A lot of fans seem to want a game in the past...wonder how it'll work though as the dex will have to cease to be.

Do you think Green/Blue will appear this Gen? He's been in every Gen plus they mention in XY that he was in Kalos.

Is that so...seems like they simply like abuse. Also I think that if anyone in that pair likes the other is Sycamore as Lysander's plot was going to kill him...so Lysander doesn't like him that way. I do wonder what Malva was doing...
It's interesting how the women closest to those two (Malva and Diantha) are relegated to the league but don't do much >_<...

Idk, I'd rather see Lance still in adventures, or at least doing something when required. His Pokémon are powerful, and they're going to be sitting around doing nothing, which would be pretty boring. Dragonite isn't a pet like Growlithe for example. I guess he'd rather release his Pokémon, or leave them back in the Dragon's Den in Blackthorn if needed.

However, Lance doesn't really have anything to do anymore. I'd like him to teach young trainers. Being a parent doesn't stop you from doing that. Maybe, as a prodigy, he isn't skilled in teaching, but he could at least try, since he's widely respected in Blackthorn as a "master".


I don't know how the episodes went by but it's my understanding that everything probably played too fast, didn't it?

It sure does. I meant it in a mocking manner to the word. Personally I dislike it. I even made up terms for those who love Gen Three like me (Genthreer), 4 is Genfourer, 5 Genfifther, 6 is Gensixer (and 2 is Gentwer) to make the term less harsh. Perhaps I should make one for those who only love the latest games...


I didn't think you would like Zelda due to it being quite fantastical. I didn't play the originals, but the remakes seem to stick to the originals more so than FrLg did with RG from what I've heard...

I like all of those teams you don't like and dislike those you do. Well...Flare might be the exception...Lysander was nothing but a Hitler with ecological 'reasoning' behind his goals who fans see as a Draco in Leather Pants.

Yeah, spin offs (at least make one of the more popular ones, like a Gen VI Stadium or Colloseum). Though they did announce something I was looking forwards to, the release of the remake of the sequel of Ocarina of Time (which was also remade for the 3DS...GF could take some more notes from Zelda...), Majora's Mask. Strangely I got Ocarina as my first 3DS game and to have it's sequel be the first game I play on the New 3DS will be quite worth it.
Hopefully. I hope that in the next Kalos game they make Malva actually do something...well antagonistic.

On the topic of XY, did you know what one of the commonly cited reasons people say it sold as well as it did? Nostalgia. Gen V managed to bring back some Gen I and Gen II (aka Genwunners) fans, but XY brought more back. One of the reasons was that GF (since they felt like going old school and doing some call backs to your favorite region) put a lot of Kanto references in the game, and even called back to Gen I (and III FrLg and to some degree IV with HgSs) with pre-release screenshots from the original games of the franchise. I do wonder what them doing so for Kanto re-remakes mean...is them doing so their attempt to tap into nostalgia while avoiding remaking Kanto again? Or is an indication that GF is feeling a bit ''home sick'' and wants to return to their roots. I think it may be the second, as Sugimori said in an interview they wanted to make Gen VII simple like the original Gens were. So perhaps their desire for simpleness will lead them back to the region that started it all in the end.

Strangely while my villains may be black Grey to Grey my protagonists come off as white or light grey...

So what kind of antagonists do you like the best? (Do you like the more darker ones? As Rocket for example is one of the least grey teams).

Sure. Speaking of Draco Pants I try to give my antagonists redeming factors if I feel they will become Dracos (at least give people a reason to think that way).

I'm a bit of the opposite because I love to see how worlds are built. Which is why the way Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof handled Lost after JJ Abrams left the boat disappointed me a lot. They included time travel and magic in something that, they promised, was supposed to be fully explainable through scientific means. And some things were left without explanation.

It's rumored that Bella is actually Meyer's self-insert. But so much of Meyer's beliefs were inserted into the series, not just Bella. Meyer is a mormon and a conservative and made her main characters behave as such (no premarital sex, no abortion of the baby which was obviously hurting Bella, and so on).


Either he could've settled down, or he could've started wandering the planet once again, always in the look for myths, something which they delegated to another character instead.

Also, it's funny how Lance has a bit of a change of heart in GSC. In RBY, he comes off as a bit arrogant, even. But in GSC he matured and is a gentle, understanding Champion. Perhaps his defeat at both Red and Blue's hands humbled him?


The writing may be suspicious, too, as, by Drayano's own admission, he isn't good at that. :P


That episode should've been a full length movie, actually. Sticking the Groudon/Kyogre battle into the anime was a terrible decision. Just because it worked with Lugia didn't mean it would work again.

I like the idea of Adventures. But it does stray a bit too far from the games.

But I hate the Fairy type for its lack of sense, and concern with balance. Why is it weak to Poison? Why is it strong against Dragon? It's just because of the "metagame" and the fact Poison only had one advantage in the past. It's not because water douses fire and fire burns grass.

At least it's not as bland as Normal type. But even the Normal type has matchups that make sense.


