  • Adding to the RSE hints Kalos' 8th gym badge has water on the inside making it look sort of like a water gym badge which is the reverse of the gym design you mentioned.

I noticed all that except for the remix track...

You mentioned FrLg were unfinished but when one looks back at the originals they too were unfinished...they cut off mons we wouldn't see until the next Gen (more cut than in any other gen as Gen III also had some cut out and I think some were cut out from Gen II too), music was left out as you bring up with that track, the female character was cut out (btw why couldn't they add her in Blue or Yellow?) from RG. Seems like the Kanto games don't have a chance to be complete...not even it's remakes...

Another hint for Yellow, as I mentioned earlier Charizard has two Megas meaning it can't have one of it's Megas be the mascot or one would get favoritism (Obviously it'll have to be Charizard Y as Charizard X is black). Thus leaving Green and Blue remakes...while I would love for Venusaur and Blastoise to get another game they are more 2nd version and third version material over first version. Thus leaving a single Yellow. Perhaps we will get Yellow next and then Z (it fits with Y then Z xD). However since XYOrAs all have letters so should a theoretical Yellow remake...

Yeah, poor poison (plus it technically only has two gyms (Kanto and Unova) and only one E4)...GF just hates the darker and edgier types...which the villains like using.
Back then, she really didn't have any options.

I wouldn't say Umbreon's defenses are just "above average". He is quite hard to take down, despite the lack of resistances. 130 base Sp.Def. is a lot. With the introduction of Foul Play, he can actually do damage, too (same case with a very similar Pokémon).

They're not hard at all. Only in Challenge mode. I like them because of the types they use.

I was looking at all the E4 mains up to date, and it seems Xatu has the lowest BST among all mains. So you may have a point! Slowbro and Exeggutor have higher BSTs.

In ORAS, Glacia has four Pokémon that come from Snorunt, lol.

You're right. Yaoi is purely fanservice to (weird) straight females. And I think you don't see F/F outside of hentai, which is of course to please (weird) straight males.

For better or worse, Lorelei is Lance's equal, and his weakness. It would be interesting to see the two together.

I haven't played the postgame of XY, so I had no idea they managed to stuff Looker there.

They shouldn't overuse Looker, because a joke told too many times gets old fast.

I don't like Iris, like, at all. I felt like, when they added her as Champíon in B2W2, they were running out of quotes for Champions to say. So the random blabber Iris says when you beat her is basically the same thing Oak, Lance, Steven, Wallace and Cynthia said in previous games. Besides, her team is unoriginal and I simply feel like they should've gone with a more experienced character.

Diantha is a very nicely designed character. People criticize her for all sorts of reasons, like not having a Kalos Pokémon as main, which is a silly argument because they wanted to showcase Mega Evolution and no Kalos Pokémon had Mega Evolutions in XY. It makes sense that she isn't seen much in the story, because, well, she's a worldwide superstar. She must be busy. And, though she disagreed with Lysandre, even she had no way of knowing Lysandre was the mastermind behind the evil plan, as Lysandre had put up a good front and was known as a benefactor.

I think Pokémon is rather poor in representation. XY were a nice start, since you were allowed to be whichever color you wanted, and you could find black trainers in prominent roles. In BW, there are black characters, but most of the generic NPCs are white, and the black NPCs are in stereotypical roles too (Hoopster and hip hop Dancer), which is weird because Unova is based on NYC, where the black community is significant. And, in ORAS, they go back to everyone being white and no player customization...

There's a chance she isn't, because not everyone liked her.

I have a bit of a problem with the "strong female" model. I feel like it became a trope in itself. Like, a woman needs to be strong to be accepted as a good character. Though I tend to like strong women better...

Ooh, she looks very pretty in that black outfit indeed.

Interesting. I was into the shonen anime archetypes (Pokémon, DBZ, Yu Yu Hakusho).

