  • By knowing GB/C Assembly, you wield the power to scratch-code entire games, in a sense, right? Although it's a lot more intuitive and a lot less time-consuming to use bases of other games, not just for the initial coding but for story plots and routines in general - Kind of comparable to creating basic visual forms applications to coding the foundation of the presumed operating system ;).
Would you by any chance know other Windows runtime programming languages, including formats other than .NET, perhaps C#, the old Pascal, or maybe C/C++? I'm just sort of curious of the apparent all-time champion of ROM hacking history, to say the most ^^;.

Hey. Nice LP. Putting aside the 'fire red hack made by Trutality' in every video's description, it's a really good one, and I also feel glad someone made one for Gust.

It's true I rushed some parts and left retail stuff on the demo (though I did say the wild pokemon data weren't altered on purpose). Here are some notes:
-The dish is beef and pasta. The 'crunch' part was probably a bone.
-I'm not considering tile changing for now so Brock's gym is Rick's gym. Yipee.
-I think someone else covered you on Sentret's ability...
-Alex is the owner of the house in Bandreach City.

-The player's mom IS a smoker, the Torkoal is a hint.

Hope you enjoyed it, the alpha that's going to come out (this month hopefully) will have a lot of altered data and new stuff on already covered by the demo areas. That's why I hoped you'd do the LP when the alpha came out. Anyway. Thanks again!
hi i want to ask you something about pokemon brown:
how to add more pokemon/moves in the game and edit where the pokemon appear?
I don't know what you are talking about when you posted that on my profile... I think you have the wrong person... I am confused by your post...
    Hello Coolboyman,

Im very new to the PokeCommunity, but not so new to rom hacking, although im no expert! I only have a few questions about the sprite decompression routine to do similar to what was done for Pokemon Brown. Ive read in a few different places that the best way to use nicer gold/silver sprites in red/blue for front and backsprites, would be to remove the sprite decompression routine and place the new sprites in blank space of the rom and have the sprites repointed to the new offset of the uncompressed sprite. But what/where is the sprite decompression routine exactly? And how can it be removed or ignored? Also, how exactly is an uncompressed sprite added to blank space? And how are the pointers changed to point to the new sprites? I understand hex editing fairly well, so i dont need any beginner things, which im sure you dont want to waste your time with, but i have only founded a few places talking about the sprite decompression routine and nothing talks about it in depth enough for me to understand what to do. Any sort of advice to help me understand would be soo appreciated! Thank you for taking the time to read this!

I'm playing your hack Pokemon Prism on Vizzed.com. I love it! Just thought I'd let you know since you created it.
Hello, Coolboyman. You probably don't remember me or know who I am well (White from PHO). I am an RMXP Game developer and I have suddenly got this urge to hack Crystal. I whole-heartedly agree with your thread about people who rely on programs to 'hack', and since then I've been wanting to learn to code by hex alone. I saw your amazing Gold/Silver running shoes tutorial but me, being someone unfamiliar to the world of hacking ,haven't got an idea on how to use the information you provided.

So, I have two questions (not expecting an answer because I know you're busy).
    1. Where would I learn how to use GBC ASM?
    2. Would this ASM work for Pokémon Crystal?

Thank you for even taking the time to read this,
Pia Carrot (formerly White of PHO)
Hello. First of all, that is a great pleasure to meet the creator of Pokemon Brown.
I just started in the world of hacking and I plan to make a pokemon gold hackrom as I see many people only focus on GBA and I think the GBC pokemon games should also be considered.
The problem is that when trying to edit the mapping I have a serious problem with the connections, I can not understand how they or the or the JohtoMap MegaMap. So I thought of you as having made an equal GB hackrom could help me.

Thank you very much and sorry for the inconvenience.
Hey man. I saw your hack Prism and thought it was cool. What really intrigued me is that you added new types. I was wondering if you knew how to add new types (and icons) to a pokemon fire red ROM? Any information would be appreciated! ;)
Finished Brown today, started Prism. Both are truly amazing. Don't worry about everyone hounding you about Prism, it's worth the wait, and you have to keep your priorities in order. You are already a pokemon hacking legend, thanks for all you've done so far!
