A Pokemon has a very long life span. In Blackthorn City, there was a Dragonite that belonged to the very first Blackthorn City Gym leader. Which was generations ago. Yet it's still alive and quite powerful.

Ummm... I'd use an all Psychic team. Why? Because they can just manipulate the ball to go where they want. Just like how Sabrina's father moved Ash around with his Psychic abilities.
