  • Nononononoooooo... I said 'writer's lounge iirc'. As in 'it should be in the writer's lounge if I recall correctly', not irc as in a chatroom. =p

It seems in a way you have too many ideas of how to go about things to me, which sometimes happens. In those cases second opinions can certainly help, so yeah, post in that thread and see what others think. Some writers here know AA pretty well too afaik so they may see it and comment on it (idk how active some are atm though).

Post what you think is relevant for the questions/problems you have imo.
It's getting kind of late for me, and the VM I had typed up was really confusing even to me. So after I get some sleep, I'll look through any of my writing books to see if there's advice to help you. And I'll be more coherent to explain my own way of dealing with your problem, since I had to figure out the exact same thing earlier today.

You could still make a thread if you wanted to.
Just a note, but I tend to write a lot on the fly myself after a hell of a lot of musing about things. Which isn't necessarily good but basically one way is to think the hell out of it and just go with it, but it's not something I'd necessarily recommend. XD

But a better way would be to also think about it and write it all down in ordr (ven if it's in your head sometimes it's better to see it written out), and then throw some questions at said plot. For instance, you sau you know what happens in what order, so it seems you already have the events sorted. What about considering how the characters react to said events, firstly in general and then in detail? What if the reaction goes like 'this' instead of 'that'? Think also if there's anything that doesn't make sense about the plot or how the characters react. Make some notes on that (either in your head but better yet in a word documnt/piec of paper/etc). Basically think about all the ins and outs for if you explore all the details arising from the plot it'd likely already end up being less rushed (and you're more likely to catch plotholes and whatnot). And showing how the events affect all concerned/relevant characters allows you to play around more with it and hence flesh it out. And organisation can work wonders.

Thre's more on that vein in the plot bunny thread sticky (first post) in the writer's lounge iirc - try checking that out too. I think the above migfht be a bit rambly but that's what exams do to you! So say if you want me to explain things better.
Well, I understand what you are saying, I don't know if I can help with the information you have given me.

I would say make a thread, but if you want something to happen, it is best to make it in the story where it seems more natural - or anywhere if you can make it seem logical or probable that the event has a solid reason for being there at that time.

    ..did that make sense?
I've written heaps and heaps of fiction, ask away and I'll answer to the best of my abilities :D !
