  • Ah, brains. You just gotta blackmail them by threatening to poke them with a cotton swab to get them to shut up. Mine's been banged against various hard objects that it just kinda floats in a sack of fluid in my skull now. The reason I'm more coherent than other people sometimes is because I'm under the control of a sock-eating cupcake.

And yes, I did go to bed at eight in the morning. =D But I found another journal community that finds wank in various places, and I love those types of communities. Very amusing, and at times frightening, especially at the things one learns there. (Like I just found out Greensboro, NC is home to people who drive 80 mph or knock people down on the sidewalk. Now I have amusing images of Card in my mind pretending to be a race car driver. x3)

XD It's kinda sadly funny that you sent me your message seventeen minutes after I went to bed, and we're in the same time zone. I'm very easily amused.

According to my Decorating In Green: So You Think You're a Leprechaun book, lime green is a nearly shocking shade of green. It's like the label of a bottle of Sierra Mist (which is the closest thing I have around me that color). Kelly green is a softer shade that's more enticing, whereas lime green is more captivating. (lolwut?)

Since Big Al said that dramatic scenes "can have quite a bit of description to add to the atmosphere", I would assume that he meant that lighthearted scenes need nothing more than a few words. So it's preferable to have paragraphs upon paragraphs of description about a character's raven-colored soul, but if the character is happy, it should only get a word or two.

I hope that part of you that died wasn't important.

Aw, heck! You don't have to abuse the thesaurus to get groupies to defend you! You have to do...something. I honestly have no idea what it is that makes some authors on SPPf gods among men over there. I've never understood it at all how things work over there. o_O Most forums are very easy to understand how things work. SPPf? Not so much, especially in the fic section. I understand some things there, but not all the secrets.

I sometimes think that I should also go back, but...eh.

Unfortunately, Andy is claimed by me for the month of November. =( That new book by Card is finally coming out on November 11, and I'm there. And writing fanfiction. And wondering whether Andy is going to act like his "I'm obviously in the closet, but I like to deny!" personality, or his "I watch gay porn nightly for 'research' because girls are icky" personality. He will, hopefully, be acting like his typical pansy crying self that makes me want to wrap him in a blanket and give him pudding.

I'm so easily distracted. *goes to look at foreign covers of Ender's Game* The Israel cover has the Starship Enterprise on it! Ender meets Captain Kirk. I like it. The Hungarian one is actually cute. o.o Brazilian one? That one was frightening.

EDIT: Just heard of something amusing. You know the Lego Star Wars video games? I've heard one better: Duplo Firefly. XD A little figure of Mal, eight times larger than Lego-sized people, wandering around on a chunky spaceship. Probably wondering why people call him "Maul".
Well, it's better than me, who's been going by my current username for almost four years, but has no intention of changing it. XD

Well, a username change once in a long while doesn't hurt, especially since it's just a username you're known by in the community (rather than as an online pseudonym as your former username here).
Ah, so what I needed to sound intelligent is sleep. Like, twelve hours worth. Who knew? But with the amount of times that I've learned that, one would think that it would have sunk in by now, and I wouldn't keep staying up to watch movies until six in the morning. (But... But... Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones! <3)

Anyhow, The Big Al tripped me up as well, the sneaky arse. When he said that description doesn't need big words, I grinned because he was right! And then he had to ruin the mood by saying that you should get specific with colors. I mean, if I was to tell you right now that I'm wearing a green shirt, does it really matter if it's kelly green or dark green? (Do I even know what shade of green it is? o_O)

Of course, I also laughed at the Big Al saying that lighthearted scenes need basic description. I mean, has he even tried to read The Hunchback of Notre Dame? XD There was a lot of description for a play in that book. Heck, to stay in the fantasy genre, the DragonLance novels (which someone said aren't fantasy because they're based on D&D, which boggled the mind because what else would they be classified as?) have description when needed, whether the scene is lighthearted or not. Description is needed, however much is needed, depending on the scene.

But I would hope that it would be common knowledge that one does not abuse the thesaurus when writing, when trying to communicate with people. I'll admit to not being a good judge of what is thesaurus abuse, since I keep my vocabulary rather basic since I communicate on a daily basis with people who are of various intelligence levels. But, I mean, you write for your audience. And the Inheritance Quartet are marketed toward young adults. How many "young adults" do you know of that know what a "filigree" is?

