  • Well now that I think about it, chances are Mega evolution will be down played after Z or whatever comes next. So if they're making them next Gen chances are good as it'll get old fast...besides it'll be best for Z to show all the secrets for the time being and save any left for XY remakes like 15 years down the road...

How would you feel if GF broke the remake norm and made the next remake not a DP remake, but an Emerald remake (paired alongside Z to end this Gen)?
Surprisingly, Gallade became good as a result of the stat boosts, not because he has an overpowered ability.

And Alakazam has a Mega, too.

But of course. I feel hurt in my straight white male integrity if my muse is lesbian. :P

Why would you write Clair as lesbian? She's a bit strongwilled, but that's it. Oh well, I believe one of the gay characters in the Japanese B2W2 ferris wheel is a Hiker, and Hikers certainly don't follow the stereotype.

I quite like that you're a feminist who ships characters. :P I've met some who aren't all too interested in romance.

My OC was like Brock but he only hit on the nurses and the police girls.

Indeed. And you even fight Lysandre after the seventh badge, like in the older games. I wouldn't have a problem with it, but, I don't know, it's the way the story was told that was unappealing to me. You can see they tried to go for something deeper, but the execution was bad.

There are some female villains I really hate. Like the president in Elysium.

It's an interesting threshold. The villain loses in the end, but being a villain is being in a position of power. And there's an idea that women can't be evil, too.

It never make much sense that Lance appeared in Hoenn, but reducing Steven to a COTD was sloppy writing on the anime's part, especially when Wallace is so prominent as to have a cup named after him. The anime tends to handle characters poorly, anyway.

And Cynthia still seems to be invincible in the anime.
Yeah, they make a big deal about Scyther evolving and then give Megahorn to Heracross. And also make Ash's Heracross beat a Scizor in the anime (big reason why I hated Heracross back then).

I don't think Milotic needs to be Fairy type. Dual type is always interesting, but she's fine not being Fairy. Same with Dragonite. Blissey, on the other hand, should've been Fairy. It forms the pink cute trio with Wigglytuff and Clefable.

They made Gyarados a Water/Dark and forgot to give him Crunch. Then they rectified this in ORAS.

Flygon is a very weird case. He's supposed to be based on an antlion (a bug), but the way he looks is very dragon like. Even Trapinch isn't a Bug type.

Recently there's been a trend of people trying to replace hatred for Hoenn's water with hatred for Sinnoh's caves, but Mt. Coronet wasn't near as bad as the Hoenn sea, and all regions have elaborate caves (Johto is one of the best examples).

All we got was some islands with Johto Pokémon and weird braille to unlock trade with RSE. :P

Raichu is either villain or neglected entirely. Makes me wish Clefairy was the mascot (as it was initially planned). But then, Clefable would suffer instead.
If they even care about older Gen fans...they didn't seem to care much about the silent BF fans either...or the more vocal Customization fans...

Btw have you seen my latest post on the RB remake thread how they can change the plot?

I've noticed something which I sure hope that Nintedo notices. In recent times at the very least, they had the N64 and the GB/C which was successful but then the Game Cube and the GBA which didn't do so well (yet similar to Pkm Gen III they became cult classics later on), the Wii and Ds did great (as did Pkm Gen IV and V), but now the Wii U and 3DS aren't doing so good (likewise Pkm Gen VI isn't doing that good). So it seems that they keep having a bad 'sequel' to their previous device but each first device in the newest 'line' (the GB line which the GBA belongs to and the DS line whcih the 3DS belongs to) does great. Interestingly rumors seem to indicate they're going with a new device/line for their next consoles. Perhaps Pkm Gen IV, V, and VI games will become uncompatible by then...at least IV and V (like how irc the DS and DS lite couldn't play GB and GBC games but still play GBA games). If they kill off compatibility with DS it'll mean Gen IV and V remakes are highly likely. That'll perhaps include another round of Johto remakes.
That's true...I'm glad they fixed that up with the Hoenn remakes as I was afraid they'll make the Hoenn characters as blend as the XY ones (actually it improved them imo).
Well, Alakazam I would probably understand, as it's a bit tricky to get rid of due to his Speed, but Gallade, although powerful, is kinda slow. He could be a gym leader main, but not last E4 main.

It's more that I had a crush on Karen and turning her into a lesbian would make her into someone unattainable to me. :P (she's fictional, but you get the point)

I like romance, too, but I can never imagine characters involved in them... Guess I'm just not much of a shipper.

I never actually made stories with the Pokémon characters, but I did ship my OC with one of the numerous Nurse Joys. :P

Specifically, I was referring to that ferris wheel thing in BW.

