I was about 8 when it happened, so i dont remeber what happened that well. I remeber my teacher telling us about the terrible "accident" that just took place, when the first tower was hit. Then I remeber coming home, and seeing the attacks on the news.

I still remember being what... in Kindergarden, I believe. The first thing I find when entering home after the bus ride is the TV on with the twin towers falling apart. All I could think was the minuscule version of "What the hell is happening there?!"

Upon age, of course I grew to understand. Innocent people didn't deserve to die.

There's also a kid in my World History class that was a witness to that event pretty close up. To think he was 5 and right next to it, while I was in the comfort of my home.

    I was like 7 when this horrendous incident happened. At that time I was back from school and my whole family was in the TV lounge, watching the news of the tragedy. I had no clue about what was going on until my father told me that the two planes crashed into a building, which made me freaking scared and sad. .__. Since then I never really cared about it, but I have a strong sympathy to those who had been affected by this and the people who have lost their families and loved ones in the attacks, regardless of the fact that I still feel enraged by the people who think that Muslims are responsible for this tragedy and creating a whole controversy out of it, though still I really do feel bad about the events of 9/11. ;___;

R.I.P to all those who died on 9/11

It was my freshman year of college. A couple of the guys from down the hall in my dorm knocked on my door and alerted me (I was sleeping during the initial impact) I didn't believe itself until I flipped on my TV and saw it myself. We still had math class that morning (though we mostly talked about the attack in class) but appropriately enough, history was canceled that day.

The next day I got my hands on the New York Times that first reported on the attacks, and I still have it. I remember feeling strange and confused for a couple days following the attacks and it wasn't something I was expected, being less than a month into college. It's certainly something I'll never forget.

I was probably about 7-8 at the time and living in the UK, too young to fully understand it, not reading papers, and not having an interest in countries other than my own. Growing up in school though, informed me the loss that America suffered, as we paid respect to those who were killed. Recently I was able to find a newspaper for September 12th 2001 and for the first time, I understood the sheer devastation and horror that happened on that day, being able to familiarize myself when the 7/7 London bombings occurred. My sympathy extends to the families of those who lost someone in the tragic events that occurred that day, American and British citizens alike.

RIP to those who died on 9/11.

We were on vacation to America when 9/11 happened. My parents were afraid of flying back after that, but I was five and hav no idea what was going on, by biggest concern was that everyone spoke English.
Last year, we talked about this in class, and some kids said they would have lost a family member if that flight weren't booked.

So yeah, rest in peace, heroes. And thank you for keeping the last plane from flying into the Capitol or the White House or whatever their plans were.
And sorry for making a joke about 9/11 in the Off Topic section.

I was about 9 - or a month from that age since I'm 18 soon and it still feels like only yesterday.

Of course back then I was too naive to understand, I only cared more why my cartoons on CITV/CBBC were cancelled. But seeing those images now, I can only imagine what must've been going through their minds right before they died.

I remember that I was in third grade when this happened, so I was like. . . 7 or 8? Even though I was so young, I could understand the despair of it all when my third grade teacher told us about it while bawling her eyes out.

I don't think I can forget 9/11, seeing as how it's the day after my birthday. :(

Well overer, you could always start a political discussion thread, but last I checked, this thread was specifically dedicated to solemn remembrance.
My Dad was working at the Pentagon at that time. He just happened to be staying home that day, thank God. And my friend's dad was working on the other end of the building when the plane hit. He said it felt like the whole world just shifted. In a way, he was right.

America =/= whole world. The whole world was not affected by 9/11 and the whole world most definitely does not mourn on this day. In fact, most of the world couldn't care less. I'm sorry, I understand this is not the time or place, but this statement is a major innaccuracy and needs to be fixed. Wake up and smell the coffee.

At the risk of opening an ugly can of worms, I agree with Devil Flamingo. I understand that 9/11 was a devestating tragedy and that so many lives were damaged and affected...but is it really nessesary to mourn every anniversary of it? :/ I was in New York at the time and maybe it's just because I live in a cave, but I wasn't really affected. I just saw it as another one of those crazy things that happens out there. Maybe if somebody I knew had died from it I might be more concerned, but the bottom line is, it happened, we learned from it, can we move on? My apoligies if this is offending anyone, really. Just my opinion.

I can kinda see what you mean, but there are a lot of Americans on PC, so I think it's fair that we show them some respect.
I'm not from America, but I felt the effects in the 7/7 London bombings,
I remember watching the news, all tube and trains were cancelled, blown up busses on the news,
9/11 has affect everyone in some shape or form...

I was only in 1st grade when it happened. I wasn't in school; I was at my dad's old store. We saw the towers on the small TV on the counter. I don't remember much else from that day.

God bless the victims and their relatives.

wheather you live in usa, or england or maybe even zimbabwe. You should still, honor, respect and remmember those who died on 9/11

You honor, respect and remember the women murdered in the Montreal Massacre? How about the people that die in Palestine and Somalia every day? What about the tsunami victims from Southeast Asia? Will you honor, respect and remember every single year the victims of the Chilean and Haitian earthquakes? And what about Hurricane Katrina? Those who died in Hiroshima and Nagasaki? The people who died because of the genocide in Rwanda, Armenia and Cambodia respectively? Do you honor, respect and remember the death of El Che, a man who did more for Latin American countries that you will ever know? Do you, every single year, honor, respect and remember the people murdered under Fascist Spain? What about the German Holocaust? Do you even KNOW just how many people die of MALARIA every goddamn year? Do you respect them? Remember them? Honour them? Have I gotten my point across yet, or do you need more proof? Because I will give it to you.

I do not respect, honour, remember or even care about those that died in 9/11. I am not American; it has nothing to do with me. It didn't back then, and it still does not. If you really want to play the "we should honour, respect and remember the 9/11 victims regardless of what country or culture we are from" card, then you better be prepared to honour every other victim of every other tragedy, including the ones of my country (Cuba) even though you are not Cuban and I highly doubt you know the first thing about Cuban history. XD Wake up and smell the coffee, America =/= the world, and contrary to popular belief, the rest of the world doesn't stop spinning or functioning simply because the USA does. Get a clue.
