News: New Ultra Beasts revealed for Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon!

Let's remember this is the first time between games of the same generation that we've had a completely new Pokemon introduced. We've often had new forms introduced between games, but never a new Pokemon.

That is not a good thing. New pokemon introduction needs to stay at the start of the gen. Never the middle of one. I don't like this one bit.

Remember this is an alternate story of S/M. So basically a retelling with some differences.

GameFreak actually introduced new Pok?mon midgen. They actually did it. Those madmen. I'm genuinely curious what implications this has on future generations. Did these UBs open the floodgates for Gamefreak introducing new mons in future third versions/sequels? Who knows.

I feel like them introducing Ultra Beasts doesn't necessarily open the floodgates for regular Pokemon being introduced mid gen. For all we know Ultra Beasts are going to be a solely gen 7 thing and we're not going to get anymore of them after this. So this is just them taking the opportunity to add a few more "oddballs" in, because they don't have any immediate plans to do it again. (like how we're probably not getting more mega evolutions)

and if Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon is focusing more on Ultra Space and the Ultra Beasts it would make sense they would introduce new Ultra Beasts. I had considered they might do that....but I thought new Alola forms were far more likely.

Personally I love these guys, but I like the UBs in general so that's not too surprising. UB Assembly reminds me of those big robot guys from Breath of the Wild.

I can understand your point, since it may cause compatibility issues with S/M when it comes to trading and battling. It's like Game Freak are always forcing everyone to buy the newest game when you think about it.

USUM may not sell well at this point. The news has almost zero hype in them. I think that SM will be the best gen 7 games at the end of the gen. USUM has given me no reason to think that it will be great.

As well as enticing one to buy the alternate pair or to trade with one who does. Alas those are old staples of the series. Nothing has changed in that regard this gen.

I would happily take Alolan forms over new UBs. The former would seem unlikely now, especially as they mentioned GS during the trailer but only for the Celebi distribution.

And I wouldn't say that these UBs are really breaking any precedent, since they aren't Pokemon to begin with. That is, we still don't know if regular new Pokemon are something Game Freak would consider for a mid-generation game. That said, a new mythical is likely, but it could just be another UB.

I am very disappointed in Game Freak. Having new pokemon in the current gen is wrong. How can they do that? New pokemon are only suppose to be introduced at the start of the gen. I am not happy with this news. USUM is getting more disappointing by the second.

who cares that they're adding Pokemon mid gen, it's honestly laughable that you thought Pokemon would stick to the same formula for 20 years

Not to be rude, but this isn't about you. Gamefreak is taking a new approach at 3rd version games by adding new Pokemon and with these games releasing so quickly after Sun and Moon, adding new Pokemon is one of the few things they can do to make these games worth buying right now.

You can dislike them if you want but please keep your negativity to yourself. We know you do not approve.

The original pairs always sell better than the third version. This was even the case with B2W2 despite not being third versions. B2W2 also suffered from being on a dying console. The 3DS (which like the DS had two generations in its lifetime) being a dying console plus being a third version-like pair means that it likely be one of the worse sellers when compared to the others.

I also noticed something with the Rockruff part of the trailer. The OTs had the names "Ray" and "Ailey" which I guess may just be placeholder protagonist names again, like "Elio" and "Selene" from last year's Battle Royal trailer.

However, the problem is the US/UM protagonists are actually confirmed to be the same as from S/M, so no point.

One thing also regarding Rockruff is getting a different elemental fang based on version. Fire Fang in US and Thunder Fang in UM.

Both do have a counter for one of its weaknesses, but I think this Rockruff is also locked into evolving into a Dusk Form Lycanroc, since Midday and Midnight forms would only evolve from the normal Rockruff.

Hmm, nothing so far on the matter if it's locked has been disclosed. Just how to get it (it needing to have the ability Own Tempo and reach level 25+ between 5 Pm to 5:59 P.M).

Eh... Personally new UBs showing up is dang cool but... going by the screenshots on Serebii it looks like at least a good chunk of the story is gonna be the same as it was in S/M.... that took the wind out of my sails a bit. I just hope they actually do something with the UBs this time instead of having you go after them in the post game like they did before.

By the way was it just me or was Lillie's hair a bit shorter?

Told you there would be new pokemon! I told you! From the start people said they would never add new pokemon in the 2nd version. Saying get over it there will not be new pokemon in this generation! I told you! Sorry, but been waiting to say that for a long time.

We can no longer assume anything with pokemon. If they want to add new pokemon in a 3rd version they will.

And now my hope for a 5th Tapu as an event pokemon has been reignited.

As I said you are a very negative person and honestly I don't know why you even bother to look for news. What the hell are you expecting? Them to reveal everything about the game so you don't buy? New forms... new pokemon.... what the hell hypes you up? If you are going to be negative about every bit of new that comes out, then stop looking at the news.

It's a pokemon game. It will be lower than Sun and Moon but it will always sell well.


Also, what do you even think is the correct way? Change the game totally? Yeah that worked out real well....
