  • OH NOES! NUCLEAR APOCALYPSE!

    HOLY CRAP, WHERE?!

I'll send you a PM or VPM of the finished product once I post it on the thread if you would like, so that you know exactly when it is do

    Sure, that'd be cool. =D
That community on LiveJournal is home to a lot of interesting (and mostly) agreeable thoughts on fanfiction of various fandoms. If I find any other rants on there that are good, I'll pass them on. A lot are interesting and informative reads.

It's rather a shame that I have to show up with my bold blue name, mod stick, and snarky attitude to get people to listen to you, and the rest of the "normals". All I pretty much did was repeat what you guys said, and that's when she realizes that she did something wrong? Shame. People should be respectful to everyone, not just figures of authority.

Heh. I just know the history of the rules because I posted them. XD What the rules say? That's a different story.
I doubt that the "no changing the font" rule was in effect in March. The previous rules before the current ones had no mentioning of it, and the current rules were posted in April. (Fun fact: PFF is the only writing forum that I've seen that bans the coloring and different formatting of fics and mentions so in the rules. XD)

You were polite in your response. Saying that you couldn't read her story because of the font size is perfectly all right to say. (I have no idea why people were jumping on you for just saying that. I mean, I wouldn't expect you to strain your eyes to read a fic that's just plain impossible to read. I know how you feel, too, since my eyes are horrible. Where I've been, it's perfectly all right to tell people that their fic is unreadable and so un-reviewable if no one can read the thing.) Then she had the nerve to tell you to change the settings on your computer, which takes more steps to do than for her to edit her post and remove the font size tag.

It also bugged me when she started rambling on about the font. It just annoyed me, because it seemed to be as if she was rubbing it in your face that she knows more about fonts than you do. (And I lulzed loudly when Jax corrected her.) It was an exceptionally wrong attitude to take to being corrected.

I've researched capitalization in titles, and met the same standard advice that I've heard for years. Aside from our good friend e.e. cummings, capitalization is always used somehow in a title. And on all the Internet sites that I've been on for fanfiction, the times that I've seen fics with lower-cased titles have lead to fics that were, in a word, horrible. I've never seen it used by an "actual" writer as a style choice.

Her attitude to being told that she should fix her font to allow her fic to follow the rules might keep her from getting any sort of review. She was corrected on something that basic (making her fic readable, never mind the fitting in the rules) and reacted harshly about that. If corrected about anything else, how badly will she react then?

(Of course, that doesn't even mention the fact that she admits that there are mistakes in the story because it's a "rough draft". That's something that's been ranted about already here.)
You know, I'm really not faulting you at all. Because seriously, to not read the rules after coming back from a hiatus of that long? My "lack of common sense" sensor went off strongly on that one. The current rules were posted in April. She left in March. Even if I didn't change the rules, one would think that after a many-months-long hiatus, that the rules would be reviewed before posting. It's just...common sense?

But yeah, that reaction to being told to follow the rules? Holy crip! I was seriously faceplamming while writing my response because the whole attitude didn't make sense to me. Especially her condescending remarks. "Who died and made you editor of the New York Times?" I was laughing. XD

Oh gods. I just had a terrifying thought. Now there might be an influx of n00bs going "My lack of grammar skills is a stylistic choice! I'm being professional, you idiots! D<"
    Hey, any time. =D

Seriously, though, I honestly couldn't resist. I don't think she's been around the forum for more than a long while, else she'd probably notice that what you said wasn't the worst "I can't read this" message that's ever been dished out. As for whether or not the title thing's a fad, I wouldn't exactly call it such. I've heard people on SPPf do screwy things with titles (like add random characters), but I haven't seen a lack of capitals in a title since probably 2004. It's hardly professional, yes, and when I recall it being done intentionally (as in, not because the author is illiterate -- which happens more frequently than when it's done intentionally, unfortunately), it was usually to title an angstbucket of a yaoi fic written by teenage girls. Not saying that it is. I've read part of it so far, and it seems like a darkfic linked to your average prophecy. *shrug*

Of course, then you've got the point that telling us to tone down our attitudes when she came at you with a snappy one herself. That's what got me the most, which I've already stated in the thread.

Incidentally, sounds good with your grading scale. I'm interested to see how this all works in practice, so I'll keep an eye on the thread.
You know, I pretty much understand how you feel with that modem and router. A year or so ago we had some serious problems with our modem. It kept cutting off the connection every two minutes or so. And at time internet was the only way to contact my boyfriend who lived in another city, so you can guess how pissed I was. I gave a few, hmm, inpolite-ish calls to our service provider... They couldn't fix it, so we changed to another company. This far all has gone well after that.
Also, as you may notice from the planning thread, I've done pretty much nothing for the past week or so. With you and solovino gone all I did was slack off... Well, I did read some fanfiction, but those were mostly ones we had already chosen.
And I can't get one stupid moderator to contact me. I even joined a board to contact her. Sheesh.
Anyway, good to have you back ^-^ I've missed you, actually... Besides, I want to see that parody you said you were working on
Hey Post Office Buddy, are you in a good mood? If you are, can you review my fanfic nao? Master Post Office Buddy?
Oh well, what would we do about ignorant noobs here?