FRLG suffered from being too attached to its base game. HGSS, and to a lesser extent ORAS, had a better idea.
They had it wrong, actually. If you look at all the Dark and Ghost moves prior to 4th gen, you'll see that all the Dark moves involved some sort of contact, and the Ghost moves were magical like, with the exception of Lick. So they were actually inverted. If they were correct, most Dark Pokémon would benefit a lot from it, and most Ghosts, too. The only one who would suffer somewhat would be Houndoom, but his Attack is still decent.

All of those are legendaries, lol. I see your point

You could argue that legendaries are "mythical". But there's nothing mythical about Garchomp, actually.

Ironically, before XY were released, Hoenn fans were pressuring for an RSE remake... On the DS! They wanted GF to release games after B2W2 STILL on the DS. That would be franchise suicide. No wonder I have a bad opinion of Hoenn fans in general.

Before Scizor gained some useful moves in DPPt, I actually wasn't a fan of Heracross. I know we both sing praises of 2nd gen, but even there there was somewhat of a power creep. Heracross rendered Pinsir redundant until XY, and was better than Scizor because Scizor lacked moves while Heracross was gifted Megahorn and access to Earthquake.

With later gens, however, I became more appreciative of Heracross. Even used one in my Black 2 team.

Yeah, I hated being stuck with a Pikachu that doesn't evolve. :P Back then, Pikachu didn't have all the stuff it has now.
Speaking of remake hints Drasna's dialog may be a hint of Sinnoh remakes. Gen III had some hints of HgSs such as the Johto music (if it wasn't meant for Johto in RS that is...) plus FrLg having already been remade so it's sequels should too was logical. Gen V (B2W2's code) had a strange remix of Rustboro's music.

I have noted that Malva and Lorelei have a lot of parallels/opposites but not the other ladies...interesting...

Btw Speaking of Kalos' E4 and hints of remakes the Kalos E4's males' types are the same as Dialga and Palkia (well I actually have a theory that their types are a reference to the Hoenn champs but...) while Drasna speaks of those two plus their signature moves are both dragon moves (I hope that in the remakes they give Dialga and Palkia signature moves of their other types and Giratina gets a Dragon type signature move as it's single current signature move is out of place).

Speaking of this I just realized another part GF hasn't favored the Dark type. Steel got a legendary in the span of one Gen (Registeel) and a mascot legend in two (Dialga), while Dark got one in the span of two (Darkrai) and four (the second Dark legendary...Yvetal), while Fairy got one in it's intro for both (Xerneas).
I think Sidney would've been a Grass type master. As he has 2 grass types in his usual first battle team. Steven would've been Rock as you say.

How do you feel about the E4s of Hoenn and Unova being essentially copies of the original?
I mean Hoenn's is just like Kanto's except Dark replaces Fighting (or is it Ghost comes and replace fighting while Dragon returns?) meaning it's Gen I Kanto meets Gen II Kanto/Johto. Unova has the same thing except it adopts psychic (a type seen in Sinnoh) to replace Dragon.
Actually Sinnoh and Kalos have the most unique typed E4's (Sinnoh only sharing Psychic with Unova's, and Fire with Kalos. While Kalos also shares Dragon with G I Kanto, and Hoenn). I half expect next Gen to have Dragon too (I mean Johto promoted Lance to champ, while Cynthia had a Dragon as an ace so Dragon is either always the type of the ace, the champ's specialty (which was the case in future Unova with Iris like it was with RGBY's sequels with Lance), or an E4 type.)

Btw you've noticed how each Region (minus Johto but Johto did a good job at avoiding overlapping types with Kanto (even to a certain extent in the E4...too bad they overlapped with Dragon and Poison (should've had Agatha stay to avoid poison repeating at least))). So chances are high we'll get another one unless they pull a Gen II on us with the next region. Out of them (5) only one is female though...(interestingly Dark only has one female specialist too, ironically she's also the first specialist).

Speaking of Dark types I feel like GF dislikes the type...I mean Gen II didn't explain how it was uncovered like how Steel was (or to an extent how Gen IV explained Fairy) and no Dark gym yet...but we got a Steel (and a Fairy gym) in their generations of debut (interestingly for me Mawile shares the two gym types and a lot of people pre-Gen VI wanted it to evolve/Mega evolve (before it being Fairy was announced) Steel/Dark).

