I'm a little confused... if changing the user name EVERYWHERE is too server intensive, why not have some kind of client sided script that loads user names from a list of member IDs and their Names? Changing user #a's name from Steve to Gregory would only require one edit.... Would that not be...

I loved the 2nd Gen because it was something new to the 151 that I'd been use to. Nothing can compare to that "OMG NEW POKMOEN@@@@@" feeling. :/ They do it every few years now, so meh.