Yeah, someone unusual, who doesn't look like a Champion. Lysandre was too obviously the villain in XY, and Diantha ended up not making much sense. When you meet her at the league, she's "oh that character from way back in the beginning".

Most of the female villains are underlings and cute fanservice. In Team Flare, you have lots of admin girls, but they still seem under Xerosic, who's under Lysandre. I think it's some kind of reverse sexism that protects women from being villains, lol. Or even stronger sexism that deems women as not capable.

If you ask me, I think Steven is boring. :P Wallace seems to be bashed because he stole Steven's place. I prefer Steven as Champion and Wallace as gym leader because Juan was kinda redundant, but Wallace was a little bit harder in Emerald because I chose Torchic.
Makes me wonder if GF thought Fury Cutter was enough (hint: it wasn't). :P

Scizor had signature move Metal Claw but it was also too weak (barely stronger than Scratch).

When even Blissey is Fairy like and wasn't touched with the pixilator, I think Dragonite doesn't have a chance.

(people wanted Milotic to be Fairy, too, but it didn't happen either)

The Dragon type is a bit weird, because we see things like Flygon which isn't a dragon and is more closely related to a bug receive Dragon type, yet Gyarados for example is a Chinese dragon but not Dragon type (only a dragon in spirit).

It's not. Which is the worst route in GSC? The one between Olivine and Cianwood. Which happens to be the water route. The Hoenn ocean is that multiplied by 10.

There are some Hoenn fans who hate Zinnia because she "ruined the story" and "stole the show". :P

    That would be terrible. :(

Although, I think a Mega Pikachu would only work if it had some kind of uber ability. And, it would make the Light Ball redundant (although that hasn't stopped them from making Mega Latios/Latias).
I wouldn't say that...I mean there's a sizable chuck of the fanbase that hates remakes and wants GF to just make new regions rather than to go back to it's roots every gen or so. I saw many of them in both here and real life when RSE remakes were being debated...
Also some who bought XY didn't buy OrAs but some who brought OrAs didn't buy XY either.
In the end OrAs may not outsell XY too...I mean FrLg and HgSs had very strong early sales but they died down quickly after awhile, and I have a feeling OrAs may be the case...

Also I doubt that GF would do that with a game or games they are probably already half way or more done at this point.
Except for Kanto which is a broken base in the fandom :(

I don't know...I mean Platinum did better than Emerald which did better than Crystal irc and B2W2 did better than all of them so the thread should be better sales for Z or X2 Y2 or Z1 Z2.
Well, Lucian has Alakazam and Gallade... Both aren't "last E4 member eligible", IMO.

The only Pokémon stronger than Umbreon were Houndoom and Tyranitar, and she has Houndoom. Tyranitar was meant as a surprise to the player, though it greatly annoys me how no prominent trainer uses it as their main.

I don't see what's so terrible about him, tbh. But Slowking would've been better. Still, he already has Slowbro. If Slowbro was his main, then I'd hate him with all my guts. :P

On the other hand, this is a character I'd erase...

I don't see how that would work, myself, as there's no canon interaction between them. :P People do yuri of Skyla/Elesa but more as a fetish thing.

Speaking of Lance, the Brazilian VA is horrible. :P

I don't ship characters... At all... You have developed your headcanon for Lorelei and Lance pretty well. Is this story older than Archer? (since Archer was created in HGSS)

There's no love in Pokémon. :(

Speaking of LGBT representation, some characters in the Japanese BW were the same gender as the player, and there was hint of homoromantic interaction coming from them. The localized versions changed them to the opposite gender, though.

I think Iris made no sense as Champion. 5th gen had weak Champions IMO. Alder is worse than Ghetsis and Iris is an inferior Lance.

Cynthia's appearance in BW was pure fanservice. She had, like, no reason to be in Unova at all. They could've created a mini-quest for the Undella Bay ruins instead.

    Didn't notice Bruno's whitewashing.

Still, it's funny how everyone in Hoenn is white or tanned, and the only ones who are black are Team Aqua members. In Kalos, everyone from Team Flare was white, too, although there were various black NPCs.

I'd like to see a woman leading the next evil team. Then, to compensate, the Champion could be a man again.

Yeah, Cynthia is surprisingly undeveloped for someone who is the Champion AND has a recurring role in the story. But other Champions are the same, IMO. I don't see any flaws in Lance, Steven or Wallace, or even Iris. The only Champions who have some kind of significant flaw are Blue and Alder.
And also they didn't give a fuck about balance, so it was perfectly okay for Gengar to have physical Shadow Ball despite the obvious thing being to give him special moves (due to his stats).

As much as I love the first games, going back to them is hard for me because of it. I'll swallow the new EV system, but not go back to an age when Scizor didn't learn Bug moves.