Speaking of Megas...if GF remakes Red again they're going to have a big issue...they won't be able to fit it's Mega in as it has two. That means GF has to avoid using Red. That leaves Green, Blue, and your favorite, Yellow. I guess they could give Venusaur and Blastoise some mascot time after getting one Mega each and getting booted out of the international release (V) or the original remakes (B). Though that'll be kind of weird. I guess Japan could get Charizard X and Venusaur while the rest of the world gets Charizard Y and Blastoise on their covers. I have a theory that Charizard getting two Megas may symbolize how Red had two versions (Blue was practically Jp Blue with some Green parts) and the others didn't. Or we have to get Yellow (best option)! Or they make Moltres the mascot of the re-remake of Red and Articuno the mascot of the remake of Blue...

Btw I noticed the third version is the odd one of the group in some form. RG are opposites while Blue and Yellow aren't opposites of those two (interestingly they are of each other). A bit off but related: light's colorwheel irc is Red, Green, and Blue (JP). Yet paint works with Red, Blue, and Yellow (Int).

As for Gen II: Crystal is not a metal
As for Gen III: Ruby and Sapphire are the same stone, just a different colored variety, while Emerald is (Green) Beryl.
Gen IV: Platinum is not a gem but is associated with jewelry.
Gen V: While they didn't go with it as a game title Kyurem is still Grey. Grey unlike Black and White is considered a 'true' color (or which Black and White are the shades of...now think of Kyurem and it's relationship with those two).
Gen VI: Z (will be like Kyurem's even if they don't make it) while fitting the axis XYZ doesn't fit the Gender theme as Z isn't part of human sex genetics.

Also I noticed a spectrum between the version names (bare with me as some parts are a stretch): RGBY(colors) GS (can be considered Colors which fits in a way with...) C(the expression 'Crystal Clear' to refer to transparent things, fits with colors, also a stone which fits with...)RS (precious forms of crystals also shade of Red and Blue) FrLg (shades of Red and Green) E (a shade of green and precious gem) and DP (precious gems and expensive parts of jewelry...) Pt (one of the most expensive Metals along with...) HgSs (expensive Metals and can be considered colors (well the GS part)...also a spiritual theme with the additions leading to...) BWB2W2 (Black and White represent a way of looking at the world and are also colors. Now White 2...starts with W...) XY (follow W in the Latin alphabet and can represent opposites and how one views the world...now back to letters...) OrAs (letters also the Z and A or Greek alphabet) Z? (ends the A once more).
Well, better than Janine, who has Venomoth as ace... :P Umbreon is actually very strong.

Yeah, he has, like, no backstory nor development at all.

I think the Sinnoh E4 was the most developed after Kanto. Both Lucian and Flint appear outside their rooms and Lucian has some nice quotes in his postgame appearance.

C'mon, I like Xatu. :P And he uses unusual Psychic Pokémon. He at least is distinct enough from Sabrina, unlike a certain Lorelei clone...

Speaking of the Hoenn E4, they're mostly clones of the Kanto E4, which is why I hate them.

Hahaha you don't have to feel sorry at all. ;) I'd also much rather see Lance with Lorelei. Fangirls can get annoying with "teh yaoiz", lol.

The Lorelei you posted is very cute! ^^

You nailed it. I was expecting you to counter with Looker. ^^

TBH, Looker got old already in Platinum. His miniquest in BW was unnecessary.

I think Cynthia's team is one of the most awesome things to ever grace the games, despite her being VERY cheap with Double Team Spiritomb for example, but as a character, she's a bit lacking. One guy on Youtube noted that her apparitions in DPPt are mostly useless, since she always blurbs some mythical stuff and never really helps the player, unlike other Champions.

I'm a bit afraid they might have introduced someone in ORAS who they may be reusing a lot, too...

Yeah, Jessie is definitely a strong woman, even if a bit dumb like the rest of Team Rocket. :P She's the leader of the trio.

