  • I find it strange people are making threads talking about their creations without at least one Gym to play in it. I mean, without a Gym, you don't have a game. LMAO Even if you get the Gyms in place and no story at first, at least that seems the place to start; you can always change that stuff around later.

    That's me, though. :)
Thought I'd move this to VMs.

If you have a good hack that shows promise, shouldn't it immediately qualify for the Hacks Showcase? What constitutes a "progressing" hack and at what point does it leave that status?

Not arguing that at all. ;)
I don't know, I guess it would be a good thing to separate the tutorials from each other one way or another but adding new subforums would be a bit much. I mean, if any other person who has experience about rom hacking in overall would like to learn about hacking Fr/RSE or RBY/GSC or any other pokemon game, I don't think they'd want to see the tutorials on how tools work. Personally, I'd want to find tutorials about event structures and such so that I'd know what I'm dealing with when editing the rom with A-Map for instance, same would go for any other person I think.
Not sure what I'm really trying to say here, it's hard to think right now as I've slept 3 hours the last night and stuff...
But well, I think "useful" tutorials should be more easily found either way. Most Gen II tutorials out there are good. Same doesn't go with Gen III; there are useful tutorials out there but they're pretty much hidden in the mass of "simplyness". Of course newbies also need some guidance to start with but I think there are too many of newbie-friendly tutorials out there. When you learn to do 1), you can apply that knowledge of yours to figure out 2).

Yet even after pointing this out, I don't have any solutions on how to make things work out better...
pokemon oh no theres a sparkling magical storm coming version
    pokemon :o magical rain version
pokemon its raining men hallelujah version
pokemon holy shi i need to get home this hurricane isnt going to subside anytime soon i dont know if my family are still alive version
pokemon really bad timing because of hurricane sandy version
pokemon i hope this isnt too disrespectful version
You're right about having the same rules for threads related to every generation but for example RBY and GSC threads are being unnoticed simply for not having anything to do with Gen III which most people are looking tutorials for. Every once in a while, someone could have something worthy of asking, yet not explained properly already, and I don't think thread-revival limit should apply in that case (I think this should apply to all tutorials). But setting the rules to work in a way intended is a bit complicated; either have no thread revival limit at all or monthly limit or so.

Have you (and gira) considered adding additional sections to Tutorials, Research and Development and Tools sections? Having a couple of subforums related to game-specific things and hardware specific would be nice I think.
I know it's against the rules set to those subforums but I think it's a bad thing to close the threads related to GSC hacking once someone postes to them once. Because that way, they'll end up being closed forever and no one will be able to find them. Of course we've Skeetendo Inc. which is related to Gen I and II hacking unlike Pokecommunity of which most tutorials are for FR and Ruby anyhow but still, I don't think it's a good idea to close them once being revived every once in a while. But I'm not a mod and not the one who made the rules so just keep on doing what you guys feel most appropriate.
I did some calculations and I found out that in august, This acc was created. So August 15 - September 1 is 17 days. Then, September to October is 31 days. October to November is 32 days. 32+31+17 = 80 days. 3 months is equal to 80 days, which means instead of 14 more days, it's only 10 more days, which is the 11th of November!
!@#$%^*** I'm...gonna...die....waiting!!! can I make the thread now? considering I won't be too far away in the next 14 days or something, I'm completely sure I will still be on unless I die or something o.o
Thank you! It will (hopefully) be fixed the next time I submit! My apologies for not waiting 24 hours...I will be sure to wait next time ^^
May I ask if my thread will be approved? Or if it won't what do I need to add to make it good enough? ^.^ Thanks in advanced!
