  • That's pretty sweet, man. :D As far as I know, one of my friends is writing stuff. He's trying to start a band, I think.

And good metal bands do come from AZ. ;) Greely Estates and Blessthefall. But yeah, good luck on the writing, dude! :D
Again, that's the ideal goal. In reality it will probably be far less, but the more I can do, the better. I can't write anything until I've finished my planning for convalescence+convergence (I promised myself that!). My plan is currently at just over 4,500 words. :/ Looks like the fic itself will be . . . substantial. *sigh*

Well, it's only personal if people know it's about you. :<
Ah, but you see - 1,000 words is my weekday goal. I've written 16,000 words in one day before. It's not like I'm planning to do that every day, but I'd like to do a chapter a day if possible. So on the whole, more like 49,000 words. I plan to write non-stop if at all possible, but I have studying to do too unfortunately.

Yeah, I'll enter. I'm a bit pissed off, though - New Game would have made the perfect entry, considering the theme! D:
Officially on holiday now~! It's time to get writing! (School's been out half an hour and I'm sitting in the town library with my laptop BD). Lol, summer partying. I have two weeks, and there won't be any partying going on . . .

Why thank you. It took me a whole ten minutes, lol.
Yeah, there are a lot of metal heads out in AZ. I hung out with a few potheads, so yeah I kind of new that, too. XD I want to go to Warped so friggin' bad. I hope I can. I wnna see TDWP, WIM, OM&M, AA!, etc.

Yeah, gotta practice like hell. A couple of my friends back in AZ sing and scream, too. As well as play guitar. :) They're really good, too. I wish I started playing guitar when I actually got it, like, a year ago. >__>
You can post the entry yourself if you want in the FF&W section after scoring - we'll just be posting the scores however.
I thought it was cool. I made a bunch of friends last year because of the music I listen to. Yeah, I'm a metal head. :) My favorite bands are Woe, Is Me, The Devil Wears Prada, Sleeping With Sirens, and Chelsea Grin.

I want to practice, but it doesn't really help that my guitar is in storage. D; I also want to do vocals (screams and cleans), but I don't even know how to use my diaphragm. :\ I guess I need to practice more, but it's kind of embarrassing when there are other people in the house, too. :x
Indeed, it probably will. That's the plan, anyway. I have another holiday the next two weeks (starting tomorrow afternoon) so I'll be able to get lots of writing done on both stories. :D

No, you're right; they're probably not. Hmm, Bulbagarden . . . to be entirely honest, the fanfiction section is much more active than here. They're all very friendly and welcoming, for sure (they love newcomers. I turned up, posted Crushed and got nominated for a couple of awards that same week XD) But yeah, it's much more active than here, and more accommodating than Serebii (uncouth louts, the lot of them).

    EDIT: ALSO THIS -

    #wastingtime #shouldbewriting
And on top of that, I imagine it might be harder to 'connect the dots', so to speak. Not to mention that if you don't write them until you reach them, they act as an incentive to finish it and get to them!

Yeah, well, fair enough. I know exactly how to bypass the censor, of course, but I'd only ever use it in fanfiction, where the rules are, admittedly, a little less stringently enforced. Serebii is much the same in terms of restrictions, if not worse. Would you believe, it censored 'bastard' and 'hee hee'? (though I think the latter is in relation to a notorious troll they had a while back, or so I'm led to believe.)
I sure don't plan to. BD *knock on wood* As for things I really want to write . . . yeah. I have good portions of the end of Champion Game planned out, and I am often tempted just to go ahead and write them, then leave them for later to actually put in. I don't know if that would be counterproductive or anything, though . . . And writing this detailed summary of c+c is continually making me go ZOMFG I HAVE TO WRITE THIS NOWWWWWWW, which is a good sign.

Yes, blood. I'm not going to be afraid to kill off characters this time around - even canon characters, which for some reason tend to be immortal gods in most fanfiction. And I might end up only posting it on Bulbagarden, because there's likely going to be a fair bit of foul language and stuff, the likes of which they have much looser restrictions on there. (ie you can post smut there if you want) But we'll see how it turns out.
Yeah, I've not had time to write much CG during the term, but I wrote a seven-chapter buffer in the last term break, so I had one to post just about every week. With convalescence+convergence (the new fic) I plan to write at least fifteen chapters before releasing a single one. I might not stick to that, but the higher I set my goals, the further I'll get before I give up. XP

But yeah, I've written 1,817 words of synopsis for c+c just this evening, and I am really loving the look of it. It deals almost exclusively with canon characters, which I haven't really done before. *fingers crossed* It's a bit dark, it's gritty and there will be blood. :D
STOP GIVING ME FUZZIES I'M STARTING TO FEEL I DON'T DESERVE THEM oAo

In related news, what we were talking about was making me want to write something darker (in terms of chapterfic) and I've been writing up a pretty detailed synopsis. I like the look of it, and was wondering if you'd be interested in reading a longer piece of work with that darker sort of edge to it that Broken had to a certain extent.

