    So I've come back from being grounded. My parents took away my internet away for the remainder of my Exam week.
    It pained me to be away from forums and the internet but Exams are an important matter....

    Have you been Grounded?
    If You are grounded what is it usually for? Curfew? Bad Grades?
    Parents - How do they Ground you? How Bad Do they Ground you?
    What's Your Grounding Punishment? Not allowed out of the House or something taken away from you?

    I personally don't get grounded that often but If it is It's usually my parents taking away my internet since I'm on it a lot XD

    Yes

    More then likely, breaking/destroying something.

    They give me a huge lecture on what I did wrong and why I should have not done that and what I could have done to prevent such and such from happening. Blah blah blah. Isn't that kind of the same question as asking duration or what they took away from us? Any who it is usually not bad depending on your interpretation of "bad"

    Usually now allowed to do anything in my room i.e. use the computer, watch tv, play video games, and so on.

    How Long are you usually Grounded For?
    Usually I would say no long then a month. I don't think I can ever recall be grounded longer then a month.
     
    I have never, ever been grounded. My parents never saw a point to the punishment and I'm not stupid enough to get caught doing things I'm not meant to be doing.

    It seems like a really stupid punishment anyway. "Oh your grounded, so you have to stay in your room with your TV, video games etc. rather than having a healthy social life."
    I don't know what genius thought up of that idea.
     
    I actually choose to stay away from my laptop when I have exams. O;
    Which are currently going on, but meh..

    I've never been grounded, no matter how big the crime. Not that I go around shooting people. :x
     
    When I was younger I was sometimes sent to sit on the stairs to think about what I've done but I think it happened twice, both which involved my brother (yeah, I'm kinda the goody two-shoes; not a good thing, trust me ;~;). But I've never been grounded. What Rekky and Vendak said pretty much sum up why I think.

    Being grounded is a rather foreign concept in the country that my parents grew up in, so I never actually had to deal with it. I can recall wondering what it would be like to get grounded when I was younger, even thought it would be neat for that to happen once. XD; I don't really think it's a pointless form of punishment, but I think a lot of parents go about it the wrong way, it's not really a punishment if you make a kid stay in their room with all their gadgets.

    I don't know what curfew is.. but I got grounded once for breaking the backdoor of our house by accident ;~;

    They keep me in my room for a week or they reduce my pocket money.

    A week maximum.
     
    In the past I've only done a few things that really deserved a good grounding, but my parents never found out so the groundings never happened. Besides those few incidents they don't know about I never do anything considered terribly bad. I have a great relationship with my parents so I've never really had the need to go against them or do anything exceptionally foolish. I'm a pretty well mannered child if I do say so myself. :D

    It's usually a no-fun kind of punishment. Basically it's either no going out, no Computer, no cell phone, etc.

    So far it was mostly no computer...

    It depends, but, I'd say about 2 weeks... I always get my grades up pretty fast, so I don't stay grounded for too long... :D

    it's a pretty good punishment if you ask me. most kids who get grounded have a social life and like to be out, so restricting them to the house while a bit mundane to somebody who doesn't have a social life, isn't fun to deal with. social lives are healthy but i don't think you're going to make your children unhealthy by grounding them.. you might not be, but your post makes it out that getting grounded would tick you off, and so it's probably a good punishment for you.

    as for myself i've only been grounded once for skipping school.

    Sure, they like to be out. But most kids enjoy playing video games and watching TV as well, whether they have a social life or not. I think it's just a waste of time when compared to alternative punishments. For most kids, it's not going to be a huge deal and likely won't teach them a lesson.
    No they're not going to get unhealthy, but if they're not allowed to spend time with friends for a matter of months it can be potentially damaging to that friendship.

    Usually things taken away.

    I've never been grounded, and I'm too old for it now. I think it's a stupid punishment though. A kid needs to play, they can't function if all they do all day is work. (Or, at least that's how it is with me.)

    usually my ipod taken away.

    caught one time: week
    caught second time:month
    caught third time: never happened, probably 3 months

    If You are grounded what is it usually for? Curfew? Bad Grades? Usually for bad days and hitting people
    Parents - How do they Ground you? How Bad Do they Ground you? First we have a long talk, and it's not usually that bad.
    What's Your Grounding Punishment? Not allowed out of the House or something taken away from you? Usually from them not allowing me to play games, get on computer, and get out of the house.
    How Long are you usually Grounded For? Not for that long, really. Usually for a day to 3 days.