I thought Sabrina was a freak in the anime, lol. Her arc was one of the most disturbing things in the anime. But in the games, she's nothing like she is in the anime.

I liked Clair, she had an attitude that motivated you to challenge her, but you can tell they make her play second-fiddle to Lance in the games.

Lastly, I didn't think Karen changed much in HGSS. The outfit is different, but it isn't THAT revealing. She was one of my Pokécrushes, too. ^^

But, when I made you that question, I meant beyond Pokémon. I'd like to know more about you, your tastes. Feel free to PM me if you don't feel comfortable to VM me.

Maybe some people are the more reclusive sort. :P Still, I'd like what a remake could do with her. I'm surprised she never mentioned Articuno, considering it might be of her interest.

Maybe I watch it to rediscover my childhood. :P

Speaking of Pokémon movies, I still remember the first review I read of Mewtwo Strikes Back. It said the movie missed the "magic" of the anime. My 12-year-old self didn't care, though.
There are so many wonderful Dark Pokémon to choose as of 6th gen that it's hard for me to pick favorites. I even like some from 3rd gen, like Mightyena and Absol, but Mightyena isn't very useful at all. At least you can still beat the league fine with it.

I'm fine with Dragon types being the strongest Pokémon. After all, you know that dragons are mythical Pokémon; they're hard to catch and raise, but their powers are superior. :P

Goodra is boring. She should've been a Fairy type. Or, at least a Water type.

And Kangaskhan is a rather powerful Pokémon. She gets the job done, even in the older games. Other stuff, though...

Actually I thought it was because Nintendo thought the DSi would last a while longer. Since it kinda flopped, they had to bring the 3DS earlier. Considering BW were released in 2010 in Japan, if they were delayed by two years, they would've been past the 3DS release. And the games would benefit from more development, if they had been planned as 3DS titles. It would be kinda hard to shift development from DS to 3DS considering all the work they had with the animated sprites. I think a game with the animated sprites on the 3DS would've been underwhelming, even though I like them better than the models.

At least he brings out his stronger Pokémon when necessary.

Which is sad IMO since Raichu is one of my favorite Electric Pokémon while Pikachu is one of my most hated (due to overexposure, no less).
That's right! Actually, Oak's secret team in RBY is quite similar to Blue's, too.

I still think Umbreon fits her better.

Considering Will's ace is kinda weak, you may have a point. But I have a feeling he hails from Johto. :P

C'mon, you hate Will more than you'd like because he stole Lorelei's spot. xD

They went as far as giving Joey's Rattata 31 IVs in HGSS. :P So his Rattata IS in the top percentage of Rattata after all.

This poor characterization was excusable in the first few gens, but not now. Especially considering they overuse Cynthia and other characters.

What other role models did you have growing up? Now you made me curious! ^^

What they did to her sounds more like what could've been done with Agatha, since Agatha had already lived a long life of achievements and deserved a rest. But Lorelei and the others could've been expanded upon.

I've never watched Pokémon 2000, actually. The only ones I've watched were Mewtwo Strikes Back and a bit of the Entei one.
Oh, I like a bit of everything, but my absolute favorites are probably Fire and Dark anyway.

Yeah, I think you're right. Also because some types, like Bug, would make no sense.

I think Ice only has good movepool when mixed with other types. Like Jynx, or Weavile.

Ice did get Ice Shard, but few Pokémon benefit from it (Mamoswine above all).

That's a good possibility. There's one E4 member who was given Tyranitar, but only in the highest difficulty of a game (B2W2). My guess is that GF wanted to keep Tyranitar's existence a secret. I mean, you only get Larvitar in the very last dungeon of the game, and it's a rare encounter to boot.

I was so happy when I evolved my Larvitar into Tyranitar, though. Because he's AWESOME! It was hard. Pupitar is kinda weak.

NU isn't even a tier. It became a tier, but it mostly consists of rejects who don't excel in combat. So it's completely imbalanced.