(and there is no goddamn way I'm dropping CG to do this, but I think I can manage two at the moment. CG's doing well, and I'd probably write most of this next project before posting it.)
Not only do you listen to awesome music, but you live in Arizona, too? :D I used to live there a few weeks ago, but unfortunately I moved back to Jersey. :(

You play guitar, too? I've been wanting to play, myself. I have one, but never practice. Makes me feel like a poser... :\
The idea is to have it run as long as I can. In terms of the fanfiction world, my eventual goal is to be one of those long-running, established authors in the league of Breezy and Dragonfree and the like. Ah, that'd be nice . . . Yeah, but it's definitely a long-term project, unlike anything I've tried to do before. XD

That really is the best part. I write because I love it, and that's all I can really put it down to. :D
Yeah, that's how I've been riding the late beginning/early middle of Champion Game - pretty much on the fly. The thing I'm agonising over most now is how long I want it to be. I mean, I could make it go for the full year that Ren's Champion, which would take aaaaaages (like 1000 chapters ffs. Well, by the current rate, one year would take . . . *maths* 3405 chapters. Shoot.), or I could condense it into a fic that basically follows the plot far more closely. In that case, it would only go for maybe 120-180 chapters? Still heaps . . . depends on the reception I guess. My impulse is to go for the latter, have some form of conclusion be reached, and then fast forward to the following year's League Championships. At that stage, I'll see whether I want to continue it. If I do, he wins. If not, he is defeated and must step down. Of course, that still leaves room for a sequel, either with Ren or with the new Champion.

Yeah, one of the best things about the arts is just how much they evolve when you're doing them. Whether it's music, writing, drama or visual art, the end product almost never ends up the way you intended it. Even Champion Game is already vastly different to how I imagined it would be when I started.
I feel proud of getting this far - I'm notorious for dropping fics at quite early stages. I write just enough to get people interested, and then I drop them. However, I've gotten over that stage, hopefully - I'm now at the part of the story in Champion Game where things start to happen, and . . . I'm lost. XD I've never got to the midgame before, so to speak, and I actually have little clue how to handle it. D: But we'll manage.

Well, there's no real obligation to finish what you start! XD With NaNo, they're happy as long as you get stuff written down. And it's true that it really does help - my first NaNo, in 2009, ended at just over 50k words and really got me into writing in a big way. I came back to NaNo last year and did 127,649 words in the month. (Turns out that was more than anybody else in New Zealand XDDD)

Oh shoot, dude, go for it. I can't tell you what not to do, and I wouldn't if I could. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but I think taking inspiration from something and making it your own is better yet. =D
I guess it woudn't be all that hard to find . . . XD And yay! Free time is good! Free time allotted to my stuff is better still! \o/ (You know, CG reached 100 pages in OpenOffice yesterday XD)

Yeah, NaNo's great. And there are people on there who have no idea how to speak proper English, let alone write a cohesive book, so you'd in good stead. XD

I try to do 2,000 words a day, and if I have a couple hours before bed when I have nothing else pressing to do, I always try and get as much writing done as I can, because that's when my writing brain works best.
afaik, half of them weren't even posted here. I had a stint at Bulbagarden under a name you'll never find, so that's where some of them ended up. XD Yeah, the horror one's on a bit of a backburner right now due to homework, national newspaper short story competitions, and Champion Game, though.

NaNoWriMo is National Novel Writing Month. It's not a competition in the sense of having someone judged the 'best' - if you reach 50,000 words in a month, you win. Done. And each year there's a few thousand more winners. It's a really friendly community, and it fosters writing like you wouldn't believe. Unfortunately I'll be unable to compete properly this November, thanks to piles of exams, but it's something I plan to do every year for the rest of my life otherwise. (stupid NaNo being in the middle of NZ exam season).

Aaaah, you flatter me too much. I know I'm a competent writer, but being a good (or great) writer is the goal towards which I'm always moving. Also, no matter how good I may or may not be, it means nothing if I can't damn well finish it. :x

That said, off to finish this History assignment so I can sit down and write another 1,000 words before bed. :D
