Hey all. This is Avara on a new account! ~

First of all I would like to thank everyone who got in touch to send their best wishes when my dad passed away. You don't know how much it meant to me!

My reason for posting is to announce the release date for the game's pre-alpha. I say pre-alpha because it contains VERY little content, I stopped work on it after everything happened so this is literally just "what I have so far".

Due to the new account, I can't update the thread to reflect any changes nor post links, so in the spoiler are some details about what this release will contain.

[*] Contains three cities - Brun Valley, Clifftop Town and Sogen Suburb

[*] You can start as a Seeker, Researcher, Gang Member, Journalist, Police Officer or Ranger. Freelance has not been started yet.

[*] Most Trainer and OW sprites have not been inserted yet. There are placeholders for things everywhere.

[*] No 4th gen+ Pokemon are in the game, so trainer parties and wild Pokemon in routes are by no means final.

[*] In fact, assume nothing is final. Everything you'll see is subject to change and improvement.

[*] As this is just a little preview, you will NOT be able to keep your save file for future versions.
I repeat, you WILL NOT be able to keep your save files. If this turns you off, you might want to wait for the next release =)

[*] Only male gender is playable for now. There will be separate patches for each gender, both male and female will be playable in the "true" alpha. Why separate patches for each gender? Lots of reasons. Without ranting, these include the sake of immersion, space, my custom intro and the limitations of my own abilities. =P

It will be VERY short, so if you guys want to ignore this and wait for a later release it's up to you. A proper release of decent length is definitely several months away, but posting a preview is a way of breaking the silence and proving that I do still work on this thing =P

With the open word; Does this mean you've made something to just do base pokemon and make them have a chance of being evolved out in the wild? I feel like it would be hard balancing that with any other method.

Since the pre-alpha will be so short with deliberately contained areas you won't get to see much of it until later releases.
Kinda hard to explain without a wall of text, but this is basically how it works ~

At the beginning of the game, wild Pokemon levels are say between L2-L5. The levels are the same in every single area so that it doesn't matter where you go first. Once you advance a certain amount, levels in all areas will increase to say, L5-L8. They will keep increasing the stronger you get. Eventually this will stop, of course, can't have level 100 Pokemon running around in routes!

As for trainers, routes are periodically refreshed so that there's no shortage of trainers to fight.

So will the trainers fully reset or is it just VS Seeker style optional rematches? If the first option, sounds like it could get annoying.

If your party's strong enough, you can encounter evolved Pokemon in the wild, just not at 3rd evolution stage if any. =)

It's partly VS Seeker rematches, and then partly fully reset - although they'll be positioned in a way as not to interrupt you travelling through to make them optional battles, so that it doesn't feel like you're fighting your way through the route all over again =)

Hey! My main reason for making a fakemon starter was because I'd originally planned to make a full-fakemon hack as a sequel to this a looong while ago when I first started. Some bits and pieces of the story were building up to that. Seeing as plans have changed over the years and I don't have the same amount of free time as I used to, I've unfortunately decided this will be a fakemon-free hack for the future and those parts of the old story left out. I've thought about releasing the occasional beta with Azradon in as an "Event" Pokemon at some point though. =)

Starters now will be the Nidoran of your gender like the other students get - I thought it was pretty decent because it grows quickly, has Poison Point and has a powerful final evolution. If you hate Nidoran, it'll inspire you to catch something better =P Some Careers get a "second starter" as well~
