  • Yeah, no kidding, and it won't be too much of a stretch that the anime will follow suit regarding the death of the anime franchise, especially given it's very poor ratings. Such a shame Pokémon has to go out like this. The rot started ultimately when they decided to remove Misty, and we're seeing the results right now, unfortunately.
Well, can't speak for Serena or Amourshipping's popularity, since I heard otherwise (namely, at a Doushinji convention in Japan a couple years back, Amourshipping wasn't really getting any sales, while Pokeshipping and Contestshipping were still selling like hotcakes. I learned that on Tumblr), and I've seen a few complaints about Serena's character. But yeah, agreed with you on how Lillie and Mimikyu were badly handled. That was just bad, and actually pointless as well. I could understand how, say, Drifloon would be portrayed differently, since the anime is ultimately geared towards children, and I don't think kids would like to see a Pokémon drag kids to hell. But this kind of crap? No. Shouldn't be done. And Marshadow reminds me: Not only did they do a disservice to Marshadow in terms of its description from the Pokedex, they even proceeded to have it completely conflict with its role in one of the tie-in manga, where it was an actual good guy, helping Ken become a stronger trainer and even being a bit of a mentor to him. Going against the game is one thing, but going against something that was supposed to tie it in to the movie?

Can't comment on whether Lillie's tolerable or not, but rewriting her backstory like that is definitely a disservice to her character. In the game, she WAS a tragic heroine who fled because her mom went completely nuts over the Ultra Beasts. None of that was even present in the anime. And honestly, if what you say is true and they even botched Trial Captains, the closest the game has to actual Gym Leaders, then we're in really deep crap right now, especially the anime.

Never having played the games after DP due to my being on boycott thanks to the writers' idiocy regarding Misty, I can't say one way or another about Mimikyu. I do know this, though, making them even more of a villain than the games implied is much worse.

Yeah, no kidding, and at this point, I'd argue SM is even WORSE than BW. At least BW attempted to actually focus on Ash's league goal (not to mention ultimately had a better grasp at continuity even if the way they did it was terribly done). Quite frankly, I don't care if Ash winning the league means the show is over, they should have had him win Kalos, especially when the lack of a league in SM (especially the anime: The games at least compensated by having you form your own league). Or if they REALLY had to have him lose, they should have tied it in by having someone recruit Ash regarding helping in the development of a Pokémon League. That would have been better than what we got right now.

Yeah, no kidding. And let's not forget that his first meeting with Iris had him mistaking her for an Axew. An AXEW, which even a quick glance between the two would have someone telling the difference easily (an AXEW is about Pikachu's height, while Iris is much taller). And yeah, at least BW Ash still manages to battle, while Ash in SM barely even gets THAT.

Wait, you mean like how Maron ditched Krillin despite having undying love for him? And yeah, I see what you mean. I'm not particularly fond of the group dynamics after the OS from what little I've seen or heard of them,, but even they at least BONDED to some extent.

I'll provide some links to Emperor's New School:

And you can probably watch the episodes online if you know where to look.

And yeah, a lot of the comedy right now is a bit cringeworthy. Like Zootopia. I found the whole gag involving the sloth DMV scene in the trailer to be downright painful to watch. I know people are trying to market little kids, but they could at least throw in a few parental bonuses to allow the adults to enjoy the experience and make them taking the kids to movies seem like a total chore for them.

Me too. That being said, though, right now, Dragon Ball Super's not much better right now, and it's less due to cringeworthy comedy as much that the show has gotten pointlessly dark (long story short, right now thanks to Goku reminding Zen-Oh about the new tournament he had promised earlier, various universes are going to fight for their survival and any who lose are erased on the spot, with Zen-Oh basically acting like a punk kid who revels in torturing animals throughout). It's almost as though the writers in Japan right now are utterly failing to find any sense of balance in things (not that I particularly care about balance myself, but...).

No kidding there. And I tried to be as respectful as possible and staying on topic more importantly. Well, at least I don't have to deal with Alexander18 on that front, don't like that he called me a liar despite my citing stuff that actually occurred on the show.

Yeah, don't remind me about their screwing up Alain and especially their screwing over Ash. Especially when they didn't even have a reason to go through with the status quo thanks to SM basically omitting the concepts of a gym and a league. And what's worse is that, even with all of that, I could have at least settled for Ash being nominated as runner up to go to Alola and try to oversee the creation of a new Pokémon League there, like in the games. Instead, we've got school stuff. And I don't blame anyone for thinking SM is an AU, due to the really poor transition between XY and SM (as bad as DP and BW's transition was, even THAT at least had Giovanni calling in TR as a subtle transition to the latter), and Movie 20's complete screw up doesn't help either.

