Aquaman is a damned badass and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Green Lantern is still my favorite DC hero(es) though. In brightest day, In darkest night, etc.

Anyways here's the beginnings of the character, personality and Origin story are soon to be added.

(Though it should be implied that his "powers" come from a mystical scroll that accelerated his training process over a period of four years non-stop training, thus allowing him to quickly master many different forms of martial arts and gain the ability to control his chi.)

He's designed to be flawed in many ways and actually pretty easy to kill all things considered... but at the same time he's capable of being a threat to every other character created so far. (I think anyway. I've run scenarios in my head and he should be capable of at least fighting everyone else, should it come to it, with his abilities.)

Consider him the absolute anti-hero.

Hopefully he's not too OP, he was in my first draft but I took a lot of precautions to try and balance him.

It will be revealed in his origin, but Edward actually lives a pretty normal life outside of his hero activities. He's just an average twenty-something year old working as a waiter and living by himself in the big city... granted he's a bit of a dick, but you know.

Consider the following SU as affirmation of my reservation. The character is far from finished and has yet to be properly proof read but I'm tired of writing for this moment and would like to submit what I have so far.

"There's no need for anything fancy. I don't let people know who I am without a price to pay. My identity is hidden completely for the sake of ease. The Jackets comfortable, the shirt doable... and those are my favorite pair of jeans. Fashionble and not too tight. I look like any other twenty something year old in this city... and that's the way I like it. Oh and I suppose that I'm not always the most dedicated to actually shaving. So I probably won't always be as smooth as I am in the image I have provided for you."

Combat Attire (Costume):

"The jacket, gloves and trousers are formed from an experimental military grade polymer designed to provide basic resistance to heat, cold and kinetic forces applied to the wearer. When exposed to one of these outside extremities the suit will contract at a molecular level briefly in order to resist the attack as best as possible before loosening back to its original qualities. Due to the fact that the polymer is plastic based it also has a minor resistance to electricity, however this is indeed minor as it still stings like hell to get jolted. When not retracted the material is flexible and easily shapes itself to the body when preforming acts of extreme acrobatics or attacks in combat. The inner layer of these articles of clothing is laced with a green mesh of basic rubber, easy to move in and it prevents the kinetic energy of my own movement from locking the suits defensive capabilities by acting as a buffer. This precaution is put in place as when the suit contracts as a defensive mechanism it becomes much more stiff and heavy than it is normally, thus hindering combat movement. Oh... and they're water proof, so that they're not ruined when it starts to rain. I hate rain.

The mask and undershirt of the gear shown are completely bulletproof, but this is the only major resistance they possess. They are made from standard riot gear materials and do not possess any special qualities. Military grade polymer is extremely expensive... and lets just say I didn't exactly "buy" mine so a return shopping trip to the source would be very ill advised.

Boots are standard military grade available from a wide variety of sources. Tough, long lasting and I've been told that it's exceptionally painful when they are used to kick opponents in delicate regions.

The dagger is a device of my own design linked by a wire to switch held in my opposing hand. When activated the dagger can deliver a staggering 3.6 million volts of electricity on strike. Roughly three times that of some of the most powerful police grade stun guns and tasers. The excessive voltage is added to ensure that the electric charge takes effect against super powered opponents. However, as a result the electricity is usually dangerous to the average human... I usually try and incapacitate them by other means as a result. For my own safety, the dagger is programmed to automatically shut off its power supply when in contact with H20 molecules. Unless a massive amount of water comes into contact with the weapon quickly, this fail-safe usually prevents short circuits and self-harming electrical discharge."

Chi Control:​

The source of Edwards superhuman combat abilities. Due to the events that took place in his origin story Edward has practiced for four years non stop to master his body. Barely taking breaks to eat or sleep Edward has learned everything he could from the teachings of the ancient masters of body and mind from centuries ago and the results have been outstanding. Thanks to his determination and the accelerated learning provided to him by ancient scrolls, Edward is a master of various different martial arts and is able to channel the energy flowing through him, his chi, to boost the physical power of each and every individual strike.

