Uneasiness. That's what it felt like. Dialga's last sentence still rang in her ears. She sat down in the dark room. There were she once threw a party after they discovered the chest full of costumes. They partied without a single care in the world. She remembered how a bunch of trainers had snuck in and joined in the fun. At first she was embarrassed that people had actually seen what they were doing. But the fact that more people had joined in and could forget the pressure the upcoming tournament brought had somehow made her happy. Happy that she could at least lighten the mood.
But those times were now over. She had to take things seriously now wanted to blame herself for this. But her pokémon kept assuring her that this was Celebi's fault. It didn't matter whose fault it was. This had to be fixed in a proper way, and Yume had to take responsibility for it. It was unsettling to have to 'kill' other trainers. But she wouldn't want to infect the ocean with this bloody desecrating disease. She had various other ideas to prevent the disaster that would follow if she died in the bus. But that meant giving up her friends too. Entrusting them to another trainer was an option, but she wouldn't just throw her friends in some stranger's hands. So her decision was made. Her Pokémon were whispering to one another. They looked relieved after their trainer had explained the change of plans. Fighting would be much easier for them, now that they were allowed to go all out. Yume suspected the battles would be more violent now. The punishment for Yuki and Sarge for accidently killing the Frillish in their previous battle was still there. Since they had disobeyed their trainer.
Yume reached out for the box in which she stored the cans of apple juice, her hand reaching the bottom. She looked into the box. Just a few shards of ice, but no more cans. Annoyed Yume stood up. Her Pokémon looked up. "I'm out of apple juice. Gonna look for some more…" She said. The Pokémon nodded. Brick just laid down on the floor relaxing. Yuki wanted to follow Yume, but was ordered to stay where she was. Hikari continued going through the costume chest, Sarge was kept in place by Kiri, who was making sure he would recover. Horas walked towards her. "I'm coming with you. In case you get some more mood swings that might change your plans.
"Yume wanted to protest, but knew it was not possible to argue with the Sandslash once he was determined.
Yume had wandered through the halls for a while. Searching for a vending machine she hadn't looted yet. Most of them were flipped over by now. She searched through the vending machine. The slot with apple juice was full. Quickly she broke the slot open, cans rolling out of the machine. With a smile of victory she wanted to pick up the cans, until disappointment could be read from her face. She lifted up the can. Which wasn't the green colour the cans usually had. Instead they were orange. Frustrated she flung the first can against a wall. Horas looked at the can bouncing off the wall with a lot of noise. Then looked at his trainer.
"It's no good to crop up your anger and then release it all on a can. I get that things don't go as you want but--"
"I hate it when people fill up the apple juice slot with orange juice…"
"Oh… Is that what you're mad about."
Yume looked at her Sandslash.
"Nothing can replace apple juice."
She said determined.
"But orange juice is the best thing ever, though."
Yume jumped at the voice which was surprisingly close. She turned around and saw a guy with black hair sitting on the toppled vending machine. He had picked up one of the cans that Yume broke out of the thing and was casually drinking it.
"Well, well, another girl as an opponent. And this one apparently has an obsession with apple juice."
He had found a green can among the orange ones and tossed it towards Yume. She caught it.
"Is that how you determine your opponents?"
She opened the can taking a sip. Horas was eyeing the guy with suspicion.
"One best knows what their opponent is like. I heard you were trying to hold back last match. Do you always do that?"
Yume sat down next to the guy on the vending machine.
"GanxtA, was it. Right?"
"You got it right. Looks like my awesomeness makes trainers remember my name."
Erh… Not really… I just read up who I'm up against…
Yume's head tilted a bit in awkwardness at that thought.
"Er… Well… Maybe."
"Still haven't answered my question though."
He was getting awfully close, so Yume scooted a bit away.
"I just… I…"
"Shy one aren't you?"
GanxtA gave a cheeky smile. Yume wasn't really sure what he was trying to achieve. Horas was hissing annoyed, and anxious that this guy would affect Yume's determination to win. Yume looked at her Sandslash.
"Actually…"
She showed a sinister grin. Even though she didn't really mean it, but knew it was for the best if not too many people liked her. If she was going for victory, she'd better do it right even if that means people assume she is an enemy.
"My pokémon are trained to kill."
She said bluntly. Finishing her can of apple juice. She then proceeded to stand up and leave the trainer to his own thoughts. Horas following in her wake. She hated making enemies, but it had to be done.
The block of ice, encasing Kiri's leafblades in ice weighed her down. Before she could even react another icebeam was shot at her legs freezing her stuck to the ground. A startled expression on her face.
"KIRI!"
Yume cried out. Horas stopped rolling and jumped up landing on his feet. Quickly looking back to his fighting partner. GanxtA's gyarados had switched focus and was widened her jaws ready. Kiri could feel the cold breath of an Ice Fang incoming she watched into the gaping mouth terrified.
"NOT SO FAST YOU OVERGROWN FISHSTICK!"
Horas yelled. Jumping back into a rollout. The gyarados had seen it coming, as the noise came from the unburnt side of her face. Kiri looked relieved at the sandslash coming to her aid. However, it would soon be returning to horror when a Aqua Tail hit the sandslash fully. Sending him away flying.
"Sir Horas! No!"
