Tower Defence
At first the attacks of Contib and Corvace flocks had been nothing more than a nuisance, but now the landscape of the Oceian desert looked like a scene from a nightmarish horror movie as an enormous armada of midnight black birds all but blotted out the blue of the sky, painting the ground below in an eerie shadow.
Immediately upon hearing word of the effectiveness of the tower from Theseus, Oceia had put forth an immediate request for schematics and materials to produce a tower of their own in the wilderness northwest of Aquilus Town – a town famous for the numbers of flying types in the area. Now swarms of not only Contib and Corvace but also Duxaven plagued the men, women and pokemon working on the tower. Offensively, even Duxaven was not an immensely powerful pokemon, however a huge contingent of these pokemon on the offense was terrifying to behold. The flying-types dived from above in squadrons, using their powerful talons and beaks to rend flesh from bone and tear at eyes and tongues.
What was worse, several small tribes of Emvy, Taiemu and even a few Cassowarria had joined the fray, lashing out with horrifying snaps of their beaks and mutilating kicks with their powerful, clawed feet. Even as the murder of fliers above dived down on the workers and their pokemon, the ground-based pokemon ran amongst them at high speeds shattering bones and piercing organs. The bird pokemon that usuall fascinated tourists through Aquilus were now a terrifying army, staining the dirt with blood. The entity behind the attacks knew that efforts were being made to combat it, it had felt its slave's defeat and death in Santuare and its loss of control in Theseus and it could feel Oceia rebelling against its will and it had summoned forth a legion to massacre those that dared oppose it.
Even as scientists, engineers and technicians hurried about the structure, connecting wires and dishes and working to readying computers, soldiers and pokemon on the ground fought to fend off the attacking flying-type army. Thunderbolts, Ice Beams flew into the sky to strike down aerial attackers even as hails of stone flew about closer to the ground in attempts to deflect the ground troops. The small group defending the tower was easily and quickly being overwhelmed though. High up on the tower a Contib pulled out a mans tongue, only for a Duxaven to grip him with its talons, digging deep into his shoulder blades, and swooping him off the edge to drop him to his death. On the ground a Lairon's seemingly impenetrable steel body was caved in by the kicks of a Cassowaria, it's trainer screaming on the ground as she was dissected by a group of Emvy. All around the frightful scene, fates such as those were being met and it was only a matter of time before the tower's defenders were defeated and the structure toppled.
The Oceia region's president had hoped that a covert mission wouldn't attract this "Mewtwo's" attention, however it now seemed that this had been foolish. He had ordered immediate reinforcements be sent to the tower, but they were too far off and too much blood was being shed. The build team had to finish the tower before their protectors were totally overwhelmed, but this seemed a bleak prospect. For hours upon hours they toiled and fought, with success imminent but progress painfully slow. Below the scientists the last of the soldiers and their pokemon fell, screaming as their feathered attackers ripped apart their bodies. The tower workers were frantic; they were running out of time. Several of them released pokemon of their own and picked up tools to defend themselves with. Fighting not just for their lives, but likely the lives of the entire region.
The slaughter continued, bodies of both people and pokemon falling from the tower in droves. Only four scientists remained huddled in a small group around a control panel. A squadron of fliers dived for them even as a group of Taiemu hurried up the last of the distance between the control panel and the tribes. It was then that a finger was slammed on a button, and an pulse of blue light erupted outwards from the tower, knocking away the frenzied pokemon with their terrible, glowing red eyes. The shadow above the tower begun to disperse, stars now sitting in the sky flittering dim light down to the ground below and revealing groups of confused pokemon standing amongst a field of corpses.
Much damage had been done to not just Oceia, but the world, but now at least it seemed the ordeal was over with the tower operational. It was time now for preparation… and later retaliation.