The chi also allows Edward to move much faster than the average human, Edward is no Flash and his speed is not superhuman, but he can still run faster and jump higher than the common man, often using his abilities to escape tricky situations and engage in parkour for quick travel by foot across the city.

However this mastery of self energy comes with a major downside. If Edward fights for too long or pushes his limits too far then he risks entering a state of "numbness" in which his chi is totally spent and he reverts to a state less than that of a normal human. Weak, slow and incapable of fighting at all. He has thankfully never entered this state outside of daily training exercises, but he is constantly aware of its threat and presence. Thus, he tries to keep the effort expended in combat to a minimum while also doing his best to defeat foes quickly and easily.

It is rumored among the civilian population that the Renegade once produced a massive blast of energy from his own body to defeat a powerful foe. A legendary technique known as a "Chi Blast" in which a normal human can manifest their own internal energy as a physical form. However... the amount of energy required is so immense that it leaves most people out of commission for days, sometimes even killing the user. It is unknown if The Renegade is truly capable of such a feat, but if he was then it would surely only be used in the most dire of all situations and not for ANYTHING less.

"My "Super Powers" come from a pure mastery of human capability and natural energy. I fought to get what I have, it wasn't given to me as if I was a small child without a toy. The scroll only accelerated the process, with enough time I would have achieved this alone."

Echolocation:​

The "eye holes" on Edwards mask are in reality simply painted on. Through his chi Edward is able to hone his sense of hearing to ridiculously accurate levels. So powerful can he make this sense that he purposefully covers up his entire face to prevent all other sense bar touch from interfering, thus boosting his hearing further. The only openings in the mask be the edges... and Edward only stops himself from closing these up so that he can breathe.

To Edward, sight is a vulnerability and a hindrance in combat. The eyes are weak and easily damaged and should only be relied on when other senses are not an option. Sight gives only a certain field of vision, while hearing offers a 360 degree range of sense... even further when Edward focuses everything into this finely honed sense. Edward can sense enemies from any direction when in combat, he can hear their very movements... the friction between their muscles as they approach him... when distracted by fighting the range of this incredibly accurate hearing is roughly ten feet, when outside of combat but not focusing his hearing for a specific purpose, this range is expanded to about twenty feet. When his hearing is completely focused and he channels all of his chi into it and nothing else, then the range increases drastically to a solid mile in all directions... however when focused to this point Edward is incapable of all else besides hearing and this includes movement of any sort on his part, making him vulnerable to attacks from considerable range.

It is essentially impossible to sneak up on Edward for the large majority of people due to this state of being. However it is still technically plausible to do so. If someone were to move incredibly quickly then they might reach Edward before he could react to his hearing of them. If an entity was also able to move towards Edward without making noises due to friction (for example is someone was capable of phasing into shadows, or if they were a being of pure energy thus meaning no muscle friction *hint hint*) then said individual could easily approach Edward without his knowledge.

The glaring downside to this ability is that Edwards ears are unnaturally sensitive. If a high pitched or incredibly loud sound were to be played then it might temporarily deafen Edward, thus completely blinding him. This may also force him to take off his mask and force him to rely on his eyes for vision, revealing his secret identity and also weakening his hearing due to his reliance on a different sense.

If Edwards mask were to be broken or otherwise forcefully removed then he would have no say in his other senses being active and thus his hearing would be weakened through pure distraction, rendering it rather easy to sneak up on him or to avoid his detection.

"Vision is an easily disabled tool, it requires light and a lack of interrupting stimuli. It is easily impaired and hindered. Sound is not and when one practices one can pick out even the most subtle noises amid the chaos of combat."

HVK (High Voltage Knife):​

A weapon created by Edward for the purpose of killing and incapacitating superpowered individuals. The knife can deliver three times the voltage of a high power taser simply by coming into contact with the static electricity surrounding a living target, the electricity will jump from the knife and "travel" through an opponents static field to jolt them. This close range jolt is deflected by most forms of armor... and isn't even always guaranteed to take effect... and as such Edward doesn't tend to rely on it all too often. He more commonly aims to jab the knife into his opponent and allow the electricity to flow directly through their body.

