Oooh, I like. The braid fits surprisingly well and the Mega Beret Rim TM adds more to the overall desgin, even if it's a small touch. The new touches fit.

I like her design a lot more now. Her current design gives a more headstrong look to her, and the eyes getting darker rather than going to white adds more depth. There's just more going on in terms of colors and shades and it makes her more visually appealing, though...

...I mean, I really like the hair on the new design, but I have to wonder what you're going for. Post Gen-3 they really started moving away from the more standard hair designs for the female protags and going for designs that would grab the viewers attention and really make them stand out. All things considered, I think the previous design you showed had a more exotic design of the two if you're going for a game protagonist-esque look. It's more audacious and one of the first things that'll catch your eye from her. The newer design has more apparent character and fits well with the more subdued color, though, and I'd say if from the new design I get a feel for what she might be like from her face and clothing, from the older design it's more from her posture and form.

Not sure, but MAL says the first season will be 24 episodes. New opening era introduced a lot of new characters- moreso for the arc that's happening right now than because it'll be long, but I really can't see this show just being a 2 cour.

But to keep you at ease, I definitely can't see it being half the length of a fight shounen.

I'd say the anime, only because it's airing. I haven't read the manga but I've heard almost equal praise about both. I'm personally following the anime since it's been pretty great and "budget" doesn't seem to be in its dictionary. Plus, the OST and voices really add to it. Plus it's only 20 episodes in, so it's not exactly imposing.
