5th Gen The Generation Five Speculation Thread

I never noticed that pattern before...Interesting. I'm hoping for a Dog Fire-starter (My zodiac animal is a dog, lol)

I came up with another possible 'theme' for the Gen V games. What if they base it on Greek Mythology? We've gone through Japanese, Hebrew, why not Greek? The boxart Legends could represent Zeus, Posiedon, and Hades, the three most powerful gods of Greek mythology. Plus, if the games do go for a Greek mythological aspect, they have an enormous amount of Pokemon to be based on Gods, Goddesses, and monsters. I'd say we'd see 12 Legendaries, each representing one of the Pantheon (Zeus, Hades, Posiedon, Athena, Hera, Aphrodite, Artemis, Apollo, Demeter, Pan, Hermes, and Dionysus). Yes, 12 legends may seem like a lot, but, unlike Gen IV, each of the legends would have a purpose (No Manaphy, no Heatran, no Phione).

Yeah I just saw Percy Jackson too dude LOL (Pan isn't an Olympian...the 12 Olympians are...Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Hera, Hestia, Aphrodite, Apollo, Ares, Artemis, Athena, Hephaestus, and Hermes (Not including Demeter and Dionysus)

But Human looking Pokemon legends that all basically look alike are weird...Id hope for a story related to Greeks but nah I don't think they would, still hope so...I guess it will be Chinese constellations...Seiryuu, Genbu, Byakko, and Suzaku

Hey!, That is a good idea! But lets not make them, humanoid liek the Gods. Maybe, the Zeus Pokemon could look similar to Lugia, Ho-OH, or Groudon or Rayquaza. The Poseidon Pokemon could look similar to Kyogre, Lugia, or maybe even Suicune. And the Hades Pokemon could Darkrai, Giratina or Rayquaza.

And maybe have a Hermes Pokemon similar to Manaphy or Jirachi.

More like a Cloud thingy for Zeus, Mermaid-Man for Poseidon, and an Archdemon for Hades


Celebi is Roman which is Greek with a different name... (Mythology wise) as Celebi/Serebii is a Dryad (Woodland Spirit)

I wouldn't want them humanoid-like, but animals. They could actually merge the Chinese Zodiac into it. We'd have the basis of the Pantheon, but each is represented by an animal of the Chinese Zodiac.

Cool, I did not know that.

I like the idea of Greek mythology, as long as it doesn't completely take over a whole generation with all those gods and monsters. It'd be nice if they just used Hades, Zeus, and Poseidon as box legends, and maybe some goddesses for the other trio. I honestly think we have an absurd amount of legends right now. :/

And yes, I wouldn't want them human-like either. :S

So for a definite the fire starter will be part of the Chinese Zodiac.
The choices left are:
Ox
Tiger
Rabbit
Snake
Horse
Goat
Dog
Pig

Adding on to that the grass starter will be a definite reptile.

And the water starter..... well not sure.

Flaming goat...I like the sound of that.

Haha indeed. I like the idea of all of them except the snake. They'd have to create something really creative for it as I can't stand any of the snake Pokemon to date. :/

Concerning the Greek Legendary Pokemon thing, I've come up with something like this:

Main Legends:
-Zeus, Flying/Electric, Based on Eagle
-Poseidon, Water/Ground, Based on Horse
-Hades, Dark/Ghost, Based on Snake

Trio:
-Athena, Psychic/Fighting, Based on Owl
-Aphrodite, Light(Normal)/Flying, Based on Dove/Swan
-Hera, Grass/Flying or Grass/Ground, Based on Cow/Peacock

Duo:
-Apollo, Fire/Psychic, Based on Ox
-Artemis, Ice/Grass or Ice/Dark, Based on Stag/Wolf

Baby:
-Pan, Grass/Fighting, Based on Goat

I chose typing that would be reflective of the gods and goddesses themselves. Also, they're based on animals that were symbolic to them in ancient times.

They all sound pretty cool. I'm especially liking some of the unique typing, mostly Apollo's Fire/Psychic. That'd be really interesting.

They've already got Fire dogs and horses. The goat would probably be a little too much like Ponyta. I don't really like the sound of the Ox, but the rest would be good.

Thanks =) I may end up using this idea in a fangame, but maybe not. If GF does reveal that the fifth generation will have legendaries like the ones I posted, it'll give me new hope for legendary Pokemon.

I would really love to see something like 170 pokemon added in the fifth gen. 150 brand new ones for the regional pokedex that you naturally encounter in the wild/battles (at least before defeating the league) and 20 or less evos/prevos of old pokemon that would be available once you recieve the national dex and can actually get the old pokemon into the game.
I feel like this would be great. It would feel like the start of something completely different which would make sense if these games are supposed to be ground breaking like they say, and it would appease people that want upgrades to their uu pokes or add ones that seem like they should be there anyway (like a tauros/miltank prevo, or evolutionary links between plusle/minun and volbeat/illumise)

Rock/Ghost Pokemon. There is indeed floating rocks deep in our earth. Though they float due to magnetism and deteriating side effects from the uranium in the area. Give it a big eyeball and Soul Calibur fans can either complain or feel at home.

I don't think you can say that they will add 107. It seems the most plausible but 493 and 386 were both pretty random numbers they could easily hit 596 or 612 or whatever they feel like.

I agree, the nostalgia glasses are rediculous. If Gen. 4 and 1 replaced eachother the hate on many of the gen. 1 pokemon would be huge. Exeggutor anyone?
