6th Gen X/Y Third Version Speculation Thread

The only thing that I've heard officially was that the commercial is to encourage fans to "train on", so far TPC hasn't said what is supposed to be in the commercial. But I'm almost betting that it will be Pokken footage with "We Will Rock You" playing as background music, since a fighting game would probably be more suitable to show during a major sporting event... that, and it seems to be the only game with the closest release date in relation to the commercial airdate. GO still has only a 2016 announcement, if it doesn't release until the latter half of this year I don't see a point in them giving us a commercial for it this early.

It looks like we've gotten some additional info on both Pokken and the movie today on Serebii. The mystery 'mon was a Chandelure, and some more support Pokémon were revealed(Magikarp? Are you kidding me?). Also interesting is that a brief summary for the Volcanion movie has been revealed, but yet still no movie title except what they have in place right now(Pokémon XY&Z: The Movie). The only reason I'm bringing these things up in this thread is that it seems we are starting to get more info on Pokken and Movie 19 well before February even starts, so it's starting to make me wonder if the "major announcement" in CoroCoro next month may be related to both GO and "Z" if it does turn out to be game-related in any way. I'm most likely wrong in all of this, but regardless I think the next couple months are going to be really interesting.
It's already said to focus on the movie though.

Movie summary just came out and I haven't seen anything World shacking about it !

Actually Megevolution should be stronger then Primal reversion since Mega Rayquaza defeated Primal Groudon and Kyogre.

It's still not February...so this isn't the big news...

Actually Project Azoth was looking into Infinite Energy irc. There must be a link between it and Mega Evolution. Magma/Aqua seemed to have tried to make the meteorite into a Mega Stone to replace the Orbs or something like that.

I had run across a theory regarding Project AZOTH, Magma/Aqua, and Flare, and they brought up some interesting parallels between ORAS and X/Y. Something about how AZOTH talked about a "beginning and end", and that Flare's files in their HQ talked about a "beginning and end" in regards to AZ and the Weapon. IIRC, Project AZOTH in Aqua/Magma also involved research into the Weapon that AZ used.

Yes it did. The Weapon just like the Drill Magma/Aqua used to pierce the barrier on the Underwater Chamber use Infinite Energy. It seems that Devon, Mauville co. and Magma/Aqua rediscovered it in their research, and likely so did Flare. What's interesting is that the teleportation tiles (irc Lysander mentions them as using IE) use it in Gen I-V games. That might imply that instead of being used for weapons the energy was used for gym puzzles and traps. After all Zinnia just said that in the other universe the weapon wasn't launched, not that the energy didn't exist at all.

Well unless you count Ash actually getting a legendary for once, even if it's just for a couple of days. Why did they give us the movie summary anyway? Wouldn't it be better to not tell us anything to hype us up for it? Then again they do kinda... tend of overhype things. I was thinking the world shaking thing would be game related, but I seriously doubt it.

Concerning Mega Evolution trumping Primal Reversion though.... it's important to note that Mega Rayquaza is so overpowered it's in a tier all by itself. Not even Mewtwo (which has two Mega Evolutions) or even the Pokemon equivalent of Azathoth (Arceus) can match it in power. I'm not quite certain it's fair to say one is stronger than the other considering the Pokemon you're using for reference is currently the strongest Pokemon in existence when Mega Evolved, and there's only two Pokemon that can use Primal Reversion currently (Groudon and Kyogre respectively.) It's also important to note that Rayquaza's Mega Evolution is completely different form all Mega Evolutions introduced so far (It Mega Evolves via being fed meteors and using the move Dragon Ascent instead of Mega Evolving via a Mega Stone like all the others) so even its Mega Evolution is in a catagory all by itself.

It's possible that the Gen IV legendary trio may gain Primal Reversion at some point because each one has a respective orb that gives their respective Pokemon a major stat boost and even makes one Pokemon (Giratina) change forme, but right now it's hard to tell. It would make sense if they did seeing as how each one is the progenitor of time, matter, and antimatter respectively, and they're supposed to be insanely powerful because of that. Makes me shrudder at what Arceus might become....