Actually, considering XY came out just a year after B2W2, the outcry would've been huge. Still, Nintendo didn't think twice before killing wifi on the DS.

Yeah, I used to like Paul, but only because he beat Ash sometimes and I really don't like Ash. The main gripe I have with Ash is that his Pokémon didn't like to evolve. Later on, this changed, but I love evolution in Pokémon. I wouldn't think twice about stuffing my Pokémon with stones so they evolve, since I mostly like the evolved forms better anyway.

However, in the Pikachu vs Raichu battle at Vermilion gym, Ash had a point that's valid if you play the games. Being able to evolve at any level is fine and dandy, as it gives you a readily strong Pokémon, but to balance it they made Pokémon who evolve by stone learn very few moves after evolution. That's not always the case anymore, though.

I don't think Paul is relatable to Silver, because Silver wasn't really a proper trainer. He wasn't a competitor in the sense of battling, but in ideals. Paul, on the other hand, wanted to reach success in the Sinnoh league, despite his methods.

Yeah, that's possible. And maybe it would've been better for Brock to stay with Ivy and live a happy life with her, who knows? We never found out what happened there, my guess is it was something simple as rejection, but his overreaction does make you wonder.

I think I did post in that thread btw. The writers haven't treated Misty well after she left.
The cause could be...Hoenn and the crash of the Super Ancient Legendaries. I mean Hoenn doesn't exist in the Alpha timeline...also could be related to the early discovery of Hoenn mons and the Steel and Dark types.

Sometimes I feel like GF had RGBYGSC kicked out of canon...heck before ORAS people thought the remakes (and third versions) kicked the originals out of canon/retconned. Too bad GF couldn't have made Pokébank earlier (they though of doing a 'cloud' (before such a thing existed) like thing during Crystal).
I omitted HGSS because the rosters are mostly the same, with a few exceptions. Houndoom is Archer's/Rocket Executive's ace, though.

That's not bad, but I like that Karen is the last one in the games. :P If Sabrina was in the E4, someone else would have to control the Saffron gym, though.

Yeah, all the E4 members are neglected in further games. It's not a "privilege" of the Kanto ladies. In the PWT, the only one who appeared was Lance, but as a Champion. That's probably why they wrote throwaway characters in XY's E4 (except for Malva).

Oh I read it and thought it was cool! Better written than anything in the games. Have you novelized it?

You like strong women. It's cool that you found Lorelei to be an example of that, because she didn't receive much characterization in the games. Maybe you could teach me a thing or two.

I like the idea of Lugia being the master of the birds (as in the movie), as it becomes parallel with Ho-Oh who is the master of the beasts.
What kind of Pokémon do you like? Water, Psychic...?

That's true. Well, Houndoom was associated with the devil and still got a Mega! :P I was actually surprised he did. I guess the Houndoom controversy was never taken seriously.

A Dragon would be desirable because all the eeveelutions were based on Special types, and Dragon used to be Special. Of course, that's a bit irrelevant now, but Fairy is predominantly Special...

Yeah, Glaceon could get something else. Generally the eeveelutions have barren movepools, though, and the better ones are the ones which can make good use of what little they have.

Yeah Bruno is just a Brock on steroids. Like, literally.

Speaking of Tyranitar, I know I can't say it's neglected, but compared to the other pseudos, it sorta is. It's the only pseudo which is not a main Pokémon of a prominent trainer. The series acknowledges its power, but not its status.

I really don't know why I never considered either for my GSC teams, because I used them a lot in RBY.

IMO the tier system is flawed because of that. I mean, its sole purpose is allegedly to allow more diversity, to make people run things other than Blaziken for example, but in the end people will just run Garchomp or whatever becomes dominant instead. There's a reason Talonflame is called "smogon bird", after all.

The EV system is shit and I hope they reboot Pokémon in the next handheld to get rid of it for something less convoluted and more story-friendly.

They don't seem to like game rivals. May was only there because she was the new companion. Barry wasn't as prominent as Paul the smogonite. Actually, it's surprising that they painted Paul as the villain not long ago and now they cater to competitive battlers (Wally).