As an added benefit, by holding down the power button on the activator for the weapons charge, Edward can continuously pump energy into the weapon. This will not increase the voltage as excess energy will just bleed off, however the constant flow of energy through the blade will super heat it. Allowing it to easily cut through tougher materials and also letting Edward use it as a means of melting softer objects and starting small fires.

For non-lethal take downs Edward will attempt to stab the knife into a limb or shoulder. While for lethal attacks, Edward often tries to target his attack at a vital organ or necessary survival area, frying the mentioned body part and leaving the opponent dead. Or, you know, he could just cut their throat. It's still a knife after all and cutting a persons throat usually kills them. Just because it's a high voltage weapon doesn't mean that it can't be used for more basic attacks. Again however, the majority of these attacks will not affect opponents with tough armor or impenetrable skin. As such, for those battles Edward tends to rely more on his skill with martial arts, sometimes opting to not bring the knife at all due to his hands being more reliable.

"If I need you dead it works. If I need you alive it works. If I need to cut through or heat something up it works. I designed the weapon with practicality in mind."

Adrenaline Shots:​

Edward keeps five syringes filled with adrenaline on him at all times. The use of such incredible amount of human chi and energy wears Edward out quickly in combat. As is always painfully obvious, Edward is still a human and as such he suffers from human fatigue. Even as one of the fittest men alive he cannot keep fighting against incredibly powerful superpowered entities such as Gods and aliens without breaking a sweat. When taking part in such rigorous combat using so much physical and mental energy he tires quickly.

The adrenaline is a solution to this.

When in a state of exhaustion, about to completely run out of energy and go numb, Edward will quickly inject an adrenaline shot into his neck and pump his body full of energy. This allows him to keep fighting for an extended period of time and with five shots always at the ready he is capable of lasting in even the longest of battles without running out.

With this however, comes the negative effect of drug use in general. Withdrawal symptoms and cravings are slowly beginning to become more prevalent in Edward and while his mastery of body and mind stop him from becoming a common junkie, he can only keep up these activities for so long before his being can't take any more.

☆ Martial Arts Discipline:​

Trained at an accelerated rate to be a master of almost every known martial art, Edward is a powerful hand to hand fighter able to deliver devastating blows to enemies with precise, well timed, chi powered strikes. The martial arts has helped him personally as well as physically however, the training making him a much more dedicated and determined person in all regards. His training thought him that if he set a goal in his mind and worked non-stop to that end that he could do anything. He could achieve anything. He just had to give himself to it, he had to devote everything he had to achieving it and if he did then he could! He knows he could!

With this ability and belief in himself, Edward proceeds with his self-assigned goals and works to make the World a safer place for humanity as best as he can. Just like he promised to.

"There is no skill more pure then dedicated talent and mastery of the body as a weapon. Take your energy forms and water manipulation and begone. Transform into a beast or shadow and slink away. Use your godly divinity to find a path that doesn't cross mine. I don't need your parlor tricks and power crutches to win."

☆ Clinical Efficiency:​

Edward is good at his job.

If you want something done then Edward will get it done faster, better and with greater success than most others. He is not afraid to sacrifice unnecessary factors in order to complete his task. Be they aspects of himself... or the entirety of others. In his four years working as a vigilante he has developed a reputation for not exactly playing nice with the other "heroes" of the city. He hasn't been as active as the big names out there, but the little reputation he does have isn't an incredibly popular one. He is not afraid to sacrifice the lives of his fellow "upholders of justice" if it means getting the job done. He might even be liable to take his allies out himself if he feels like they're getting in the way of something important. He has a job. He wants to get it done. There's no arguing or questioning morals involved in that. That's just the way it is. If somebody doesn't like his methods then they can just avoid him and stay out of his way. If they choose to interfere then he will remove them and continue.

