[YGO] Sept 2010 Banlist Discussion

Chain Burn worked well with Cylinder and Trio at 1. =D

Dimensional Wall is basically Magic Cylinder in Chain Burn since you run no monsters. Add Ceasefire, Secret Barrel, etc and you have a powerful deck.

Chain Burn is so much better with Ojama Trio at 2 now though. It was always the power behind the deck; granting an extra 1500 LP to Just Desserts and 600 LP to Secret Barrel.

I'm still undecided whether I prefer Dimension Wall or Magic Cylinder in Chain Burn. My Chain Burn variant runs a Morphing Jar #1 which really appreciates the single protection against an attack as I can flip it up next turn for more control. Magic Cylinder has always been the one that was sided out when I had troubles against anti-burn (Prime Material Dragon etc.) since Dimension Wall's damage still counts as Battle Damage. I would run all five but it seems too much in a deck that relies on chaining cards for damage.

Oh yeah, I remember Prime Material. I used to have a Chain Burn deck, until it got introduced and totally owned me every time - and everyones seemed to have it too. So thats how I stopped using Burn.

Im very sad with banning Heavy Storm and Brain Control ;_; even more so with brain control. that was really unexpected.

I really don't like the idea of having two MSTs to rely on back row removal. ill probably just side in a malevolent catastrophe for mass removal, since i don't run synchros anymore. but maybe my black rose dragon will be worth a bit more than she used to be, mass removal decks gaining popularity?? we'll see. woot for chaos sorcerer at two, one removes while the other attacks.

Dark hole and Monster Reborn back in the game!

I literally LOL'd when i saw substitoad and rescue cat banned. TAKE THAT FROGS!!! and...errr....BEAST DECKS!

indifferent about magic cylinder...its a one time use anyways to save your butt, running two is kinda meh i believe.

im going to hate cyber dragons at 3, that means a whole lot of good things for all kinds of decks. machinas, synchros, possibly even cyber dragon decks coming back into meta?

I REALLY NEED TO BUY A DIE in order to use snipe hunter.

Overall, mixed feelings about the banlist. happy and sad at the same time

I'm side decking 3 Acid rain in every non-machine deck I run starting September 1st.

System Down*
It's better and for only a little bigger cost.

My blackwing deck got touch again -.-
Atleast my maaaaaaaaaaacro deck will get to abuse dark hole :)
Tripleeeee BRD, my Junk&Debris is alive again !

AN EPIC BANLIST

Heavy Storm - Damn! Heavy Storm!!WTF every deck of mine has a heavystorm! what now? oh well, there's still giant trunade and 2 MST =)
Brain Control- its okay, creature swap =D

Dark Hole,
Monster Reborn - finally a chance for me to use these once-banned cards which were lying in my cabinet for years=) Im so excited:D

Royal Oppression - fun
Chaos Sorcerer - sounds good 2 chaos sorcerer in my deck =)
Mystical Space Typhoon - Fine,Im forced to put 2 of them in each of my deck >.<
Magic Cylinder - Oh damn,I always get nailed by this,I was also saved by them >.< but oh well...

Black Rose Dragon,Cyber Dragon - Meta decks...
United We Stand - i rarely use this one,so it doesnt really matter xD

*witch of the black forest, Envoy of the beggining and end, change of heart, butterfly dagger elma, graceful charity* Hopefully they'll get unbanned soon :)

Edit: And one more thing, my Tragoedia,Eversince i got that card,I have been using it on my dark deck (3 copies) Hahaha, its a good thing that i once abused it before it got limited.

Well whats so bad about Change of Heart? Mind Control is almost as good and it isn't banned...

Mind Control isn't a game changer like Change of Heart is. No attack or tribute...means its synchro fodder, more or less. there are other options, but its completely situational.

Who knows,
The unbanning of Dark Hole and Monster Reborn,I never thought of that actually,
And one more thing,Call of the haunted was once banned, and so is Nobleman Of crossout,
So who knows? xD

The unlimiting of Cyber Dragon means that Cyber End Dragon can be used more viably. I was surprised about seeing the banned list (especially Heave Storm and Brain Control).

Yeaaaaaaah... no. Call of the Haunted is too slow to stay banned, and Nobleman of Crossout exists in a metagame of quick beatdown and quite few flip effect monsters (the only really notable ones are Hamster and Ryko...). Dark Hole is like Torrential, and not that overpowered because of Starlight, and Monster Reborn... it was here 2 formats ago so. >.>

Those cards that were mentioned earlier are completely and utterly OP, however - Graceful Charity is FREE hand control, and you lose zero advantage. You guys should know, Fabled (a deck focused on discards) is tier 1 in Japan. Giving a card like that to them would be like giving Rescue Cat back to X-Sabers. Envoys are more broken than Chaos Sorcerer, sporting a massive 3000 Atk and excellent effects. Witch fetches broken things far too easily (Def is often much lower than Atk on some cards). Butterfly Dagger is too easily searched and fuels a powerful OTK.

...Seriously? Dark Hole and unlimited BRD? This format will be the era of the nuke.

Treeborn Frog is a little worrying... Does that mean Monarchs will be on the rise? And my real-life deck is fairly trap-reliant so extra Decrees could mean trouble, especially with no Heavy. I'll have to add some more counter traps...
