  • That's what make the shows so great to begin with. Aang was raised by monks and didn't really need anymore spiritual training, but his attachment to spiritualism often got in the way of him learning how to physically manipulate nature (i.e. he struggled a lot at learning Earth Bending from Toph). Korra, however, is a rambunctious teenager who couldn't have cared less about spirituality until she was actually forced into it by her uncle (which I why I say Season 2 was a lot better than Season 1, because there was a lot better character conflict).
And that's why I sent you a Friend request. :p
It takes a special type of person to actually care that much about the generations of tomorrow, man. So kudos you, keep doing what you're doing!
I know... >.> They really don't put nearly as much effort into making shows like that anymore. The only one that kind of holds to it is probably "The Legend of Korra," and that's actually based on a mid-2000s cartoon/anime called "Avatar: The Last Airbender." It's not the same genre as all those superhero cartoons, but it still holds to an actual storyline like a lot of cartoons used to.
I tried watching an episode, but stopped a few seconds in... It's just unbearable... -.-

The original Teen Titans was following the format of most shows based in the DC universe, i.e. Superman, Batman, Green Lantern. I'm not the biggest fan of DC Comics, but I'm aware of their characters enough where I can follow the plotlines of their cartoons and, trust me, they do NOT disappoint. If you think Teen Titans was good, you should look up the old episodes of Batman Beyond. It's set in a future Gotham City, wherein Bruce Wayne has taken on a protégé whom eventually takes on the role of a new "Batman" some years after he retired from the role. There's a lot of intense fight scenes and good action to keep you enticed in the plot, as well as a really dark and sinister air to the whole scenario. I'm actually surprised that it only lasted like two or three seasons. It was actually a really cool show.
Oh, god, YES! That was one of my favorite cartoons at one point. The "new" Teen Titans ruined it completely, though. I mean, I know it's a cartoon, but YIKES! I don't think I've ever seen another genuinely good cartoon boshed so badly in the remake. I mean, the first one had a lot of comedy in it, but there was generally a storyline to follow. TT Go is barely a comical... O.o
Well, the series had quite a history to begin with, but the reboot has been pretty good. Unlike some series that try to completely revamp characters and scenarios, they're actually trying to keep some consistency with the old show by making direct references to events that happened while keeping to the fact that it is an alternate universe now (for instance, the Enterprise's crew originally found Khan's army adrift in space, but this time Starfleet scouts did and he got resurrected to help a high-ranking member of Starfleet develop a military-based starship, something that contradicted the protocol of Starfleet in general since they're supposed to be strictly explorers. The justification for it, though, was that Starfleet learned about the existence of the Klingon Empire between the previous movie and Into Darkness).
hmm mainly just a place for myself and others to list their OCs and discuss them. such as... what inspired you to make this OC, did you make this OC for a specific fandom, if you could pair this OC with any canon character who would it be? etc things like that :D

in my first post I'd probably include 1 biography and then a bunch of questions for others to answer to get a fun discussion going. ^^

and okay, I'll be off to the Writer's Lounge soon then! thanks so much for your help!!
hello! I was told by Magic to ask you about a question i had...

I was wondering if there is a thread to post/discuss your OC biographies with others, and if not, where would a thread like this go?

thanks very much in advance :)
Well, like I said, the new movies go off on a tangent from the original show, but that's a point. The original Spock (Lenard Nemoy) makes a mistake in the original Trek's future that results in a rogue Romulan (one of the alien races in the show) going nuts and trying to destroy Spock's homeworld of Vulcan (the Vulcans are a peace-loving and intellectual race, where the Romulans are warlike and imperialistic). When the Romulan confronts Spock in a space battle, they both get sucked into a wormhole that leads about 100 years into the past. The Romulan attacks a Starfleet ship under the command of the future Capt. Kirk's father, and it causes such a disruption that the entire history of the universe is forever changed. As a result, all of the friendships that form during the original Trek's history occur in different ways (namely, Spock and Kirk start out as rivals in the new movies, whereas they were friends in the original show). Sorry if it sounds like I'm giving out a lot of spoilers, but I'm really not. That's just the first ten minutes or so, and the new movie is about two hours long.
Yeah... Star Trek is not for everyone, though I would suggest watching the new movies if you get a chance. Into Darkness is especially cool, since it's based on the conflict between Capt. Kirk and a maniacal madman named Khan. It was a key part in the original series and the build-up to the second movie "The Wrath of Khan." The timeline has shifted in the new movies, but there are a lot of intense character conflicts that they brought into them too (which are all captured in the original shows as well).

The pod race was about the only thing I actually liked about Episode I. Otherwise the movie just bored me... Sorry if I sound a little harsh, but I just felt like it was all done wrong...
Well, I'm not high on Star Wars to begin with (Star Trek, now that's a good franchise!). Episodes I through III really didn't have a point. They were supposed to be a prelude to the original shows, but they didn't have anything to really do with Episodes IV through VI and the fandom despised them for it. Personally, I just thought they were bad movies.
I'm aware of that. But, my point is more that, in a lot of cases, it's so badly done that everything looks all the worse for it. For instance, the newer Star Wars fics look even faker than the originals because the CGI was done so cheaply that it made them look like a really bad cartoon with people in it (don't get me wrong: Star Wars is actually a really good franchise; Episodes I through III ruined it for me, though.
CGI ruined a lot of stuff after 2000. I have to say that. Before then a lot of things were done with expensive special effects. Some CGI is great, but a lot of it is done so cheaply that it ruins what could've been good movies.
I haven't watched either, but just because they don't sound interesting to me, not because of the ratings. I will admit that there are a lot of 80's and 90's flicks I watched just because they were gory, though. If you can sit through Robocop 1 and 2, you'll see why I say movies today try to hard (and those were made when they couldn't help it if things looked fake).
This is why I usually get more into E, E10, and T game, as well as G, PG, and PG-13 movies. I mean, there are some exceptions, but they're few and far in-between for my tastes.
    You're right, I haven't played it.

Well, I stand by what I say: most M-rated games are unnecessarily violent or grotesque in my opinion. While I understand trying to appeal to an adult audience, but there's a fine line that too many of them cross to where it's just stupid violence and it doesn't really serve any purpose in the game at all.
I have "words" to describe Call of Duty, but to each his own. I generally will not play anything with more than a T-rating, not because I think all M-rated games are bad but they try to do too much in terms of violence, swearing, and gore that it just becomes impossible to keep playing without forcing myself to. I mean, it's literally unbelievable and most of it doesn't really have a point in the gameplay or storylines in general from what I can grasp. At least T-rated games just tease or hint as stuff without overkill.
Pokémon...violent...? Did your parents see games like GTA or DOOM? Usually, the argument against Pokémon from parents is that it's a kids game and you shouldn't be playing it if you're a teen/young adult. I'd know, my dad still gives me crap about it from time-to-time (at least until I suddenly decided to get back into T-rated RPGs like Fire Emblem Awakening and Etrian Odyssey last year. He kind of shut up after then, since he remembered that I actually play THOSE kind of games).
    Yeah, they would.

Well, changing topic: how far back does your interest in Pokémon go back? I've been into the games since Gen II, but I recently started playing the Gen III games again.