In some ways... a strength. Though in other ways perhaps this aspect of Edward ia his greatest weakness.

"I know what I have to do. If YOU don't then it isn't my problem. Just stay out of my way and you won't be an issue."

☆ Vast intelligence and tactical procedure:​

Edward is nothing short of a genius. He is incredibly intelligent and is capable of coming up with vast strategic plans, if combat were a game of chess then in most circumstances he would be three steps ahead. He is a a tactician and he knows his limits, he doesn't put himself into situations where he knows he'll lose and he isn't afraid to play dirty to even the odds against some of his more overpowered opponents. He is capable and willing to exploit every weakness his opponent has, be it an emotional or physical one. He is known to use manipulative tactics to force his own victories and he is painfully aware of the power that instilling fear and brutality in opponents can cause.

A fast learner, Edward picks up on new skills quickly (partially thanks to the legendary scroll which gifted him his abilities) and as a result is occasionally capable of pulling a victory out of nothing thanks to some unexpected skill or unorthodox plan. He's also incredibly tech savvy, being more than capable of creating various machinery and reverse engineering technology far beyond his pay grade. One of his primary weapons, the HVK, is a device of his own design and every piece of his costume was hand crafted by himself with combat functionality in mind.

"It's petty to hate me because I'm smarter than you."

☆ Fearless:​

Edward is almost entirely without fear or intimidation. There is very little that can frighten this man, as his vast amounts of planning and chess like assumption and adaption can prepare him for almost every scenario. Despite being somewhat weaker when compared to other heroes in the physical department, Edward will willingly take on opponents whom might arrogantly consider themselves above him in the power scale.

This is a mistake that Edward does not usually allow them to make twice.

"If I know the risks and how to avoid them, then why would I ever be afraid?"

☠ Loneliness and Emotional Instability:​

Edward is a man whom has lost everything. His family, his friends, his home... he is completely and utterly alone in the World and this painful reality tortures him. He has developed and unstable emotional situation which he hides behind a myriad of walls that take the form of sociopath tendencies. Beneath the shell of a man he hides behind and hiding behind both the physical and metaphoric mask that he wears is a broken man.

Edward knows that he isn't healthy. He knows that his head is a mess and it might just be the only thing that scares him. At night he has horrible nightmares, broken and terrifying dreams about all that he has lost and the methods by which he has lost it. He dreams of his future, of the life he will lead until he dies. Is this his only destiny? Is this fighting all that's left for him? Those thoughts tear him apart, those dreams rip through his sanity and his reality cuts the deepest gashes into his mind.

In the end, the fearless Renegade is the most frightened and fragile of us all. But the mask he wears hides this. He thinks it protects him. But in the end, it may just be stopping those willing to help from reaching him at all.

"...gone. Everything is... gone."

☠ Humanity:​

Edward is human. All of the abilities he has are drawn from the pique of human condition and training but in the end he is still only human. Using his selectively designed costume he protects himself from many form of attack that would kill him instantly and by using his technologically advanced weapons and tactical mind he puts up a fight against those of a higher essence... but in the end he is a human. He has no "superhuman" abilities, he has just trained those of a natural human to be on par with such. It's true that the legendary scroll he has obtained helped accelerate his training... but it didn't give him anything supernatural.

He is strong because his body is toned and trained to the physical limit. He is fast because he was trained day in and out to shave milliseconds off laps of the city. He is a genius because he has honed his mind and natural talent to a fine point and he is respected and feared due to the imposing stature and appearance that he has given himself by purely human means.

But none of that removes the fact that he is still a human. If shot in an unprotected area, he will bleed and most likely die. If his legs are broken then he cannot walk nor magically heal them. If dropped from a great height then his body will shatter. Every year he lives he grows older and frailer. He is mortal and mortals will die by mortal means.

"My greatest of weaknesses is what I am at my core. How fitting."