I'd have liked to see Silver in the anime, I wonder why he was cut.

In later seasons there were OCs with more development (the aforementioned Paul is an example), so there wasn't any excuse for Tracey not to have development. Not having an annoying gimmick like Brock was definitely a plus.

Brock should've left at the end of the original series and returned to gym duty. My hunch is they kept him because they couldn't write another character from the games into the role, didn't want to create an OC, and were afraid of the public's reaction.

BTW there's a topic on Misty and how she was forgotten by the writers in the anime board, you should read it.
It would be interesting to see though. Actually the 'went through space and time' of transfered mons makes a lot more sense now (sadly the original timeline has no contact with the other two).

If they remake Kanto again I wonder if they'll reference the RGBY and FrLG lines same with DP's remakes with DP or if ORAS will be the only ones to reference their original counterparts plus each other (though the Gen V games did reference each other with Opelucid).
They could have fairies discovered later than the B2W2 time. Also have Megas be introduced from the other world (the 'Omega' timeline). Though it'll be messy.

I noticed an interesting pattern with the remakes I've gotten starting with Ss it had Groudon and I ended getting OmegaRuby which has Palkia and I plan to get Pearl's eventual remake. Though the basic pattern (the purposeful one) for me is actually Kanto 1st, Johto 2nd, Hoenn 1st, Sinnoh 2nd... so I guess if they remake White it'll be white. If they remake Kanto again as a pair I'll probably get Green's/Blue's to contrast FireRed (I did the same with Omega Ruby as I had Sapphire and Emerald but not Ruby. Coincidentally I was going to get Pearl but didn't as Platinum was coming out plus it was sold out and plan on getting it's remake. Also I played Silver but didn't own it yet got SoulSilver in part due to having an attachment to Lugia.)
You like to color your hair! Interesting. I used to wear glasses, too, but I underwent surgery. I liked myself with glasses, though.

I use Fire and Dark Pokémon. Houndoom's influence. xD

Karen's canon ace is Umbreon, but she did have Houndoom as her strongest Pokémon in GSC.

Lorelei destroyed me the first time I fought her. :( My Pokémon were underleveled,so I brought the three legendary birds and lost miserably. I restarted the game afterwards.

The second time I grinded to L60 before the league, so everything was easier.

Hahaha I knew about Will before I played the games. :P I like his HGSS redesign, but the first design was wonky.

The 2nd gen E4 was quite easy. Bruno was the worst of the original members battling wise, and Koga shouldn't have been promoted since Poison wasn't a very good monotype to begin with. But I too loved Karen.

That's a bit sad, really. I think Lorelei and Agatha should've been in GSC in some form. I mean, I've always though Agatha died between RBY and GSC, but, if Oak is alive and well, and he's as old as Agatha, what would stop her from still appearing in the games?

As for Lorelei, it's probably because they already had an Ice type gym leader (Pryce), but she could've had at least some small story in GSC. She simply disappeared from the canon without ceremony.
Oh, I think Tauros is boring myself, but if it's justified to beat someone, I'll use it. :P I'd rather use something else, though.

90 BP with no drawback and a great collateral effect. Chance of lowering Special was reduced to 10% in GSC, which was a big nerf.

    *cough*Beartic*cough*Avalugg*cough* :P

I think there should be a move with a higher chance of freezing. Freeze isn't what it was in RBY anymore. In fact, by personal experience, Pokémon tend to thaw out easily. For a status that's so hard to inflict (none of the Ice moves have more than 10% chance to freeze), it's not good at all.

Well, at least the existence of Fairy put a stop on people spamming Outrage. :P Smogonites are too scared of "being locked into" Outrage. Same reason why Thrash never became popular after the boost (though I like it on Braviary).

They did a lot of things to make Jynx equivalent to Magmar/Electabuzz in the first few games, but after the controversy, they retconned and neglected her.

I think eventually they'll give Eevee all types. They'll milk Eevee until they can't.

