6th Gen X/Y Third Version Speculation Thread

In turn Serebii got that date from the three directs.

Well today was the 3rd anniversary of XY's announcement and we got nothing as expected.

The marketing plan has to have a point where they announce Z. The question is where that point is. There probably aiming for a point thats significant.

I need help finding something. Are there rumors saying Complete Zygarde will make it's first anime appearance in March? That would be a huge point in the anime.

No such rumors exist at the moment that I'm aware of. Right now the next big date to expect an announcement is the 27th of February...that might change if something comes up about "big news" in Corocoro (or other magazine) or a Direct comes out soon. I remember someone online saying there was going to be a direct this month but couldn't find any confirmation on it (sorry for the misinformation when I mentioned it myself before).

Masuda didn't announce on Jan 8th for a reason. We know Masuda likes dates. Like how he announced ORAS in May as in the player. He released ORAS on the 12th anniversary of RS. That date was just too good there has to be a big reason to pass that up.

I would look at early March. Also your right, announcing on Feb 27th would work for March as well.

There is a Zygarde EX deck along with a M-Audino EX deck and M-Alakazam EX expansion on March 18th. Heres a tweet from Serebii saying Complete Zygarde merchandise rolls out in March.

In Japan May is Haruka. I like to think that it's because the birthstone of the month happens to be Emerald...

Speaking of Complete Zygarde irc it's Picross password will be officially revealed in this month's corocoro.
Also, irc in the issue after Keldeo was revealed they hinted on big news for the following one, and B2W2 were featured (though the variety show revealed them first). Perhaps we'll get hints to look out for next month's issue. Btw seeing Masuda tweet Flygon cosplay from the variety show makes me wonder if it's subtle hinting to a Mega Flygon...

Oh yeah, that's right. I forgot about the Picross code for Complete Zygarde. Since that will show up in CoroCoro next week, I wonder if that means we may get a little more Zygarde info, in some shape or form(that was not a pun I swear) relating to either the movie, anime, or both.

I was also starting to think the same thing about the Flygon cosplays. I may be looking too much into it, but why is there more than one cast member doing it? If it was just one person, I wouldn't be as intrigued as I am now. With that said though, I think that GF may still have some interest in creating Mega Flygon. The fact that they had planned on it and were bummed out that they couldn't come up with a good enough design shows that they're interested in it at the least.

They will also have had like two years to come up with a design by the time 'Z' is likely done, if it isn't already. A Mega Kingdra will also be appreciated so that all the fully evolved Dragons in the Hoenn dex will have megas.
 
To be honest I don't expect a third version, I think an X2 or Y2 might be coming and perhaps another Mystery Dungeon or Conquest-styled game (not gameplay, but in the spin-off style) and after those releases, the end of the 3DS will be near I suppose... 2011-2018 perhaps? 2020 -> Nintendo Network shutdown?

I highly doubt there'll be another Mystery Dungeon game so soon after the last one. The latest Mystery Dungeon hasn't even been released in Europe yet.

I would have thought X2 and Y2 were a likely option before the xy & z anime, but they're focusing so much on Zygarde already and we're only ten episodes in. Team Flare don't seem interested in any legendary other than Zygarde, and they're hellbent on catching Z-1 and Z-2 (the Zygarde cores whose colours correspond to the two different coloured wing things that Complete Zygarde has). Personally i think a Z game is probably the only option at this point, and it's a story with a lot of potential so far. I loved playing X but the story wasn't exactly full of depth. Xerneas was barely focused on at all.

Right now i think we're going to get Pokemon Z or Pokemon Z-1 and Z-2.

i highly doubt the nintendo network is gonna shut down again, the first blackout across the ds's servers is the result of IGN shutting down gamespy.

A Z1 and Z2 would be interesting. As Z2 could potentially be a sequel to the other Z, while Z1 will be a traditional third version to XY. I might even end up buying both if they do it like that.

though this ones kind of odd, because its the only season to start with a special & these mega evolution specials are weird as far as specials go given that most specials are not set up as this big of a side series.

Looking at what Shadow said about the anime, it's possible that the US will see the release of XYZ here by March or April, which is around the time I'm expecting an announcement on the game side of things too.

That would be cool! I would get both games if that was the case as well. But i was thinking that each core would be the mascots for two follow up games. At this point there only seems to be two of them, and their 50% forms most likely combine to form Complete Zygarde. But the two cores must be different in some way, otherwise why bother having two of them? And the colour of the gem things on their bellies go with Xerneas and Yveltal's colouring. Since GF want to keep the games surprising and non-cyclical, a Z1 and Z2 would certainly acheive that.

I'm imagining the two Squishy's as the covers for the new games {XD}

Wait, what is Team Flare doing in the anime that implies the next game(s) will be in another region? It's important to remember that Zygarde's dex entry specifically mentions Kalos , so the main plot will still revolve around Kalos. Perhaps post game we can visit another region. Or maybe the player is from a small region without it's own league and decides to visit neighboring Kalos.

CoroCoro might have some clues towards Z's announcement date.

I think you might've quoted the wrong post, I mentioned a corocoro hint in a previous one.

Anyways I am sure we'll get an announcement before E3 2016.
 
This is going to sound weird, but I hope that they do a little more with Team Flare supposedly spying on Trainers through the Holo Caster. Like... I didn't get it. Why were they doing it in the first place, what did they hope to gain from it? Why do it to almost everybody in Kalos when only the PC had pretty much garnered interest from Lysandre? It just seemed like a random moment in passing when it was discovered.

It might be a reference to the police state. Some believe Team Flare are based on Facists (well specifically Nazi's). XY's plot was badly executed that Malva didn't even feel like a real member of Flare as we didn't see her do anything, likely because her role is linked to the Halocaster in the first place.
 
Here is an interesting fact. Back in August 2013, they announced Mega Blaziken the moment they announced Mega Evolution. Mega Blaziken was even announced before the Mega Kanto starters. They distributed Mega Blaziken with a 3 month gift distribution. They promoted him to the extreme. He was even in the 2nd XY anime episode with a few more appearances after that. By leaving out the other Hoenn starters along with all that promotion, they promoted ORAS months before it was announced.

They are doing the same early promotion with Zygarde but there taking it to the extreme. This time they have a movie, anime series, merchandise, Tretta, Picross, regular Zygarde distribution with shiny Xerneas and Yveltal.
