[YGO] Most used staples...

Well for me now its Dark Hole, Monster Reborn, MST, and Trunade all the way. I'm a little pissed at the fact my common heavy storm came in the mail today though Dx.

I wanted to bring up Solemn Warning and Pot of Duality to attn. since the release of DREV was last week.

Solemn Warning just might be the counter trap to replace Solemn Judgment as a staple. Provided the effect is somewhat situational, but still very abusable given the way the meta is as of right now and the backlash only paying up 2k lifepoints. Im not too sure though, cause royal oppression is still strong even at 1. Here's i believe discussion can come in either for it or against it being a staple.

Pot Of Duality, the new "pot of greed." hell, it even includes the artwork of pot of greed in the background. draw 3, keep 1, send 2 back, and no special summoning this turn. drawback is somewhat pricey, probably aimed at slowing down the meta or overall quick special summoning that most decks are abusing (whose to say). Probably most useful during Main Phase 2, after figuring out what happened during the first main phase and battle phase (to allow special summonings etc etc.) but yes, i feel as though those 2 should be added or at least discussed to be added to the staple list.

I'm already running them as Staples. >.>

Yeah, Solemn Warning and Pot of Duality are awesome. Solemn Warning is not situational at all, and I laugh when they Starlight my Hyunlei only to have it countered by Solemn Warning (etc, there are more examples). Pot of Duality is just generally a good card, as it cantrips (i. e. self-replaces, it's a MtG term) and only disallows Special Summons for the turn, which is totally possible during the first turns of a duel when you are setting up.

The one thing that bugs me as having these as staples are the cost of buying these. my god, pot of duality going for over 100 on ebay is ludicrous! and well, solemn warning is already hitting 20 in most local shops. :T

I'd rather buy boxes of DREV and hoping to pack it than buying a single card.

-Mystical Space Typhoon: I can never tell if my opponent's face down would screw me up, so I use that as a safety measure.
-Call of the Haunted/Premature Burial (before they got banned): I can use these to bring back a key monster.
-Stardust Dragon: I can get around (most) destruction cards with this for a turn, and he also has decent ATK to pound opponents with
-Heavy Storm (before it got banned): I can use this to mass-destroy any dangerous Spells/Traps the opponent may have (while wiping out a few of mine in the process)

My main staple is Thunder Vortex...It's rarely a dead draw and is good for Zombie Twillight.

STAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARDUST DRAGON - pretty much everyone who plays YGO has this card. xD
DarkHole and Monster Reborn - replace brain and heavy as the new always in the deck staple.
MST, Solemn, BTH and Mirror Force - must have in every deck.
Solemn Warning - the new must have in decks.
Pot of Duality - I'm still iffy about this card. It's so damn expensive, it's a staple, but unless you pull it, I don't think it's worth it to buy a $130 card and plus it's better to run it in 2-3, since Konami loves to reprint stuff, I'm gonna wait till it's reprinted or the price goes down to around a buy-able price.
Trunade/Cold Wave - pretty much needed if you want to get into to the last attack without getting mirror force, dprison, cylinder in your face, and plus cold wave is still broken idk why Konami isn't doing anything abt it -.-

those are already on the list, and heavy storm can't be a staple anymore if its banned -.-'

My main staple is Thunder Vortex...It's rarely a dead draw and is good for Zombie Twillight.

....i think you mean LIGHTNING vortex

Mirror Force isn't that important for some decks, I feel. I have begun cutting it for copies of Solemn Warning in decks that need more space.

Well sometimes it indeed isn't necessary, but it's still an awesome card that could fit into pretty much any deck, so I think it deserves to stay as a staple.

Enemy Controller, Mage Power and Mystical Space Typhoon are cards I use quite often.

If Plaguespreader is a staple, is Glow-Up Bulb?

I tend to spam MST, though I kinda need to get my hands on more than one copy. XD

RoTA is also fairly splashable if you're running Warriors which, it must be said, is quite a common type.

Trap cards like Dark Bribe also have great splash value.

Grow-Up Bulb isn't as much of a staple because it has a harder time synching into game-changing cards - i. e. the GoyoNac duo. They're really broken. Grow-Up Bulb is good in only some decks because of this, but it's still good due to the ease of Catastor-making and Trishula-making, and occasionally you can also make a Stardust or other random 8-star, or a random 6-star with Celestia or Cyber Dragon.

Dark Bribe kind of doesn't have as much splash value as Solemn Judgment/Warning.

Okay, after watching YCS Toronto and seeing almost every deck has POD and Solemn Warning (Those who can afford them in 2-3 both), its safe to say those two is now pretty much staple in decks that can fit them.