What makes very little sense about TCPi's decision there is that even the youngest demographic has at the very least heard of Misty and Brock, if not desired for their return, considering a lot of them managed to vote for them in that Japanese poll (a little under half, as a matter of fact, who voted in that poll were 10-19 year olds), so it's not like bringing Misty and Brock back would somehow harm that demographic. In fact, Brock and Misty got first place and third place, respectively (Serena got second place), and the poll was who they wished to see return to the cast. Heck, Misty figurines were released last year (and I'd know, I got one, and even added in an exception to the boycott to exempt any Misty-related products partially for this reason, the other being that I feared my global boycott may have in fact killed the anime), and besides which, she's even part of a line of gachapon figurines that's due to be released in September (would have gotten one of her, but by the time I found it, the preorders had already sold out, thus forcing me to wait until the release date to get them via ebay). And besides, why promote Piplup and Lucario? This dealt with Kanto anyways, not Sinnoh. And even under the pretense of showing that generation of kids how they met, they could have at least put Misty and Brock in, since that generation of kids have at least heard of them.

Yeah, no kidding. Though give SM enough time, considering the direction the show is going in, I suspect the series will surpass XY regarding terrible ratings soon enough. And, eh, never was fond of The Force Awakens, anyways, or as I call it, "A New Hope remake", so having Yokai-Watch win over it means little to me even if it did make big cash.

Yeah, and in particular, it needs to make more money than the two combined to avert a third strike (and I have little confidence that it will, due to the Twitter backlash as mentioned earlier or how Japanese critics are deriding it as a cash grab.). Of course, even if it doesn't make the third strike, there's definitely going to be a LOT of difficulty making the next movie at the very least thanks in large part to their debuting Marshadow early, meaning they really don't have anything to work with after this (remember, since the Jirachi Movie, they've generally used the films to distribute any mythical Pokémon. Even Melodia, the one mythical Pokémon that wasn't the focus of a movie, nonetheless got a distribution in some versions of the movie despite lacking a role there. There were only two Myth Pokémon released for Generation VII: Magearna, and Marshadow, and the former was already the subject of a distribution with the Volcanion movie.). And from the looks of it, we don't even have any intel of a new generation being made either, which would at least suffice in a new movie if Destiny Deoxys and most of the AG movies are anything to go by, that and the Zoaroak movie. And if the comments on Pokebeach's review of the film are to be believed, they haven't even released a teaser for the next movie, which they usually do with movie releases. Though, to be fair, the movie debuted in France as a special showing, so I'll probably wait until the actual Japanese release before we make any judgment on that front.

Despite my less-than-favourable opinion of Sun/Moon as games, I will say that Popplio is one of the most adorable starter Pokémon from any region.
A little bit. But no matter where I go, Pokemon General will always be home to me.
I can be surprising! :) Johto and Unova have always been my two favourite regions so I'm super happy.
I doubt it was this bad before SM.

I would imagine debates is the hardest, fine line on what not to say
So I finally made my Wonderlocke thread, so it's time for me to hopefully redeem myself after all that's happened!

Not only that, but DINO finally got back to posting her Black Nuzlocke after three and a half months. She said in CC that she already beat the game, so we'll see how things went for her soon enough.
I mean. No one's going to be another Syd or Klippy lmfao. Everyone fills out their role uniquely to themselves.

Thank you so much! It's hard for me to believe that I'm about to hit the big 3-0 as well. At times, I still think that I'm in my late teens/early 20s.
Yeah, I would say what Pokémon they are, but that'd spoil what's to come if I do post it, haha.

Unfortunately, I tried to Wonder Trade last night and my capture 3DS' internet crapped on me so I had two catches I couldn't send off at the time. Then again this 3DS is six years old so it doesn't surprise me that much.
I also started a Wonderlocke in Moon. The first island hasn't gone so hot, with four deaths before Hala. But at least I beat Wishiwashi in a pretty anticlimactic fight. For Salazzle, there is a particular type advantage I have, but we'll see if that does me best. I said in CC that I plan to beat Lurantis before I decide on if I'll post it or not.