☠ Arrogance and Pride:​

Edward refuses to rely on others for anything. He feels that if something has to be done then he can probably do it better himself anyway. Letting someone else do it for him will only lead to them getting in his way and becoming a liability. If forced to leave a task up to someone else than he will... but Gods above believe him when he says that he isn't happy about it. He knows he's good at what he does and despite avoiding situations he feels he is incapable of preforming he will still occasionally push himself too far or stretch himself too thin.

It's more that he feels like he HAS to do everything rather than him WANTING to do everything. In his mind he's simply the only one capable of rising to the task at hand. Anyone else would mess it up because in his eyes they're all less than he is. He scorns those whom flaunt their abilities when they received them through means of birth or accidental procedure. He is nothing more than a highly advanced human and yet he is still better than they are. How could they possibly think they could do his job better than he can? How worthless. He doesn't want them going around and doing their objectives in a half-assed way when he could execute them better by himself. It might be nearly impossible, but he'd rather do it all himself then let someone less qualified do it for him.

He rarely voices these opinions of superiority, as he doesn't want to get into any unnecessary conflict that would tire him quickly, but if he feels like another hero is being insistent then he will quickly "put them in their place".

This arrogance has time and time again lead him to exhaustion and even a few failures in his career and deep down he knows it is a flaw. But his twisted personality just can't bring itself to accept the help of others. Not anymore.

"It isn't my fault that you can't do your job correctly. Honestly just step aside and let me handle this. You're just in my way."

☠ Substance Abuse:​

In order to keep himself going in combat for extended periods of time, Edward counters his human fatigue and incapability to continue using shots of pure adrenaline. The syringes he uses contain a concentrated sample of liquid adrenaline that takes a green color through the tinted plastic which the syringe is made up of. By injecting these syringes into the main arteries on his neck Edward is capable of hyper charging himself and thus allowing himself to continue fighting past even his considerable limits.

However this is not without cost.

Slowly the drugs are starting to have negative effects on his body. His eyes are often bloodshot with bags underneath them... and he's starting to find that over extended periods of fighting his time before he needs the adrenaline to continue is becoming less and less. He feels himself occasionally craving the adrenaline even when outside of combat, but his mastery over his chi allows him to bury such desires for now. When sleeping he occasionally suffers withdrawal symptoms which increase the frequency and vividness of the nightmares he has suffered from since the beginning of his training. Sometimes he finds himself unable to fall asleep at all and this can lead to exhaustion and sloppy mistakes in the field.

While the negative effects of the adrenaline shots might not be overly obvious just yet. As time progresses they are set to only get worse until Edward is at a serious risk of falling seriously ill or even dying.

"This is stupid. I can handle myself, I can resist any weak urges and temptations. If it means protecting this city and world from beings like me then I am willing to make this sacrifice."

The Lotus Inn​

The night had been long and horrible again. Vanish rarely slept, Kyusai occasionally slept to remove exhaustion, but Vanish didn't... and the individual lying out sprawled on the rented bed was definitely Vanish. It wasn't that Kyusai suffered from a split personality, only a conflicting one. The guilt he felt for the killing was Kyusai, the little mistreated boy, while the pleasure he felt was Vanish, the psychotic machine whom no longer had to care. Depending on which one he was channeling, Kyusai would mentally refer to himself as either or.

He hadn't called himself Kyusai in a very long time.

It was bright out, January first in his new playground. Time for even more death and destruction to be had. It had started to grate on him a bit lately, the killing that is. It was getting easier with practice, he was getting very good at it and it made it so easy. The rewards were getting more bitter rather than sweet due to the sheer repetitive nature. Last night, he had heard a girl burst into the bar downstairs, screaming and shouting, crying and moaning. Her best friend and her brother had gone missing on the floor below. They hadn't been responding to messages either. She was worried for them, she was afraid that they were dead.

Not even a smirk. Vanish couldn't even smile at it anymore. He had considered taking in some reactions, going downstairs and comforting the girl, asking her questions about the transpired events. Some sort of cruel irony to perk him up. But he really just hadn't been bothered.

