2014 World Cup Groups D and G Predictions

Well the 2014 World Cup starts tomorrow and that means it it time make predictions for matches. I will be making predictions for Groups D and G since those two groups have countries that I am rooting for in them. Now here are my predictions:

Group D:
Uruguay
Costa Rica
England
Italy

June 14th, Match 7: Uruguay vs. Costa Rica, My Prediction: Don't care about
June 14th, Match 8: England vs Italy, My Prediction: undecided
June 19th, Match 23: Uruguay vs England, My Prediction: England wins
June 20th, Match 24: Italy vs Costa Rica, My Prediction: Italy wins
June 24th, Match 39: Italy vs Uruguay, My Prediction: Italy wins
June 24th, Match 40: Costa Rica vs England, My Prediction: England wins

Group G:
Germany
Portugal
Ghana
United States

June 16th, Match 13: Germany vs Portugal, My Prediction: Germany wins
June 16th, Match 14: Ghana vs United States, My Prediction: United States defeats its nemesis
June 21st, Match 29: Germany vs Ghana, My Prediction: Germany wins
June 22nd, Match 30: United States vs Portugal, My Prediction: United States wins
June 26th, Match 45: United States vs Germany, My Prediction: undecided
June 26th, Match 46: Portugal vs. Ghana, My Prediction: Don't care about

That is all of my predictions for Groups D and G

If the US gets out of the Group of Death, I will be utterly shocked.

You know, I sorta agree with Matt's post in the same manner regarding the Australians stuck in another "group of death" aka Group B alongside Spain, Chile and the Netherlands. If we even manage to get past the group stage I will be like utterly shocked considering the powerhouses that are Spain and the Netherlands are being likely touted as the two to proceed from that group.

Here's how I'll predict Group B based on Mandolore's entry:

Spain vs. Netherlands: A close one, but I'm guessing Spain
Australia vs. Chile: Undecided here, but this seems likely the only one I think the Aussies even have a good chance to win
Chile vs. Spain: Spain wins
Netherlands vs. Australia: Netherlands wins
Chile vs. Netherlands: Netherlands wins
Spain vs. Australia: Spain wins

So yeah I still have gut feeling my men won't make it past the group stage like was the case in 2010. I was sure we had a tough draw back then as well.

Ya know what I can't wait? BRAZIL VS NETHERLANDS/SPAIN.

WINNER GROUP A (which is most likely brazil) vs Runner up group B which is spain or netherlands. Can't wait for world cup 3 HOURS. ^^

Also nice predictions there, I agree with everything you said except for Group G. USA can't beat Portugal not even Ghana. All my opinion tho.

So you think the United States can't beat Portugal? Well I would like to point out that the United States has beaten Portugal in a World Cup match before. It happened on June 5th 2002 with the United States winning 3 to 2.

USA can most certainly beat Ghana. Neither country is a pushover, though, so it'll probably be close. Portugal isn't as good as hyped up to be, but they're still good, so USA-Portugal is probably not in the USA's favor this year.