Then again, the person claiming that Eragon is a good example of how things are done couldn't even make it through The Hobbit. >_> Yes, the long pages of description made it difficult to get through the rest of the LOTR for me, but I at least could make it through The Hobbit. That doesn't say much, since I also got through Eragon, but I at least like Tolkien because he could write.

For NaNo, definitely go for the angstbucket of a fic. Last year, for my NaNo, I had an angstbucket, and nearly would have gotten my 50,000 words (got up to 37,000, which pained me) if it wasn't for school/work. XD You can just have the characters go on and on about how the night is midnight black. Midnight black like their soul. Or, you know, witching hour raven like their soul. And the character's name is Raven Darkheart Malfoy (even if not in the Harry Potter universe, because Draco is teh KAWAII!)

Just remember that our dear friend Yami says to write prettyfully. So keep your thesaurus handy while writing, because no one will care if they don't understand what you're saying. Your words just look pretty and intelligent and people will just flock to your story to read about your Sue because they don't know wtf you're talking about! =D
Ah. Okay. Well, they still look cool, and it would be nice to get in contact with Rekhyt again. =D

Since when did two weeks count as a long time? Unless you mean a proper conversation in which we don't just discuss the fate of a roleplay and narrowly avoid talking about other, rather sensitive and irritating topics, then I completely agree with you.

You need to get on MSN more, Apple Jax.
(Ab)Use the thesaurus! A post by someone in that thread is very amusing. Very.

    Katamari sex ed!

Oh, maybe after the mindrape of NaNo, schoolwork for you, and full-time hours for me at the ghetto grocery store, our conversations will be more coherent. You know, not like there's anything wrong with talking about Jyou and sex. Takling about Jyou's kid and sex is a big fat "D:" in my mind.

Do you have any idea what you're going to be writing about for NaNo?
I know. :O Nothing much. The band gets to leave early and go to the Galleria tomorrow. I'm excited about that. 8D You?
Ah, I didn't even know the guy that got arrested. He lives down the block from my friend's house, though. Only heard the rumor from others. Oh yeah, when the school got drug tested, they definitely don't make it too obvious. They bring out the fire alarm so all the kids get out, and then the police barge in with drug-sniffing canines.

Ah, everyone on forums probably procrastinate their school/homework. I do it all the time, and I'm doing it now. XD
Not my forums, they're Aorio / Memory's forums. Rekhyt is there. XD

Nothing much. Our school just got drug tested, and a guy was arrested for having marijuana in his locker. Other than that, the past few days have been pretty dull and basic. How about you?
Ah, you're Jax Malcolm. I've heard only good things about you from Rekhyt. Should have noticed earlier.

Your friend request doesn't strike me as random at all. I was actually planning to Friend Request you last night, but I guess I fell asleep. You put up a fine debate, Xanthine. Of course I'll accept your friend request. :3
I posted the basic outline of my grading scale on the planning thread, but some subsections need some work. Plot, for example. I think what I'm going to do there is base the overall plot score on originality, plausibility, and holes. I still need to refine it further, though, and my other categories should get some work too. Eh, I'll figure it out in good time.
Adventure is love. And I have no idea if you already knew about the existence of that community or not, but it deserves pimpage. (I'm just counting down until Adventure 02 begins on there. Which needed more Jyou in it under general principle. But his random time-warping brothers made up for it.) Besides, there's also much much Jyou love there.

But nothing can beat out the theory of Spacetime (PalkiaDialga style!) The words "Palkia Shuttle" take on very interesting meaning when thinking about Palkia's design.

    =D??

I just find you these links so you can have easy access to quick amusement. Or so you can procrastinate further in your schoolwork. Or perhaps you can add new and exciting things to your papers!

Sex education taught by the cast of Katamari now gives interesting meaning to my favorite song on the Katamari Damacy OST. "I want to wad you up into my life. Let's roll up to be a single star in the sky~!" It all makes sense now!