Kiri shouted frightened.
"Kiri! Don't lose it yet!"
The bug-pokémon heard from the sidelines. Beyond the goggles she saw a red glint in her trainer's eyes. Yes. She was afraid too.
"We have to try 'that' thing!"
The blonde trainer shouted. Kiri sighed and then dipped her head in agreement. Then faced back to her teammate. Shooting a sticky web at him. The mouse pokémon recognized the thread. He had his questions about this plan. The many times they attempted to pull this off it always had ended in him getting tangled up, and Kiri flying over him due to the sheer force.
"Horas, defense curl!"
Yume shouted. His ears twitched. Usually the combination would have been planned for him using rollout. This did seem to make more sense though. He curled up like a ball. Kiri held the thread between her arms. No longer making any more. The thread tightened snapping the leavanny forward due to the sudden force. She thankfully whispered for being stuck in ice on the ground. Yanking the thread. Her body acted like a lever. Sending the sandslash in a wide circle around her. She couldn't look behind her but felt the thread loosening, and loud cracking of bones. Horas had smashed with great force into the neck of Saphira whom coughed up blood before her head dropped into the sand. Yume wanted to vomit at the sight. But kept her cold composure. It seemed like it was over. The Gyarados moved no more. She stuffed her hands into her pocket to prevent them from trembling. She was afraid, so afraid. It was a close call, but they managed to pull it through. Horas was covered in his opponent's blood. She walked onto the battlefield. Picking an aspear berry from her pocket and gave kiri the berry.
She glanced over at the Gyarados. The scent of blood filled her nostrils. Her heart rate increased. This was different. This wasn't right. These pokémon were not like those infected ones. Yes. She did fight to death before. But those Pokémon had no feelings anymore. They reeked of death, decay, and their eyes showed no remorse. Her mind was just blank now. While she stared at GanxtA who checked on his Gyarados. It was silent in the arena, aside from the people whispering that were spectating.
"I have a question for you."
Her opponent said. Snapping her out of her blank state. She raised her goggles up. She was sure she could keep her composure now without falling into her usual timid habit.
"What is it."
She glared arrogantly at him. Almost grinning.
"Are you actually enjoying this. Do you kill Pokémon just like that on a daily basis?"
The audience had turned silent. She knew at this very moment, she choose two paths. Either she could admit liking to kill off Pokémon. Even if it was a lie, she would probably not be bothered again living life as usual treated like a criminal. Kiri had just thawed out and was about to speak up. Yume raised a hand before her Pokémon.
"Don't do this to yourself."
The Leavanny begged whispering. Yume turned her face to GanxtA.
"Yes. I kill pokémon just like that... However, this must've been the bloodiest mess that I've made so far. Seriously Horas, you should see yourself."
Yume pointed out glancing at her Sandslash. It was true though. Usually when fighting Yume always made sure no blood would be spilled. Horas just sat there, letting it all happen. Kiri couldn't read the expressoin from her partner at all, and it frightened her. The audience was getting restless. People were starting to call her out. Yume didn't look at the people she once had interacted with. Or more often. She didn't want to see their expressions. Something had to be done here. Someone had to tell the truth.
"H-horas if we let Yume go her way people might go after her!"
She hissed softly hoping Yume hadn't heard it.
"So what you want to do about it...? We can always protect her."
Kiri wanted to scream out. Call out that Yume didn't have to take such a distance from people, letting her be hated. That she didn't deserve to be thrown in yet another terrible experience that was supposed to be a way to blow all the stress off. Before she could act Yume had already turned around.
"If that is all to it I will take my leave."
She had placed her hands back in her pocket. Walking off. Horas stood up and followed immediately. Kiri looked worriedly around at the opponent. Took a quick bow and left.
Yume walked through the hallway. Her pace increased with each step she took. Until she ran, not looking where she went. Tripping over her own feet. She didn't stand up. Her body refused to move. She sobbed loudly. Kiri helplessly looked at her trainer. Horas ears twitched when he heard footsteps in the distance. Marine. He sat down on the floor. Patting the blonde on her head. Then lifted her up so she sat straight up. He couldn't help but hug her. Not saying anything. They sat there for ten minutes until he finally spoke up.
"What the hell were you thinking. Saying things like that. A lot of people are angry at you know you know."
"She's used to people hunting her down though."
Horas replied to that.
"... Lady Yume... She... Purposely let people hate her... At first it was just her attempting to put up a brave face whenever someone had seen her along with a dead Pokémon... But some people questioned her morals. She just went with it from the moment she was infected, as to keep people away from her. Because she thinks she is a danger to anyone."
"Then... We should tell them the truth."
"N-no... Don't."
Yume sobbed.
"Why not. They deserve an explanation."
"They don't... We're all stuck here and we gonna die anyway. They don't need something else to weigh them down. Even if..."
Yume wiped the tears from her face.
"... Even if it means... That they will probably go all out against me..."
Marine looked silently at her. Pondering what he would do. He wondered if he had to tell people behind her back that she was not that horrible of a person.
"I-i have to treat my pokémon..."
Yume stood up. Called her Pokémon back into their pokéballs. Walking back to her hang-out spot. Marine stayed in place. He really did want to follow her. But he had to do something about this situation first...