I don't the the movie has anything to do with anything being 'world shaking' unless it was a literal term for the world shaking in the movie. A movie is never 'world shaking.'

I am almost 100% sure it is talking about a game. Usually terms like 'world shaking' are used on the main games. New pokemon. New Megas. New Generation. With Megalutions they said something similar. And it turned out to be true.

Giratina Origin makes me doubt that they'll use the orbs, unless if their orbs have a different form that allow them to become Primal. In other words Giratina Origin might be in between Primal and Modern.

The Magazine says movie according to Serebii and Pokejungle, so unless if they translated it wrong it's for the movie...

It cans till be related to the game. New megas... new pokemon... or as I said, literal shaking of the world in the movie. Like when Groudon and Kyogre appear, it rains or turns extremely sunny. When Volcanion appears, it could cause earthquakes where it appears.

It might be movie news, but it can still be Third Version related.

I'm not sure if Fanon has true dislike for the PMD games or not, but I have seen others bad mouth the spin offs as if they're the reason why we don't have Z yet. The wait is starting to get on people's nerves, more so those of us outside of Japan. I would say that the Japanese are more used to waits seeing how unlike us they have more gaps between main game releases (their last one in 2011 between the BW pairs, while our last gap while longer than now was back in 2008...eight years is enough for people to forget the long wait that made Gen IV's release schedule a torture (at least it was for me, but then again I skipped DP for Pt, but Emerald was so good that I didn't notice DP until Pt was close to coming out...)).

Isn't the commercial like thirty seconds or so? It'll be a Blink and you miss it moment either way in the ocean of longer Super Bowl commercials. Might even be as big as the first video we had of OrAs, which just showed the mascots and the game's names...
There exists hate for the PMD series? Maybe its the people I play Pokemon with, but they all really like the games just like I do. Outside of the Stadium games, these are the best Pokemon spinoffs. If it really is because that they believe that it drains resources away from the main games, that isn't a valid reason to hate it seeing as how IMO even if its not your cup of tea you could say at the very least it is a very decent game series to hold over from the main games (I see it as better than that, but that's just me).

I think it'll be a Volcanion forme, or a new Pokemon. Could also be Mega Flygon...

meh, theres some amount of hate for all of the games not just the spin offs.

To add on what I had said a few posts ago about AZOTH and whatnot, I keep going back to thinking about what Masuda had said in an interview about ORAS... something about "wanting to tie the games together in a unique way". The quote I'm talking about can be taken into context in different ways, and one of them that I'm thinking of has to do with our next game. What if the next game we get is a collaboration of both a 3rd version and a sequel? Here's what I was thinking... semi-giant list abound.

3rd version aspects of games:
- Zygarde/Team Flare-centered plot, with Mega-Evolution having much stronger ties into it than what was present in X/Y.
- Malva playing a more active role in Flare during the main plot.
- Expanded roles of rivals, although personally I feel like we got too much this time?*
-*Replace them with just having Calem/Serena and Alain. Have Alain as a Mega-Evolution rival while have Calem/Serena as your Pokedex/Trainer rival. Alain is working for Lysandre for research on Mega-Evolution and its connections to the Legendaries, primarily Zygarde. Doesn't realize who he's really working for until the climax, his role is similar to what it is in the anime.
- A little more backstory and character expansion on AZ and Eternal Floette.
- New and/or upgraded mechanics and features, such as a new form of Mega-Evolution for Kalos starters(Ash-Greninja style of form), Contests, and PWT.
- Have all Megas usable in the game, IIRC there's some issue with that in X/Y and ORAS (ORAS introduced Megas previously unavailable in X/Y).