Aw, I hope that this mindrape doesn't mean a lack of NaNo from you. Because the rants of why one gets plot bunnies for other works when you're supposed to be focusing on this one are hilarious to read. When they're happening to other people, of course.
It's funny how you can spend a day doing a little bit of this and a little bit of that and in the end you realize you've actually done nothing. Well, at least I can hang around PC with the lame excuse of studying English. English never was hard for me to begin with, though, so it's even lamer of an excuse. in this case you have to keep in mind that what I'm expected to know about English in school is mostly that I know which verb to use in which tense and that I know do I have to use "the" or not. Obviously, it takes a genius to learn something like that. *rolls eyes*

And for the book review, I don't want to think about it xD I turned it in today but forgot to correct the mistakes I noticed last night. Luckily I was late with it and I have alredy received the grade for that course (my teacher trusted that I'd turn the review in anyway), so it can't be that bad... I tried to mock the book as kindly as I could ^-^'

She did? I have to check that out. I didn't even know there are Star Wars fics in the first place. I seem to never learn that this is the internet and everything has been done. For example, pink Hello Kitty guns took me by suprise a couple of months ago...
Edit: the way I see it, you might want to review that fic anyway. I don't think it's too starwarsy for someone not familiar with the fandom to understand, because only the characters' names are from the movies... And she manages to change the name of her protagonist midway trough....
"Is it really all that funny that the girl still thinks it's just about making fun of Sir Aaron?"
Lol, that's what makes it even more epic. She comments about it and seemingly doesn't realize that it's more of a direct play off of her fiction. Oh well, what would we do about ignorant noobs here?

"Anyway, how about you? How have you been?"
I've been pretty good. Just blew like $200 in the past two days, $130 of which was on my GH Aerosmith bundle and my GH World Tour game. Surprisingly, World Tour has amazing features that continue to excite me even after playing it. Customizable songs, for instance, are one thing I look forward to :)

Other than that, school and work have, for the most part, dominated my life. I haven't had to deal with too much cramming from my professors (excluding my Political Science instructor, of course), but that's not to say that things shall stay that way. Other than school and work, I've been toying with a grading scale for fictions being scrutinized for entry into the FF archive we're working on developing. I have to further narrow some categories down, but am still unsure of exactly how I will do that.

WTF, it wouldn't let me quote things. An error appeared that said "BB code quote is not allowed." Weird.
    Because I care.

    Better this than that Wiggles video. ;_;

*looks at your last.fm list* =O Butterfly!? Wada Kouji... <3

I'll become a happy butterfly, and ride on the glittering wind
I'll come to see you soon
It's best to forget the unnecessary things
There's no more time to be fooling around

    <3 Butterfly...

Oh, and when I looked at your ff.net profile, there was a rainbow-spewing ad for sex education classes. My eyes were burned! Burned!

This is also why I haven't been on MSN for a while. My mind died this winter, and I just spout nonsense. (What the heck. It took me fourteen minutes to get this far. D: )

And another two minutes to post this. What the heck. XD
I don't think it takes a Star Wars fan to tell someone that the word "immediately" does not have a "k" in it. Or that salt + wound = ohmagodspain. Or that one should always make sure that your main character's name is spelled correctly from one chapter to the next. XD

It's all gone terrobly terrobly wrong.

As for that vampire pirate psychic alien werewolf that smells like strawberries writer, she has her own anti-LJ community.

    Boof.
    =P

This was linked on an entry in the Anti-Shur'tugal LJ community. And on reading it, it just seemed like something you would enjoy, to see what gets published in the world these days. I mean, how often do you find alien vampire werewolf psychic writers that smell like strawberries? And commacide. And "boofing" dogs.

It got a porny rewrite. XD

I think I'm just sharing this in case I do die from eating poisoned cookies from China. Something to remember me by.

    =D?
lol, two more years legally. I'm not nearly as innocent as I may appear, if I appear innocent at all.

Anyway, how have you been? Haven't really talked to you since I wrote that parody. I fixed it up a bit more, by the way, and made it more true to its inspiration. I also took some of your ideas and incorporated them, realizing that you were right about my intentions all along. For instance, Andrea now says "I know my queen" instead of "I know, my queen." Thanks for that suggestion!

Oh, and saying "by the way" almost killed me. That happens to be one more thing I threw into the parody after you reviewed it, courtesy of An-chan XD
