Get rid of Pokemon in a Pokemon game? Genius idea!

I'd love to see getting rid of the surfing blob, too...And Voltorb Flip! R/S/E game corner was MUCH more fun!

Wait what? Competitive battlers have been battling since the days of R/B/Y and having fun with it. I used to battle competitively since I played Blue, and didn't fully get into it until G/S/C. Sure, those I battled against didn't use EV training, but we still had fun doing it.

So yeah, people have fun playing video games in their own way.

As for anything I would get rid of in Pokemon: trade evolutions. While Nintendo apparently likes to think that Pokemon players are social, some of us were stuck without anyone to trade with for years. I could never complete my Pokedex without cheating in Blue because of the lack of people to trade with. And that annoyed me more than the version exclusives, because that was understandable.

    What?

I was saying competitive battling and EV were two separate things.......
The person disagreeing with me said those who EV train liked doing it, then brought up how competitive battlers battle because they have fun battling.
I just thought that competitive battling had nothing to do with EVs, like you said, you can have fun competitive battling without EVs.

I'm not referring to two people battling each other in a Pokemon game by saying "competitive battling". I'm referring to the actual competitive battling scene, in which EV-trained Pokemon are the norm and if you don't EV-train you can't hope to beat those who do. I know that not everyone who battles competitively EV trains, but most people who EV train battle competitively and do have fun by using the Pokemon they get out of it.

I wouldn't get rid of trade evolutions, but I'd make alternate, rarer methods for each pokemon - i.e. a one-in-a-game item, untradeable, that when held, can evolve a trade-evo pokemon when it levels up. Obviously one for each trade-evo species.

I hated how Machoke, Seadra (even when levelled holding a Dragon Scale), Graveller and Kadabra wouldn't evolve in Emerald...even when I could trade, it kinda ruined their evolutions...

I can tell you in a heartbeat.

EVs, IVs, stat values--they were definitely cool when nobody knew about them, but now that everybody knows about them, competitive battles aren't fun anymore. What's the point of EV training? Wasn't it more fun blindly training on any pokemon you encounter? I personally find that EVs and IVs suck all the fun out of competitive battles, because, well, I think I already said that I don't find it fun to grind on a single type of pokemon. That's abusing EVs--another thing I don't like about it that most pokemon have absurd stat values because of them. I would do anything for Gamefreak to decide to drop EVs, or better, somehow find a way to hide the fact EVs are still in the game, so nobody would notice--I don't know how though.

And by the way, I like Trade Evolutions and I think they should stay, but I would get rid of trading with an item and simply trading will evolve all trade-pokemon. However, I also think there should be much less trade-evolution pokemon and that most of the pokemon that evolve by trading(there would only be like 5 or 6 total, so about 4, by the way) have their pre-vo traded by an NPC, so they would still be normally available in the game. I liked the fact you had to trade to unlock specific pokemon.

I'd get rid of master balls. It just ruins the fun out of catching pokemon. like the legendary pokemon for example. Normally it would take a lot of effort trying to capture one with a normal pokeball. But with a master ball you can just catch it without having to do anything. A bunch of lazies added the master ball feature, i think we should take the time to catch the pokemon on our own! Maybe we should get rid of the legendary pokemon to? :] I hate the legendary pokemon as i never use them, they are weak, and you cant use them in the battle frontier. there only good for the story line in my opinion.

i agree, but then, imagine you had a magikarp or a crabby, imagin how small they would be

That could still be possible, the trainer could cling on it or use it as a jet like in the anime. They don't always ride they're pokemon they could swim with them too.

I'd get rid of the fact that there are only 1 or to houses in a town and when you walk into a tiny house it soon suddenly gets bigger (especially in emerald like that battle frointer.

    ... Hence why there's only one Master Ball per game. Generally the only way to get more is through hacking, and there are cheats that give all balls a 100% capture rate anyways. .w.;

I myself only use Master Balls on those obnoxious roaming legendaries so I don't have to spend days hunting them down and training Mean-Lookers to catch them. >w<

Soo...having ways to customize your pokemon and make it more unique from others of its species is a bad thing? I don't mind any of that stuff even though I've fallen out of the competitive scene. It's only natural for a player to maximize their pokemon's potential in a game that encourages competition between players. :P

The only real problem I see is that it alienates the more casual players and the more...elitist of competitive battlers will harass them for it. I feel this problem can be solved if NPCs in the future games intrinsically explained EVs and IVs to the player. The games don't have to get all technical like, "Hey player, did you know that if you kill a lot of Zubats, you'll get a +1 EV to your pokemon's speed, and that if you kill 252 of them, your pokemon's speed will be 63 points higher than it would be otherwise?"...something simple like, "Hey player. Did you know that by killing a lot of pokemon wiht high speed, your pokemon will start growing in speed more quickly? It's true!" would easily suffice.

Flash and rocksmash, so we can carry round mystical orbs, telescopes that let us see ghosts, and around 1000 other various items but they can't stretch to giving us a torch and a hammer ? GTFO Gamefreak.

I would love to be able to remove HM's mostly.
Also a new area that when you batlle pokEmon there you get triple the exp after collecting the badges, just before facing the elite four.

I'd remove the inability to forget HM's easily, EV's & IV's (like that one person said at the top of the page), and Sinnoh-only evolutions (i.e. only being able to get Glaceon, Leafeon, Probopass, and Magnezone in Sinnoh).

I'd remove the all the gimmicks GF added in to make it impossible to complete your Pokedex without two gameboys, two opposing games, and events. I shouldn't have to spend double the money, or find a friend willing to trade for everything I lack just to complete the game....Also get rid of Nurse Joy and Officer Jenny.

I would eliminate the old battle sistem with a fresh one (I mean nowdays the turn based sistem is getting a bit old especially after all those games) the trade-based pokedex competition and HMs (make a ranger-anime-like system for field moves).