Sequel aspects of games:
- Have Steven and Zinnia from ORAS make an appearance. Steven continues to do research on Mega-Evolution, which is very central to Kalos' plot and the region itself. Zinnia's character and backstory is expanded on from ORAS and is trying to find another way to reunite with "Aster", her lost friend.*
-*The "Aster" that she is referring to may be one of the Zygarde Cores... since "Aster" has been referred to as a female, I'm thinking that Red Core could be female and the Blue Core as male, or vice-versa. Getting the Zinnia-friends-with-Zygarde idea from Bonnie's close bond to Red Core in the anime. Team Flare are after Zinnia because of her knowledge of and bond with Zygarde. You, Calem/Serena, Alain, Steven, and Zinnia help to stop Team Flare.
- The close connections between Kalos and Hoenn(like the giant tree AZ planted in Sootopolis, Devon Corp, Infinite Energy) are expanded on and central to the main plot along with Mega-Evolution and the Legendary Trio.
- Looker's memory loss in ORAS is expanded on.
- Anistar Sundial being part of the plot(see XY&Z anime poster) makes a clearer connection between Mega-Evolution and outer space, which was introduced in ORAS, therefore clearing up plotholes and confusion between X/Y and ORAS origins of Mega-Evolution.

I hope this all makes sense, but nyyyyyiiiiaaaaaaa.....

I think it's possible they mistranslated because the way the tease is phrased is weird English. Didn't it say "earth shaking for the movie" or something?

I'm doubtful that any announcement concerning the movie would be earth shaking, since we already have the plot. Plus, the movie isn't actually released everywhere lol. Ireland haven't had a pokemon movie in cinemas since Pokemon 2000. Could be that they're referring to Volcanion but they've already emphasised how strong he is.

I remember there was similar "earth shaking" teasing just before the announcement of x and y, iirc.

I would love all of this. Especially having Alan as your main rival, because he would actually be a challenging one. Calem/Serena were ridiculously easy to beat even without Mega Evolution.

Well I think the last part is more of a clarification (that needs a comma after shaking). It's not that odd, I've actually seen other phrases like those when I was younger for other stuff.

Well one time they did say that they had "Shocking News" (it was either Corocoro or the show prior to Get Tv), and it ended up being a Pikachu event or something around those lines. Pokémon loves puns, just look at all the Pokémon names... in all languages.

Found what i was thinking about! My Japanese is very very very minimal but i remember at the time people were saying shocking announcement or something along those lines. Anyone good with Japanese?? It's the second post down on the link below, from the 29th of December.

Yes, the Mortality Trio. And Zygarde would be central in all of it too. I forgot about Diantha, which is almost telling and kind of sad of how she was handled in X/Y. I do hope that "Z" fixes that problem so that she does become more interesting. The only reason I thought of Steven though is because of the cutscene in ORAS that shows he plans on traveling abroad and it also involved his ongoing research in Mega-Evolution.

And darn it, I forgot to put more explorable areas in Kalos in that list. Kalos is absolutely gorgeous, and I think they should take full advantage of that by expanding it a little more.

The shocking was the Pikachu thing I mentioned. The January reveal promised the evolution of Pokemon. GF said something similar about this year as they did of 2013.

Unless the Pikachu thing was bigger than the reveal of X and Y, i doubt it?? The tease says that the big news would be revealed on Jan 8th 2013. And X and Y were announced worldwide on that date...

I am a bit confused about it because I didn't see anything Pikachu-related in the link you posted. But I do remember that teaser very well, it was at the end of a BW2 trailer. But IIRC, I don't think they used any wording similar to "world shaking" or whatever to describe it. I did look back on Serebii's archived news to double-check, but I couldn't find anything. When they revealed ORAS, it was more or less out of the blue, so no such wording was used for that either.

I'm starting to think that they use "world shaking" type of wording on less-significant stuff, and then less-shocking terminology for main series games to increase the shock factor. Nothing in that BW2 teaser suggests that the news was X/Y, and then the fandom got a big shock out of it because we weren't expecting another main game so soon.

Something interesting I wanted to point out... that big celebratory trailer for the 20th anniversary was in English, and a lot of the major news outlets on the Internet bothered to report on it. Does anybody know if there's similar promotion on the Japanese side? I didn't know if they got a similar trailer or not.

I mean the Jan 8th 2013 was teased as "An Evolution of Pokemon" xD, sorry for the confusing phrasing.

The event Pikachu that was teased as "Shocking News" came out later irc. Some even thought that the "Shocking news" was teasing a Yellow Remake.