Blissey actually isn't a bad Pokémon at all. But you know Smogon... If there's something that does anything other than other something, even if slightly, they knock the first something down a tier, because everyone will use the stronger something (tiers are based on usage).

Speaking of Blissey, it (and Chansey) can somehow learn the move Wish. It doesn't seem incompatible with it, either. However, did you know it can only learn Wish in an NYPC 3rd gen event? Which means, to have a legal Blissey with Wish in a 6th gen cart, you need to have had the luck of attending the event (because wifi didn't exist back then) and transferring Chansey all the way across gens, which means you must have two DS Phat/Lite (one to transfer from 3rd to 4th gen and both to transfer from 4th to 5th gen), a 3DS and Pokémon Bank. To sum it up, it's a ridiculously rare Pokémon.

Yet Smogon lists Wish Blissey as one of the standards.

By Smogon's logic, if it's obtainable somehow, it's legal (illegal move combinations notwithstanding). They don't care if it was available, for example, in a Japanese exclusive 3rd gen event released to just a select few people and you have to do all that transferring mumbo jumbo to get it in the most up to date gen. If you can somehow obtain it, it's game in Showdown. It's a warped logic that's very toxic to the game IMO. In fact, it makes Showdown its own game rather than Pokémon anymore.

And, of course, with Pokégen you can download event files and inflate the market of event Pokémon. I'm not so much against it but being able to do it devalues these Pokémon.


I actually prefer Yanmega as Flying even though it would benefit greatly from Dragon type (as most anything would).


And DPPt has Bibarel so it's easier.


I don't really like Yellow tbh... And I think FRLG were supposed to be remakes of RB like ORAS are remakes of RS. So no specific Emerald bits. They could make an event revolving Pikachu and Team Rocket in the postgame, but, with the way te anime is, I don't know if it would be still relevant. It's best to let the games and the anime stay separate. Red is the weakest Champion in the B2W2 PWT by far because of Pikachu.


Well, it makes hunting for Clefairy in Mt. Moon worth it at least.

Well, not wi-fi as in the wi-fi we now know but the GBA adapater was a prototype of what would be used in the DS (GF actually mentions it in their review of past games in the Direct they had for XY. Btw there is going to be a normal Nintendo Direct Tomorrow, who knows...perhaps we'll get some insight on what is next for Pokémon) and Pokémon FrLG were some, if not the first games to use it.

Yeah...actually Irc Nintendo didn't even bring up Emerald in the XY Pokémon Direct (I think they might've forgotten Yellow too but all the others were brought up). At least they threw Rayquaza a bone and made it so broken it broke Ubers...

At least N isn't mean and abusive...he truly is misguided. Now if Ghetsis was loved...well then that is a true problem. Speaking of which the fan girls seems to love Giovanni, Maxie, Archie, Cyrus, and Lysander almost as much as N...just google up the art work of their teams and they'll come up in usually 'cool guy' poses. Way more art of them over the nice girls.

On the topic of villains I'll like to see a female villainous leader. Perhaps a villainous with plans similar to Giovanni's but who has a more disciplined team compared to those of the males (each team thus far has idiots...)
I kind of wished I got Alpha Sapphire as I heard they gave Archie and Shelly a good back story. Meanwhile Omega Ruby's main villanous (Marge) is a weirdo, psycho who wanted to let the world be blown up. (Ariana could have more development, I love Mars but she seems to orbit Cyrus too much (no pun intended), Jupiter is alright...not as good as Mars, Anthea and Cordelia (irc their names) were background expository characters...and weren't villanous at all...the Flare females except for Malva are...lacking in something...) In almost all the teams the females seem head over heels for their bosses at least Marge, Shelly, Mars, and potentially Malva. Then there's the theory that Ariana is Silver's mother...

It's for an original work I'm working on. It's a fantasy but I also focus on character (sometimes though I'm not sure which to focus on). I try to write fantasy where nearly every character has their own story to tell.

It seems you share my view on romantic relationships...it's quite sad that too many books depict unhealthy relationships with an abusive man (usually it's the man...but in other media one sees abusive women too such as usually played for laughs abusive tsundere).

Btw...mind if I asked you something? How would you feel about a female character who starts up with low self esteem but later builds it up and becomes one of the strongest people in her world?

Since XY and ORAS have post game episodes do you expect Kanto re-remakes will have one too?

Once Kanto is remade again in addition to Kris Juan,Scott, and Hoenn BFB will be the ones with the oldest art work?
Though I don't think GF cares about the artwork considering they didn't redo all the Hoenn Pokémon's artwork as far as I'm aware thus they still have the oldest art of any Pokémon, virtually tied with the Kanto mons as some got new art with Emerald.

Speaking of Kris, I like to think Lyra is Kris with another name (even if the creators confirmed she isn't) in the same vein how Gold was renamed Ethan. I do wonder if Red and Green/Blue will be renamed like how Gold was for HgSs...as they are the only ones named after their games left...