I was nearly tempted to tell her that the fic's making fun of hers, but I suppose it is better to sit back and chuckle.

Customizable songs, for instance, are one thing I look forward to

Ooh. Yes. That part looks good. =D (Too bad I can't afford it... and don't have time for it anyway. XD; )

Good luck with school, work, and the grading scales, by the way. What did you have in mind for the latter?

    Also:

An error appeared that said "BB code quote is not allowed." Weird.

Tell me about it. Apparently, we're restricted pretty much to the basic codes -- like, bold, italics, underline, links, pictures, and font color. Por que, vBulletin? Por que?
Ha. Fair enough. No one really is. XD

I've been all right. Shuffling all over the place to get work done. It's the middle of the semester, so my professors are cramming all kinds of fun things to do into a couple of weeks. Eventually, though, I'll find time to sit down and read the revision. It can only be made of win. You're welcome about the suggestion.

Is it really all that funny that the girl still thinks it's just about making fun of Sir Aaron?

Anyway, how about you? How have you been?
haha, I thought about a shipping parody today, too. That one would definitely be about AshxMisty since those seem to fill the internet. Of course, the girl would be called Mist- er, I mean Rei or some other Japanese name and the boy would be Ash- er, also some other Japanese name. I thought I'd continously use the wrong names "by accident", expecially in particularly exciting (or "exciting") parts.
"Ooh, I love you As- er, I mean Ikari (or whatever)!" said Mis- er, Rei.
(Japanese names because the writers of AAMRNs seem to love using Japanese words.) But, well, I'd have to actually read a whole AAMRN fic to parodize the concept, so I think I'll pass. For now.
Yeah, I noticed that, too. Besides, the page is freakin' impossible to use! I tried to keep the "author's page" in the background and open fics in new tabs, but the damn page jumped back to the "awards"-page right after I turned my back. What's with that?
And, yeah, the fics had some heavy un-readabilityness (lol, maybe I shouldn't make ups words) to them. And besides, all the awarded ones were AshxMisty-fics! I almost drowned in sappyness before I decided to give up...
Funny how I still seem to be online the same time many Americans are. Or, well, there's a silent phase right after I come from school, when absolutely nothing happens here and no-one says a thing. Man, I'm hungry!

I think I just found something very, very promising. As in long, finished and seemingly good. I have to skim trough this a bit first, though. And when it comes to searching, I've been doing practically the same as you, although I've followed some links and found new places. Have you been to the place caled Pokémon Tower? Man, that site was not well made! I almost shot myself when trying to get some sense out of the place.
Phew! I thought of a new fic idea on my way home. I wonder if I should resist the urge to write and let my idea develop a bit or should I just write the damn thing and then concentrate on other stuff..? One way or another, I've found a relatively promising fanfiction board. I can't find a mod from there but it's all right since there aren't very many fics.
What are you, the biggest stalker there is? she sure is confident, I'd say. And her sig just keeps amusing me... Either she's madly in love or just likes to brag. Judging by what I know about her, it's both.

It seems like I missed some fun at the lounge ^-^' You guys wrote a lot. And about exploding bunnies, too... I'll get back to searching later tonight, after I get back home, and I can do it for the whole night. Well, technically I can, but I don't think my mind could take it.
    Wait, wait, wait.
    When did your name change?
Jeffback was a lot shorter to write! I should probably go and fix the first post of our thread, but I'll do it tomorrow. But that sure was sudden, you know. It almost startled me!

Good to know you didn't completely abandon the project. I'll be the first one to read it when you post it! Of course, you'll ruin my plan by posting it at some odd time (odd for me, that is), but never mind.

My posts are becoming pretty epic, and I should probably go to sleep before I get too excited. Who knows what might happen at the Lounge if I start to be really vivid! G'nite and all that, good luck with the scale. See you later!

Aww, damn, I'm all talk and no action. Like I'd go to sleep that easily! Instead, I went to the lounge and read your post and the other posts and laughed and I have to stop myself from posting more or this'll never end. I'm killing myself, and I'll sure be late from school tomorrow. But this is a good enough reason, right?
I'd go to sleep around 4 AM if it wouldn't make my life impossible. Night is the best time of the day, I think. I'm always feeling the most creative at nighttime. Besides, I have the most fun, too, as anything makes me laugh at this time of day. And when I say anything, I mean anything. I should probably read that parody of yours at night sometime, I think it'd have me laughing from the beginning to the last words... Which reminds me, I stalked a bit and noticed you were planning another parody. Are you still at it?
I know what you mean  I went trough all her posts, too, to find something hilarious. Which I did, eventually. The thing that cracks me up the most is the way she's displayed her will to quit this place in public but yet seems to be online every day. Ahh, the mind of a preteen...

Ahem. I propably should be going to sleep soon. If you remember our time difference, it's 1.23 AM here now and I have to wake up early tomorrow  But it's not like joining PC ruined my night sleep, I've always been like this... Even as a baby! I should be living in States or something, my inner clock suits your time better :\
