding Hands does besides raising happiness. If there is some other hidden aspect to it, idk what it is. There were wild double battles in Gen 5, but they removed that from X/Y. So it seems like Holding Hands is just a needlessly complicated way to raise happiness, like you said. Not the first time they've made a pretty much unnecessary move. Remember how the PokeBank event Celebi came with Hold Back?

I'm trying to breed a Poison Touch crogunk but after 10 and no luck I checked the parents and the father is the one with Poison Touch but the mother is the one that has the egg move I want (Drain Punch) what would be the fastest way for me to get a poison touch croagunk with Drain Punch? Should I just keep breeding them and hope I get lucky, or can the father not pass down the ability when breeding with a female of the same species? Thanks

The male parent can only pass down its HA to the egglings if you pair it with a Ditto.
Otherwise, it can't pass its HA if you pair it with a female parent. =/

So I know in order to see all three Pokémon in their Friend Safari, your friend has to be online. Do they have to be online IN-GAME or just online in general? I've seen people offline both in-game and in general and I still got three Pokémon. I don't get it.

The only requirement for the 3rd Pokemon to appear is that the person has defeated the Elite 4. The thing about both of you being online is for Hidden Abilities:

Bulbapedia said:
All Friend Safaris have three Pokémon that may be captured. Only two of them will be available until the friend to whom that Safari belongs enters the Hall of Fame. All three Pokémon are of the same type, determined by that player's Friend Code. Once the player has been online in-game at the same time as a friend, the Pokémon in that friend's Safari will thereafter have a chance of having their Hidden Ability.

Serebii said:
With each person, you get up to three Pokémon within each specific area, with the third Pokémon slot appearing should the person have defeated the Elite Four, with them getting Hidden Abilities if the player has been online at the same time as you.

So once the player has been online with the other just once, or at the same time?

It's the former. They have to have been online at the same time as you at least once, when that pre-requisite is done then you'll be able to find Hidden Abilities in their safari.

I just IV bred and EV trained a Growlithe for the metagame. When you do a level 50 battle, any Pokémon over that level gets bumped down, obviously. But what about the stats? Is it worth raising a competitively battling Poké over lever 50 if you're just going to do level 50 matches? Do the stats freeze there?

The stats get put to whatever they would be when the Pokemon in question is at level 50. So really there's no need to go over level 50 unless they learn a move after that or s/t

Need Ludicolo with Giga drain! *confused*

My first time trying to get a pretty good team going, but Giga drain is an egg move, Naturally I want to hatch a lotad and level it up that way. Does anyone have any tips for breeding a lotad to give it Giga drain cause I dont know how to. Do i need to obtain one through trade and breed it that way and make sure it gets giga drain? If so anyone willing to trade? *Pokemon Y*