Don't touch my Dragonite with the pixilator! :P

Salamence is a dragon, so he's "mythical". Garchomp is probably only Dragon because of his status. As for Haxorus, he's inspired by a dinosaur, and the Dragon type takes cues from dinosaurs (for example, the weakness to Ice). Same thing with Tyrantrum.

Everyone knows the real reason ORAS sucks is because it's based on Hoenn. Too much water.

The games were never going to be a copy/paste of the originals, because they wanted to promote Mega Evolution. Fans who expected that deserved to be frustrated.

I'm happier with how they turned out. Heracross looks more like a rival to Pinsir rather than an evolution.

If they remade Yellow NOW, Pikachu would be very powerful.

I personally hate the Pikachu favoritism. It has a lot of stuff that would be more useful in other Pokémon. Luxray would love to have Volt Tackle, for example.
Yup, I even mentioned that about RB saving the GB before. They really did a lot. I do consider them number one due to the unfair advantage of Tetris...meaning every Red/Blue pair of mascots have been number one.
Interestingly Red and Blue's number one place can be debated as Tetris is number one but that one was packaged with the system so it's kind of unfair, plus that's usually not counting GBC games...btw I really see your point on the GB/C practically considered the same system...
Thus...in the end the 'Dork Age' and the 'New Dork Age' (XY? Great, the Kalos games are my fourth favorite games after Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Johto) Pokemon games may be the only number one games of a system...
Well it wasn't really Gen III's fault as the GBA had a short life and thus low sales. Gen III likely had a higher percent of the GBA sales than the other generations, actually all three releases (RS, Fr, E) were the best selling games on the GBA. Obviously Gen IV and Gen V couldn't even do that for the DS. Not sure how well Yellow did in GB sales, or Crystal in GBC sales. Ahh...I found out that GS were the sixth best selling GB/C game when put as a pair.

Tbh I feel almost as if you just called me a dork by calling it that...
Well RS(E) were regarded as cult classics after some time had passed. Actually the Gen III games were very sought after that Europe had to import some from the US according to Wikipedia (maybe that's why Europe had a later release...the remakes sold very hotly there like the originals did).

Interestingly Gen IV is now called the Dork Age (I like Sinnoh though too...obviously I must like the worst of the bunch then...) despite having better sales...

Here I thought the speculation surrounding RSE remakes was polarizing...it seems Kanto re-remakes have two very opinionated sides. One wants it, and the other absolutely hates the idea of going to Kanto a fifth time. Honestly, the anti side has little backing behind their points other than just hating Kanto or not wanting to visit it a fifth time...not like anyone is forcing them to buy the games though...
Why did they mention all the systems minus the GBA? If any should've been skipped it should've been the GBC as some (including you) consider it the same as the GB...I guess it might have something to do with the sales though...

Did you know that the highest selling games for the GB,GBC, and GBA were the first pairs of the newest Generations (though it's the third version if you split up the sales into their respective games). Only the DS generations failed...meanwhile the 3DS best selling game(s) are XY but it seems ORAS is ready to get the crown it's originals occupied with the GBA.
Speaking of Sinnoh the trees in OrAs remind me of the trees in Pt...and the deep verdant color of the grass reminds me of it too. Since Sinnoh is my Johto I guess I just want to see Sinnoh in everything like I did with Hoenn...

Speaking of HgSs I noticed that GF put the Weather trio in fighting type gym island (Cianwood) and like wise they put the Creation trio in OrAs over Dewford which occupies a similar spot in Hoenn ( being at the edge of their maps plus having fighting gyms).

I wonder if perhaps the Tao trio will be placed in the far lower right corner of the Sinnoh region in Sinnoh remakes too...

Which region do you think is least connected with the others culturally/legend wise? Kalos is linked to Unova and kind of with Hoenn and Kanto, Unova is linked to Kalos and Sinnoh (the cavern with the Lake trio), Sinnoh is linked with Johto, Hoenn is linked to...well AZ forms a tie with Kalos and the apperance of the other legendaries after putting back the Pokémon that once inhabited Hoenn (according to Birch) implies that it's connected to all the regions minus Kanto (but FrLg connected those two...), Johto is linked to Kanto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh (the ruins for the last two).
Well OrAs also took out things that were in Gen III Hoenn sadly...and not just the Emerald stuff either. I would say HgSs did the best job at adding missing thing while adding things from it's third version and not losing features that would still work in the DS (as the printer was a goner of course). I'm not just referring to Suicune, but the Battle Tower appearing plus being expanded into the Pt BF.
Even Gen II Kanto actually as it was empty... and Gen IV Kanto had little of interest but at least it was complete (looking like it's Gen III self but modernized with the additions in Gen II)...
