Uuum.. yeahh. This belongs in the Shipping Debates thread, since PC doesn't allow stand-alone threads related to shippings. D:
So don't mind me, just gonna move this.

People just like green hair, look at Drew ^

After watching BW28 and seeing the upcoming scans for a mystery episode I've decided to ship Snivy and Emonga. :D

But don't you think that an adult dragging a teenager into a Ferris Wheel is kind of creepy,

No, not really. I don't assume all adults dragging kids into Ferris Wheels are paedophiles, hun.

But just think how much creepier it would be if he did the same thing (remember it is the same) to the male character... And don't forget, if you actually do think that what he did was "romantic", that would also make you support N x (male character); seems 'logical', don't you think? (*cringes*)

I spy with my little eye... something beginning with "H"! Um, what's wrong with supporting male x male pairings? So far your opinions have little maturity. I'll be sure to make sure no man will ever go in a Ferris Wheel with you! o_o

Secondly, why is N so popular anyway?

He's a bishie, he's innocent and it's easy to ship him.

But don't you think that an adult dragging a teenager into a Ferris Wheel is kind of creepy, that's if he was there to flirt with the character (like all you FerrisWheel Shippers immediately seem to assume >_> ), you dirty-minded people, you.

What makes it look creepy? There is a lot of shippings that are similar to N and White I mean there is a shipping for Volkner and Lucas. I've seen so many fanart of these two on Pixiv. It is shipping after all; a lot of characters do get paired up with the adult characters like Cynthia x Dawn is another shipping I know.

But just think how much creepier it would be if he did the same thing (remember it is the same) to the male character... And don't forget, if you actually do think that what he did was "romantic", that would also make you support N x (male character); seems 'logical', don't you think? (*cringes*)

It actually does happen. I have played as the male character and N took me on a FerrisWheel but this is somewhat normal. There are a bunch of shippings like this like what I mentioned before and supporting male x male isn't that bad.

That's not only what I was saying, Bacon. I wasn't dismissing the drama, I was dismissing the fact that the amount of drama does not govern how "shippy" a scene is. Please learn to read thoroughly! What about characters that are naturally calm and unemotive? Just because they don't go "OMG LANA DON'T ****ING DIE ON MEEEEE I WILL SAVE YOU", doesn't make the possibility of their love for them any different.

Before you ask me to read with a greater emphasis for detail, why don;t you respond to my whole comment? I already conceded that there was no concrete proof other than Misty's goo-goo eyes for ash, yet you act as if I was completely oblivious. xD Since we are going back to the rescue = love??? ((part)), I'll take the bait.

My first reaction was 1) Boy saving girl and 2)May is a girl. Saving a guy friend is usually a platonic thing, but saving a lady friend is usually interpretted as romantic and more dramatic. For me to toss that aside would also mean to toss the moment when Misty saved ash during the Lugia movie. :3 Take a chill pill nutella, I won't address by your name so you don't bite my head off. xD

What part of your comment I didn't respond to, exactly? =S

Everyone can call me by Nutella, and I only start nipping at people who say stupid things, or claim retraded stuff to be true. Believe me, I'm much more annoying when I'm actually angry!

BTW, the key word you said was "interpretted." Meaning it's subjective, bro. What one person may perceive as romantic or dramatic is different from another. Why can't one toss the moment when Misty saved Ash as not romantic? They're pals; it's not out of the question in terms of friendship.

He doesn't have any social skills with humans, so he probably didn't realise what he was doing was weird. Like, it's hilariously cute when he randomly tells you he loves the mechanics of the ferris wheel after "kidnapping" you. And yeah, one of the problems with shipping one of the protagonists with an NPC is that the dialogue is the same whether you play as a girl or a boy, and there are some people who would rather just ship one person with another rather than have potentially a few.

He has to be one of the more unique characters in this series~ And one of the few good looking males in the series @~@ He's a bishie~

^I completely agree, he is so cute in the way he acts it is actually funny.

Anyway on with my rant.

While debating is at time enjoyable and all, the main point of it is that it is not really necessary. The concept of ships is used for fans that wish to expand into the story themselves.

I am sure that many have thought "Why didn't Ash date [X]?" This is where the shippings come into play.

The majority of it is not, "Yeah Ash is definitely going to go out with/marry X girl, boy." or "X person with Y person would be the best pairing." The truth of the matter is the question will always be, "What if Ash, or X person, dated X/Y person.

Now I am not saying that debating on the ships is a bad idea, just that it should not be done too seriously. Many would argue that because Ash spent more time with Misty than any of the other girls and that he met her first that they would in turn "hook up", but others could also argue that his bond with his other traveling companions would greater and he would end with one of them.

The main point is that when thinking of in story pairings we ultimately have no say in it, the anime manga and game developers have the final say in all, and if I am perfectly honest I do not think that we will see the end of this series for a good while with how well the games are now doing.

Because we have no say in the development of the story we resort to filling in the blanks ourselves, this in turn is called fan-fiction or fan art, and ultimately the fan working on it has the final say in this. That in turn makes us that are not writing it make one ourselves and the process repeats itself indefinitely.

