  • lol, don't worry about it. Few people here have noticed anyway. I just felt like proclaiming to the world that I have entered into another dreaded year of adult life. Yay for responsibility! lol.
I'm doing pretty good. I'm having a really peaceful ohase at school so I've had the time to do whatever I want for the past week. And still, somehow, I don't get anything done. Well, I should write a book review about a book I didn't want to read in the first place, but I still have time...

Practically the reason I asked you to review something I wrote is that, first of all, I don't want to be repeating some stupid punctuation or grammar mistake all over again because anyone didn't tell me it's a mistake (you seem to report every mistake ). Secondly, I'd really, really like to be a real writer some day (well, not with fanfic, obviously) and I think you can help me with that. I mean, you're super harsh on every aspect of the fic (yay for that, really)! Too bad some people *motions at Ekeshum* can't appreciate it. Then again, she's fairly young. Maybe there's just something about criticism you only get when you're "older".
Um, hi. I was just searching for fanfiction boards and sites and I stumbled upon a forum (Pokemon Fan Universe) and I noticed you're there, too. So, could you help me by telling if there are any good writers/fics that don't appear here or at Serebii?
Oh, and also, if you happen to have some time in near future, my ego could use a review from you. You know, to get me back to earth. I've been reading your reviews and I think I really need an extra harsh one. Nobody else writes them but you. And, you know, when this is not my native language, I need some slapping with things like punctuation rules and stuff like that. Many of the rules concerning commas, for example, have been news to me...

Oh, and how are you doing?
This has to be the most hypocritical post I've ever seen.

And don't post in the thread. We don't want a repeat of last t- *Shot*
    Hey, Jax! I've been wondering...who is that person in your avatar? I've been wondering that for some time. XD;
Eh, it's still being weird today. >>; Oh well. No one important is online...but it's not like I was waiting on someone or anything. -whistles-

    -hugged- :'D
I feel horrible. I missed your birthday. >: I was still grounded at the time...happy late birthday!! ^^"
Hey, just wondering, but is MSN working for you? It's not cooperating with meh. :<
Meh, people will come and go. I'm sure if you and I keep roleplaying together, some random person will sign up. Otherwise I may have to persuade some of my friends to fill out a character application.

That means yes, I do plan on keeping it up.

So how are you today, anyways? Any news I might find amusing/interesting?
Lol, that just made my day. Thanks in advance for the review, I really need one now that I haven't written much in the past, oh, four months?

There was a guy a while ago who got really angry with me for leaving a review, and proceeded to attack me through one of my other friend's fics. He told my friend that he didn't need to listen to me, which I would agree with, but what really set me off was the fact that he connected the idea of reviewing to that of talking crap. It was kind of funny though, considering that my friend had asked me to review his fic anyway, and also for the fact that the guy hadn't spelled anything right in his attack. I replied, of course, and told him he should proofread his insults. About one hour later, an extensive, almost painful review popped up in his fic, pretty much critiquing anything and everything. I didn't settle on bringing something up only once. I beat every error into his head. Ironically, this guy was temp banned soon after, and hasn't returned since.

Now that I think about it, the people leaving the reviews for Ekeshum's fics probably haven't even been reading them. They probably just see that the title includes "Sir. Aaron" and instantly assume it's going to include super romantic content. I know stuff like that happens all the time...

Oh, and I actually did get around to reviewing. I didn't end up reviewing the fiction I made reference to, but I got two or three up that night. Starting to feel better about myself. I thought I had lost my old touch.
Heh, I just stumbled across this writer called Ekeshum, and I read your review...

It's possibly the best entertainment ever. There's got to be something wrong with me if I think like this, but I really do ;_; I laughed out loud in some points of your review. I think I'll spend the rest of my life reading how you hit writers in the head with their own mistakes! *wipes off tears of laughter*

You should review some of my work sometime... I'd really like to see how that'd turn out. It would be helpful, if anything. Unfortunately I'm not quite as brief with my fics as this Ekeshum-person, so it'd be far more troublesome. Uhh, I better go to sleep, it's close to 3 AM here and that might effect my intelligence
Hmm, do you mean names in general or names from the Pokémon TV-show?

If you asked about the show, then I have to say there really isn't any major differences. I mean, Brock is Brock, Ash is Ash and Misty is Misty. In this case, the difference comes from pronouncation: for example, "Squirtle" would be pronounced more like "sqeertleh" instead of the "sque-doh". It's actually quite funny, because the voices of the pokémon are the same as in the English version of the series, so when I was small, I'd keep wondering why almost every pokémon talks by repeating their names but some, like squirtle, didn't. It took me years to realize this was beacuse of the translation. So, the names aren't really that different, it's just that when they're pronounced a bit differently, you can't tell they're the same right away.

And, if you were talking about names in general, which I frankly pretty much doubt, I can give you a great example: my last name is Perheentupa (it means 'family's hut', btw). I can't really explain how it should be pronounced, but not once have I gotten an English-speaker to say it correctly, and I doubt I ever will.

By learning only one language as a kid we really narrow down our potential pronounciation-wise... Many Finnish people speak English in a completely uncomprehensible way because they simply can't say the words correctly, and it annoys the hell out of me. But I guess I'm that way, too, so I don't know if I'm really the one to talk

Man, this must be one long visitor message, but it had to be in order to explain this fully. I'm sorry for this being so long, but hey, you asked!
Okay sorry, pokemon names that aren't capitalized look a little weird. Thanks for uh, clearing that up for me
Too many of these writers feel like people should be kissing the ground they walk on. It is rather annoying, and I intend to stomp on their parade (AKA give them an honest review) so they don't think this anymore. As Astinus has put it, nobody is a special snowflake and, as such, no one will be treated as such.

I, too, looked at this Ekeshum girl's new stories, and that spoof of the Little Red Hen was just ridiculous. Not only has she written three(?) fictions that all have the same setting and the same essential plot, but she has taken an existing story and just made it Pokemon-ish. I can't understand how people can praise her for her "originality" when she either recycles the same plot or using another authors material. This kind of gets on my nerves...

I did start to review one, but I felt a little overwhelmed at first, as I could see many technical errors after only a quick skim. I think I might try my hand at it again tonight...
Thanks. But its not like I was on much during the drama. What do you mean by new system of administration? the only thing i've noticed is that SA is on almost everyday, which seems to improve the problem with spammers.
Yeah, I understand the jerk feeling. I was sort of deterred from leaving anything more than a general review for authors because of that feeling. =\ I also wanted that writer (kinda forgot her name now) to actually take in constructive criticism instead of letting it blow through her and acting like it never happened. Besides, I've been in the same boat you're in and know how hard it is to get a writer to listen when you're the only person saying anything other than "OMG STORY GREAT!" or something like that. Hopefully I'll get over this problem I'm having so you aren't the only one leaving lengthy reviews. =\
