I accidentally stumbled upon the dub while looking for it, though, and I still can't take it seriously. It seems the dub has a thing for "Where are you"-ish lines.
What do they do with the ban list? Though I shouldn't be surprised they'd use even that as a marketing ploy.. xD

Damn. How could they even change that much about the thing and release it under the same title? I mean, sure, they need to make it children-friendly, but honestly those are pretty major plot points they're cutting out. And if it's only the first two arcs, I can only imagine how bad it was after. Admittedly though I'm curious if someone actually did a full comparison with the entire series.I would imagine it'd be on the Wiki, though? Episode by episode.


Honestly, a lot of what you mentioned should've been kept. Yeah, it's more... Mature for a children's show, but if you think about it a lot of children's shows have more mature themes that are similar-ish in nature.

Yeah, they probably will. xD Though the only thing I could think of they'd tone down is Yuya's father being seemingly gone. Speaking of which, I wonder what they did with Yuma's parents in the dub.

But yeah to my knowledge Yuya's father disappeared because he... lost a duel? which if you think about it slightly already light as it is since it isn't like he's dead, but they'll probably find a way to make it even more light-hearted. xD

Yeah I agree... Considering the fact they kept releasing these silly expansion packs that added a second circle pad and they sold terribly.. xD I'll definetly be buying it though, despite the fact I don't feel as though I should be forced to buy this new 3DS just to have the best experience. xD

I'll be buying the Xenoblade game that comes out with it, too. I own the original Wii version and couldn't recommend it enough.

Oh god, yeah, seeing it dubbed first would definitely not be good. xD Hell, the astral death scene might've been ruined by the dub already for me xD but that's fine.
Thankfully, most spoilers floating around are arc V so I think I'm safe for now. And if anything I can finish it up during winter break if possible. Or at least get to that point - I think I'm 40 episodes in? Whenever kaito's brother goes crazy or whatever.

I think I saw a clip of the scene - it's "Astral is..." like you said. It really makes more sense than "where are you" and kind of adds more emotions, because with "Where are you" it kind of doesn't make you really think he's actually dead (at least I didn't get that impression), whereas "Astral is..." really sounds more like that.

So he's pretty much the icing on the cake on that point, then? xD

Ohhh, okay. The Shaddolls do seem pretty overpowered. Kinda have to wonder what they were thinking when they made an archetype that essentially screws over almost everything.

I suppose they do have regulations, though I wish they would keep certain aspects - like the "Astral is..." thing instead of "Where are you." I don't know it still has more emotion in my opinion. Though with Yuma's voice in the dub... It'd be more funny than emotional.

The 5D's dub, from what I remember, is pretty dull. Though like you said it's definitely not on the level of badness of the Zexal dub.

Kind of makes me wonder how the Arc V dub will be.

You know, after rewatching it, I realized something - Yuma clearly saw Astral fading away, so why would he say "Astral, where are you?" when he gets back out of.. wherever? Like I don't know if he says that in the original, but either way it... Doesn't make much sense. (And honestly, the amount of times he said "Astral" and "Don't leave me".. It was way too many. If he does it in the original it probably sounds a lot better, because he doesn't have that weird voice xD It'd probably be really hard to get used to.
Honestly, I'm sure it's a lot better in the original completely.

I should actually continue it, honestly. I've seen a few things about Vector here and there on various sites (nothing too major), and he does seem really bizarre. xD If I could remember where I left off I'd definitely watch some more of it tonight.

Thinking about it, I think a lot of these things that get dubbed that end up on things like Cartoon Network or Nicktoons are really just... Half-assed dubs. For example, watching the dub of digimon compared to the subs is a completely different series. There's one point where someone's almost drowning, and in the dub he's worried about something like dry cleaning fur? And in the sub/original he's worried about... you know, actually dying. So really I think if it's something like YGO or pokemon or something along those lines, original is the way to go xD
And especially the dub of Zexal. I'm sure in the original, the scene with Astral's death was much more emotional. And didn't involve a lot of... What the dub had.

Taking the Zexal dub seriously would probably be a really bad idea, honestly. I forgot his name (Yuma?), but the protag also sounds... Odd. I'd imagine that'd definitely not help with emotional scenes.