Even when the developers do finish the series fan writers and artists all around the world will look to it and say. "What? That's stupid. It should have been X person with Y person." This is why debating is unnecessary, people have their opinions already set and we cannot do anything to change that.

-pant-pant-pant- Thank you for reading through my entire, or part of it in some of your cases, rant. This topic sparked an argument in my head and I had to let it out.

By the way I am a proud supporter of RayShipping. Ash and Cynthia, while there is a large age difference, do have many things in common that could, with the right chain of events, develop into something more than just acquaintances. But again this is more my opinion which I am currently developing into a fan fiction.

So I have a question. Is this shipping only in the anime or in any Pokemon canon? (Cuz I ship two pokemon together :[ )

Our focus is the anime, but fanboying/girling about other Misc. pairs is welcome (since we're all crazy already anyways)

Oh, and Roseblade, I've ranted longer ;)

I agree. While I do seriously state my opinions, I want debating to be a fun experience over all. I'm not debating to be a pain in the arse; I'm just well, enjoying the point of this thread.

This is why debating is unnecessary, people have their opinions already set and we cannot do anything to change that.

I agreed with most of your post, but some people enjoy debating. Of course it's unnecessary; Pokemon isn't serious business. Well, at least, for me. Like I said a few times, my only problem is when people say things are canon when they're clearly not. Otherwise, I have no problem with people shipping whoever the hell they want.

Dude, I'm more into crack shipping than probably shipping; my ships may epitomise the view that shipping, fanart, fanfiction, etc. are all about having fun and exploring the realm of the hypothetical.

Obscure pairings FTW! =) That sounds like an interesting fic, so good luck with that! Anyway, prepare for backlash as paedophilia/hebephilia isn't always viewed upon favourably.

I don't mind debating; it actually gets me thinking and try to put up with a good debate but this also depends on certain topics that the debate is on. I don't like debating at school; I get nervous and shy but when it comes to something that I know or something I like discussing about then I can get into good debates. Pokemon not really serious business but I can see it going into one when it comes to shipping; now doing crack pairing is a lot of fun, putting random trainers together and a shipping is what I like to do sometimes.

Not seen the anime? Oh but you should, for sure! It opens up so many new shipping possibilities~ And it has Dent in it. There is no reason not to watch it!

I'm one of the luckier ones that can't help but keep my opinions to myself- so debating naturally works for me. The internet is an excellent opportunity for convicted yet publicly-shy people to engage in a debate.

Pokemon not really serious business but I can see it going into one when it comes to shipping; now doing crack pairing is a lot of fun, putting random trainers together and a shipping is what I like to do sometimes.

When people feel so passionately about a pairing they love (read: when they're fans), it almost inevitably explodes into debate. Luckily, PC is very civil. There are some places where you just genuinely want to express an intelligible perspective, but the mods that love a pairing will delete your post. It's not fair, so thank the Lord OC isn't like that.

I also love crack pairings. I used to play this writing-practice thing ages ago where the participants shipped random characters and had to write a short story about the union. It's very fun; that's probably where my love of crack pairings came from. Got any good ones?

Not seen the anime? Oh but you should, for sure! It opens up so many new shipping possibilities~ And it has Dent in it. There is no reason not to watch it!

I completely agree with this non-biased view! X) For instance, CafeMocha is brilliant!~ =D See how Dento is the damn pillar of Best Wishes?! Sadly, WishfulShipping is the most popular out of the popular three (the other two being Negai and CafeMocha).

xD I'm not trying to push my pairing through or anything lol, I know full well about wishy washy nature of interpretation. So I'd like to ask what pairing you support? You don't need any reasoning since everything is sparse to begin with. o.O

I know. Never said that you were pushy.

I'm a shallow shipper- on the rare occasion that I ship, I usually do so based on appearances. Then I try to write it so that they can work- theoretically any relationship can work if there is enough effort put into it. Of course, attraction and relational compatibility skews the levels of said effort people are willing to invest.

I like Elesa x one of the Striaton Gym Leaders. Out of three possibilities, I like Elesa x Cress the best. I also like CafeMocha- don't worry, I'm not deluded. ;) I wouldn't say I'm an ardent supporter in the least.

I see and understand, I do apologize if I have offended you in any way you make several compelling points, and I whole heatedly agree. I just recently found this section of the Community, and am fairly new overall. I suppose that I should have read more than the first 4 pages of the thread. I shall do so immediately.

Obscure pairings FTW! =) That sounds like an interesting fic, so good luck with that! Anyway, prepare for backlash as paedophilia/hebephilia isn't always viewed upon favourably.

But of course, I knew from the get go that there would be contempt and distaste for this pairing, and I am well prepared to face it and defend my right to create my own unique idea.

I don't mind debating; it actually gets me thinking and try to put up with a good debate but this also depends on certain topics that the debate is on. I do not have to much of a problem with debating, only thing is that I am a pacifist by nature. I can argue and fight for my opinions but I dislike it. I am not by any means an appeaser mind you, I have my own opinions and will stick by them if pushed to, but I will not go out of my way to start an argument. I welcome you in stating your opinion and debating existing ones it is sometimes liberating in a sense at times and since it is not hurting anyone, as the topic is not overly important, it is fine to be as enthusiastic as possible...while still abiding by the rules set by the PC.