Yeah, by STAB I meant moves of different types, like Vaporeon learns Ice and Umbreon learns Psychic. Glaceon gets Water moves, but they're all weak and not worthwhile. And they make her even more like Vaporeon. :P

I remember Koga being dangerous in R2. Lapras is tough to take down. Bruno was easy, though.

Lance's team was cool and it felt like a big thing to challenge him because, if you lost, you had to start all over again. Happened to me once. :(

I've never used the Nidos in GSC because of the limited Moon Stones I wasted on random Pokémon. :P

Oh, so you sleep late. ^^

I like to use "themed" teams of Pokémon I like, so competitive is not for me, really.

    And EV training is boring.

Of the COTDs, I liked Lisa from the Charicific Valley, and that was it. Only one I remember, too. COTDs were just a device to introduce new Pokémon.

GSC was richer in terms of characterization than RBY, I think, which is why the anime could've benefitted from drawing more stuff from the games. I like certain things about the anime, like, battles tend to be more realistic, and, if it followed the story of the games more closely, it could've been great.

I liked to see Ash lose, though.

The problem was that Tracey got a bad VA here. Brock's voiced Vegeta, too, so he was epic. :P

And yeah, Tracey wasn't just a failed womanizer. He had his moments, but they were much less "on your face" than Brock's. Actually, I was sad they reduced Brock to just that, because he was good in the beginning as the more mature member of the trio and a nice balance to Misty's hotheaded nature.
Unless if they go back to the 'Beta' timeline and leave out Megas. Some fans hate Megas so those who do will be glad to see it. Then for the post game they could have a parallel world of the region(s) where Megas do exist. The legendaries could be masters of the multiverse.

Yeah it is, especially since it was Ruby and Sapphire remake that established it. Btw even using letter Δ as the episode Episode (Delta Emerald/DE) is a refrence to Zelda.
    Yeah, it wouldn't have worked.

I think RSED are an easter egg to Zelda (as well as the Lake trio but in a different way) as Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald in Ocarina open the door to get the sword of Mastery which when pulled allows one to time travel (Dialga), and Diamond happens to be the fourth of the 4 most precious gems. Also Dialga's color is similar to the master sword's (I would've expected it to be Yellow as Diamond in anime tend to be associated with that color when not white).
That's why many consider Gen III a reboot. Gen V itself is called one by GF but if you ask me I think Gen VI is more as like Gen III it establishes a new alternate timeline. Also it adds a mechanic and new typing that actually changes things while V had...sequels...152/3 mons and fusion formes for a legendary...

Speaking of the timeline I hate to say it but I think Gen III-V is the last time we see all the regions in the same general timeline/dimension. As if Sinnoh remakes happen by Gen VII that'll conflict with the ORAS to XY timline as Kalos' story takes place in the alternate timeline to B2W2's but same year. And we all know BW takes place after Sinnoh. It makes me wish that GF went back to Gen I's/III's time for XY. Hopefully they'll go back next Gen and do Gen 7th pair take place the same timee as Kanto remakes, they do sequels which happen at the same time as Sinnoh and Johto remakes. Then Gen 8 with BW. Gen 9 with B2W2 remakes? and XY remakes. That would leave out Hoenn though, unless if they do Delta Emerald next Gen 0_o...or update Gen VI games with Gen VII mons. I doubt those last two even if I do strongly want an Emerald.

Btw remember how we mentioned the director cuts? I would say out of them (JP) Blue is the most justified as it fixed several issues with RG which were the first games. Perhaps they could've added Yellow's plot minus Pikachu as starter to it and from then on not made any third versions (though arguably Yellow fixed them more, and Pt fixed DP's slowness and DP were the first DS games so GF was bound to have issues. Interestingly third versions have only come out on new consoles and sequels in old ones (of which the GBC can be considered both and GS (noticed how the initials of GSC oddly spell GBC almost? RSE have the same initials as the beast trio, and DPP look like the jade jewely of japan when rendered as dpp when flipped look like 699 or 966...)were both sequels to the 'GB games' and yet had a third version of their own ).