I think DP will come after the third version to mimic the remakes of it's generation much like how OrAs' placement in Gen VI mimics FrLg's in III.
So 2016- Z just look at the movies and when the third version came out...Suicune movie then Crystal, Rayquaza movie then Emerald, Giratina movie then Platinum, Kyurem movie then B2W2. I doubt Zygarde will appear in this movie...but it will likely set things up for the next one.
2017- Gen VII pair
2018- RGBY re-remakes (I hope they keep the Sevii islands though and flesh them out, perhaps make a Mew related post game episode that involves them).
2019- Gen VII third version
2020- DP remakes

Well FrLg were the first titles to utilize the Wi-fi adapter which would be later expanded upon in DP and future Gens once it was built into the system. Also FrLg introduced several moves (the Elemental hyper beams) and allowed Gen III owners to complete the national dexes. It also introduced the notion of remakes.

Speaking of remakes...which pair do you find HgSs be more similar looking to? FrLg or OrAs?

I wonder how DP remakes will look...I mean FrLg are 2D, HgSs are a mix of 2D and 3D aka 2.5D, and OrAs are true 3D. Perhaps they'll just have a better framerate (FrLg at least gets the crown for remake with best framerate) than the most recent remakes.

Though now that I look at it RG, GS, and RS (how interesting RS' initials are a mix of RG and GS...just like their league is...) each were 3 years apart from the next 1996- RG 1999-GS 2002-RS but DP was 4 instead so perhaps DP's remake will be a year later than the 5 between remakes so 2020 for DP remakes...

So it seems FrLg wasn't all that different for you as OrAs was for me after all xD. I don't hate OrAs though. I just think that they should do what HgSs did and take the full story of the third version plus it's additions for future remakes. So hopefully DP remakes end up like HgSs.

Well if they continue the every 5 years for a first time remake it should be 14 years (2019 DP, 2024 BW, 2029 XY.) Perhaps with the re-remakes of FrLg in 2017.

I am trying to figure out how best GF could do that...and still have DP on a new device. Unless we can consider the New 3DS the way we did the GBC if so then 2016 Gen VII, 2017 RGBYFrLg remakes (maybe GSCHgSs too) hopefully of Yellow and Crystal, 2018 Third version/sequels, 2019 Dp remakes. 2021- Gen VIII 2023- BW? 2024-B2W2? 2026- Gen IX 2028- Third version 2029- XY remakes...2030- remakes of Emerald and Pt...

It means you're more a fan of character development than worldbuilding. I remember the two camps were firmly opposites among Lost fans. {XD}

I'm having to do more character development in my WIP because I don't have the dedication to worldbuild. Ideally, they should be balanced, and I like to have "rules" to follow, but many writers don't even follow their onw rules... Guess I need to play more RPG.


Twilight is my guilty pleasure. I love watching the movies and laughing at them. ^^ But I couldn't stomach the first book. Gave up quite early. Bella is too "fascinated" by Edward to my taste.

I thought Archer was underdeveloped in HGSS. He gets props for using Houndoom, but they could've added so much more into his character (as they did with the other admins). Drayano's Sacred Gold/Storm Silver hack features Archer more prominently, but you probably wouldn't like it because it's much harder than vanilla HGSS.


I wouldn't say they didn't try, but their stories seem very hit and miss and mostly about the same thing.


Well, I haven't watched the movie, but it seems Maleficent is a good female villain.


Oh, that's so true! I haven't followed the anime, so I didn't realize it. Even Clair appeared, but not Lance. But the anime sadly ignores Lance's relation to Clair. I heard their family relationship is only canon in the games.

I don't hold a grudge against Heracross anymore. If talking competitive, Scizor is higher in the tiers (I think Mega Heracross is OU but Scizor is OU too).


I think Fairy would ruin Dragonite. {XD} And Altaria fans would be pissed.

I've never seen Clefable as a parallel to Blissey. They play quite different. Currently, Blissey is actually outclassed by Chansey! No idea why as I haven't followed the updates much.


Flygon has lots of Bug moves but Yanmega would need something like Dragon Pulse to shine.


I thought the Sinnoh Victory Road was more difficult, but I could be wrong as it's been a while I've played either.


They went with "accuracy", but really, it was a very unimpressive take on RBY.


At least Clefable is Fairy now so she's definitely more useful.

Seems like confession time...Well at least FrLg were a challenge and had new locations...OrAs was easier than RS and it didn't get any real new locations like FrLg and HgSs... also OrAs' post game is boring after the DE ends compared to FrLg. One of the good things is that it looks beautiful and the characters were improved but that's about it...in the end they were not the remakes I wanted either >_<.

I found it to be quite nice, though it didn't have anything to do...(but then again neither did Kanto...which comes after it on my rankings). It's plot could've used some work as it felt quite cut up. Chances are they'll make the characters better, at least as emotive as the ORAS ones.

Well Emerald's plot has yet to be properly remade (it's plot was different than RS and Emerald wasn't as intergrated as well in OrAs as Crystal was into HgSs). Also Scott and the BF Brains and the BF itself are stuck with GBA graphics like the Sevii islands, Leaf, and the Gen I Kanto plot...

But I think you're right...I'm going to have to wait 10+ years for my favorite game to be remade... sadly my second favorite game won't be remade either (Pt) at least for a very long time...it's the curse we who love third versions have...
