  • Hehe, I know about the review challenge. I just didn't quite expect to be pounced upon all at once: I just get done typing up a response to one review and another pops up. =p

And I'm glad you liked the Italian! And I'll remember that. XD
With a little bit of inspiration and a lot of boredom, Chapter 4 of Best Laid Plans comes to be the quickest written yet! Just got it up! Feel free to check it out when you've got the time.
Yeah - I live in a different state to the major floods so I'm a fair way away from all the disasters Australia has recently had and all the people I know online who live in Queensland are fine... And cheers for reviewing the story. =D
Pffthahahaaaa. Yes, anon, you're a terrible reviewer.

Seriously, I'm not really sure. I'm getting the feeling that this batch of writers is actually receptive of people's advice. Like, they actually do want to improve instead of constantly defending their stories.
    Close. It's Malay actually. xD
It was the word 'Selamat' wasn't it? A cognate of the arabic salam and or the hebrew shalom?

Cool, I'll be sure to read that (look's really promising), though tonight's a bit tight seeing as it's now 4 a.m. :X (I'm a late sleeper...)

While we're at it, I'm going to refer you to Cutlerine's The Thinking Man's Guide to Destroying the World. Comedy in the vein of Douglas Adams is incredibly tempting and this guys is awesome at that kind of writing. Sadly, the fic needs more love.
Nope, that's fine; take your time. I for one, have been neglecting reading FF for quite a while now. Too many real books at the moment to be finished.

Why thank you my good sir, we shall joust once more in the intellectual arena. My only hope is that these accursed Augusts would stop interfering. I vaguely remember having been on hiatus last year around this time too... That was due to something academic though...
Quite well actually. There's only one problem, my internet cut off on the first day of the Get-Together. So yeah... There's a problem there...

Anyway, I just dropped by to answer a few quick VMs and set a few affairs in order. Internet's still on the fritz so I'm on and off iregularly. Also, I read your fic and it was nice to see that you used your three character's from last time. It got me to thinking about interlinked one-shots. Kind of like Isaac Asimov's, Susan Calvin stories.

Though, I doubt that you're going to do that considering the events in "There's Always Tomorrow."

Back to the matter of your fic, it wasn't particularly amazing, but I did like the feel of realism that you managed to create. I liked the twist at the end quite a lot. My proffesional opinion on the fic is that you did well, but you can usually do better.

So anyway, I also posted my 'would-be' SWC entry just to prove that I didn't chicken out. Though, I don't think I can prove that I only took two days to write it. I did if you were wondering.

So yeah, I'm looking forward to next year's one (or Halloween's one, if there is.)
that all makes sense :0 i'll amend that momentarily. ty. it's not rally a fully developed story though... it's more of a test of the characters and such... but i'll get someone to handle it.
I figured it was time for me to make an appearance. The negative to no longer being invisible is that people can see when I'm on, so I periodically get "WHY AREN'T YOU MODERATING???????????" or, alternatively, "WHY ARE YOU MODERATING MY THREAD???????????"

    I can't win.

On another note, I kind of skimmed the first chapter of that Digimon fic, and I'm left wondering what happened to Daisuke's characterization. It's like, yes he's protective of Hikari, but in the original, he's not as much of a jerk as even the dub made him out to be.

But yeah, you're right. Between the grammar and the telling of POVs (and poor Daisuke's characterization!), I shouldn't be worried.

Speaking of writing, any plans to enter this year's Writing Contest?
When Fuyu and I arrive at the sequel to Justified Lunacy (our Digimon fic, yet to be posted here), would you mind helping us? As in could you lighten the load a bit? There's six Digi-Destined kids. We can take two each, if you like. Kitamura (Kitty) and Kazuya (Kazu) are mine. The other four are Ryotori (Ryo), Yasuhiro (Hiro) and Reika and Jeremy. Take your pick. Only if you want to, that is.
I found that someone else is also doing a rewrite of 02. I haven't read it yet, so I don't know how good it is. But so far, that's the first I found.
Yeah, you're just not icomeanon6 without the G/S/C avatar. Like, if you change your avatar, I'm sure some part of the world would explode. It's just a law of the universe.

And, well, Bean really isn't icon-able. Plus my comics are buried on a book shelf, except for the one I just got.

That's actually something that I've questioned when writing. Both the attacks and the "Xmon evolves to...Ymon!" shouting are something that I played around with. I always found it odd to yell out the attack before using it (since the Digimon can fight on their own), since that does give the enemy some time to defend. On the other hand, it's pretty much canon for them to do that. They do in all the seasons of the anime the majority of the time if I recall correctly, and also in at least Digimon World 2. So it would be weird to not have it in...

Really, I've just seen the writers I follow use the attack cries pretty much all the time. I guess it just wouldn't be Digimon without it. You can try to write a scene without it and see how it works out for you (and I'll even look it over and see how it works, because I fail miserably at writing Digimon battles).

That broke my mind when I watched the Japanese version. I was so used to "Hand of Fate!" that when he said "Heaven's Knuckle!" in a higher-pitched voice...it just broke my mind. I think the dub is forever implanted in my head.
And now it occurs to me that I should probably work on my social anxiety problems.

That thread... It's just a whole mess now. The author with his "my story is just too deep to be understood!", people claiming that Pokemon should never be written about in a mature manner, and just language being thrown around there in so many ways. Sure, the author isn't looking good, but where did these "reviewers" come from?

And no worries about your own review count. Aside from your story, I haven't reviewed in a long while. I wasn't pinning any of the blame on you.

...I need to send you a picture of Bean. It would just make more sense, Magic Legume.
Y'know, I totally didn't mean to explode in a ranting mess in my last VM to you. I was just frustrated with the way things were going, and it was kind of related to F&W. So it just bubbled out into a few paragraphs of Astinus-rage.

    So apologies for that.
For a while, the way that non-constructive reviewers were dealt with was by having the more experienced members review, so that the newer members could see how things work around F&W. Unfortunately, people drop off the face of the planet/have uni and work/don't seem to care, so that kind of ended. There was also some problem with how it would be determined what was a helpful review or not.

I'm thinking that things should just go back to the way it was before where I hand out warnings/infractions for non-constructive posts. It works for the Art forums (which is where I got the idea), so it should work for us in F&W.

And now I can't unsee Pikachu as Winnie-the-Pooh.
Say (and imagine that drawn out to be just annoying enough without eye-twitching) if you need help with the Digimon aspect of your fic, don't hesitate to ask. I've been reading Digimon fics for years, so I have some knowledge there.