How long had he been lying there now? All through the early morning since he had arrived in his room, he hadn't slept a wink and counting the hours kept his mind busy. He supposed the exact time frame didn't really matter. He thought back to the message he had only just received, a man named Devon asking him and countless others to meet up at the new boss door for yet another battle to end all battles. How boring, he didn't even want to show up, there was no spark to any of it anymore. He had no more drive in his life... no more inspiration in his art...

...or did he?

He thought back on her again, the face, name and persona of the girl from the night before. "Lacy, Lacy, Lacy..." He rolled the two syllables off of his tongue over and over. He couldn't quite put his finger on it, but she enticed him, there was a certain... purity to her. So far away was she from his overwhelming corruption that he felt drawn to her. He wished to know her, befriend her, make her his ally... and then he wanted to ruin her, he wanted to kill her brutally and see the pain of betrayal plaster onto her face. He wanted to taint her purity.

Yet it made him feel... sickened. As if everything else he had done was okay but for some reason these thoughts conflicted and didn't sit well with him. Why exactly had he said that about his name to her? Why had he told her that he wanted to disappear back then? This Lacy girl... she was a danger to him, he realized now, her purity served as a mirror for what he was becoming and what he could have been.

Pure.

"Ha... hehaha... HAHAHA!" He laughed out loud with no fear of being heard from his bedroom. He could just make some excuse if anybody questioned him so it didn't matter.

Lacy would have to die. He would have to make sure her death was brutal too. To re-convince himself of who he was now, to taint and destroy her purity would surely crush his final regrets and force him to delve fully into this beautiful madness of his. Yes... he was glad he met her. Even if he was bored of the normal killings, she would keep him occupied for a while, she would be his object of destruction and he WOULD destroy. She was just a metaphor for what he was now destined to be.

Corruption.



"Oh? What's this?"

Vanish had received another message. Two in one morning, the Devon fellow and now this? What was this all about? He wondered and decided to browse through his menus with a lazy yawn. He went to his inbox and found a single unread message. Now then, whom was this from?



What on Earth? The data for the players name wasn't found? Was this some sort of glitch...? Or had someone somehow masked their identity? Was there even a way to do that? Vanish hadn't heard as much, but then how? What sort of mysterious sender would deliver such a thing to him? What kind of message did someone with enough prowess in the game t such a thing have for him?

This was all so very curious.



Vanish closed the message with a dark smile and deleted it from his inbox. Just when things start to get boring, he's informed of an opportunity he would have missed, the chance to bring entire crowds of players a drop of fear in their hearts. The chance to spread unease around so many. He would go to the boss fight, wait to see whom got the spoils... and then he would take care of them while they were basking in their glory. Silently, without any fuss... they would be gone and Vanish could send a small unnerving ripple through the masses.

Excellent, yes, magnificent even.

The boss, he imagined Lacy would surely head there. She seemed the type to push forward with a heroic charge. Use her as a free pass, a companion to fight the boss with so that he might see the strongest individual for himself.

Then he would kill them. Then he would kill Lacy. Perfection. Absolute perfection. Vanish rose from the beds and equipped his weaponry and armor, a massive overbearing smile spread across his face as suddenly he had what he was missing before.

A worthwhile objective.

The bar area was fairly quiet as Vanish sat at a table in open view of the stairs leading to the bedrooms. Not so close to be obvious, but close enough to be easily notable upon coming down. Lacy would see him... and she would talk to him again. He had absolutely no doubts about this. He knew she would. Then it was a simple matter of convincing her to take him along to the boss room. He could find his mark and form a more solid relationship with Lacy through combat with the newly discovered beast.

Two birds. One stone. He liked that.

With his twisted thoughts hidden behind a pleasant smile and a cup of hot coffee. Vanish waited for the new object of his obsession to awaken and greet him. After all... to her? He was just a troubled soul in need of a friend.

"Haha... HAHAHA! HAHAHAHAHA!" The inner thoughts of Vanish burst into a hysterical laughter, perfectly concealed beneath the calm and friendly face that Kyusai wore.
