Sandshrew! It's adorable and quirky -one of those Pokémon which charms you from all of its aspects without being too 'in your face' (like Pikachu is).

Also I prefer Sandshrew over Cubone myself.

I base it almost entirely on looks, cuteness and how charming the Pokémon is. Although don't underestimate the Sandshrew family, they can pack quite the hit with the right support!

Pikachu! I love Pikachu! My Pikachu in HeartGold can defeat ANY Pokemon type, even ground with a bit of strategy. It's such a great Pokemon and it's so darn cute! :D

I like Venomoth quite a lot. I even thought EV train one but I guess I should wait till the next gen. Especially since its Poison type has some interesting new effectiveness against some special new type :D
