Gen 5 is... a gray area for me. I don't wanna bash it because a lot of people loved it and I see no reason to rain on their parade. I'd have to be really butthurt to put effort into hating on something a lot of people loved, especially considering the fact that BW(2) were great games if you look at them simply as video games, whereas I felt they didn't exactly fit much with my take on the Pokemon franchise. The anime was a god damn abomination though.
But yeah, Gen 6 is just downright amazing. There's a lot of critique I can throw that way, like how easy X&Y are and how small the new roster of Pokemon is, but I'd be lying if I said any of that has hindered my enjoyment of the games. There is just so much that's magnificent about these games and the divinity they have achieved which honestly overshadows the downfalls.
The new Pokemon roster, however small, is beautiful. I love every single one of them down to the Mevolution designs.
The graphics/3D environments/Pokemon models/battle design/Kalos region are just, auohhhh, SO BEAUTIFUL UHHHHHHHAAAAA. LIKE, ummmpphh. Hnnnnng.
And the music OH MY GOD
And then, the best thing about these games is the fluidity of the gameplay and how all the elements come together in such a beautifully choreographed way that brings the heart of the Pokemon franchise to life. The adventure, the growth, raising your Pokemon, it all feels so immersing and real. I've put down 43 hours of gameplay right now and I only have 3 badges, and I regret nothing. I AM EMOTIONALLY INVESTED IN MY TEAM AND THAT MAKES ME SO HAPPY.
AND THE ANIME OH MY GOD
AND RSE REMAKES.
AGHHHHHH
