    1. Fakemons - UGH. I don't care what anybody else says about them, but I think it's horrible. It makes the hack feel really... lame.

    2. Countless glitches...

    3. FR/LG graphics. Sorry, even though the majority of the people here disagree with me, I hate the FR/LG graphics. They look horribly cartoony.

    I can't stand:
    1. Ugly fakemon. I love ones that are well done, but when you just slap an ugly sprite in and refuse to change the cry and/or moveset (I'm looking at you, Quartz!), then it really turns me off.
    2. swearing/adult content. I don't mind the occasional, milder ones (not that I'll say them) quite as much (even though I still do mind), but F bombs and S bombs are horrible, especially when used frequently. And adult content like sexual stuff is just wrong, it shouldn't be in there. For instance, I played Pokemon Frosty, didn't see a warning for that kind of stuff... and when I first met May, she was looking at porn. I'm not touching that game again.
    3. Bad grammar/internet slang; I can understand if the person doesn't know English very well, like the creator of Quartz, but otherwise, horrible grammar and internet slang really tick me off.

I Like the FR/LG R/S/E graphics, but when I see them in a hack, I think:

    1. The owner of the hack can't change them, because they are bored, or just because they aren't graphical artists.

    2. It's not a good hack, because the owner probably uses many things from the original ROM. That annoys me.

Also, I don't like seeing typical things. I like original features. Not old features or trends re-made.

...so if you think that the tiles Nintendo made are better than anything tile artists come up with, you're a bad hacker...?

No, I don't think that's what he was saying. I think he's made a decent point. The tiles Nintendo made are nice (well, FRLG's ones, anyway), but graphics are a relatively straightforward aspect in hacking, and it can make the hacker seem a bit lazy when it comes to the tiles. Obviously this is not the case for most hackers, whose scripts and maps make up for it and such, however since it is, as I've said, a relatively straightforward aspect in hacking, some people expect, at the very least, new tiles in a hack.

Well, what he said was that he thinks two things.

The first is that the hacker doesn't know how - ie. they're a bad hacker.

The second is that the hack is bad - ie. they're a bad hacker.

I see what you mean, however, but I don't agree. If you map well, it doesn't matter what tiles you use - unless they're actually bad.

    Exactly.

Okay, first of all, I didn't say anyone who doesn't know how to edit graphics is a bad hacker, as hacking has more than graphics.

Second of all. By "bad", I meant "boring", and yeah, if something with entertaining purposes is boring, then it's bad, no matter how awesome its other features would be, in my opinion.
Also, if a hack is bad, that doesn't mean the owner is a bad hacker. I never said that. I know great hackers whose hacks aren't any good.

  • What turns me off to a hack is the player talking. It just destroys the Pokemon feel to me, seeing as there is no real Pokemon game where the main character talks, period. (I have a feeling I'm wrong about that and someone's about to point it out to me)

Bugs, fakemon, 4th gen pkmn in a 2nd or 3rd gen game. I really hate them because my game locked up when iwas playing, I didn't save and was halfway.....

In Firered the character talks when he sees the guard sleeping.

I hate fakemon and for the most part, new tiles because they empty the feel for me. I don't use new tiles in my hack (NOT because I don't know how - I add buildings and stuff to suit my needs) but because I want to keep the 3rd gen feel.

  • What annoys me is the map errors which clearly can be seen by the hacker but was not changed..
and another the stryline,i likes mostly all the story of hacks available now but what i don't like is how the story sounds not logical like the timeline, million years ago a pokemon was seald and now revive to destryed the world,at least make it a thousand years or 100..lol..
i could care less about the tiles,if the tiles looks good, then it is good.
Fakemon,i love them,if they looks good not the crappy one,if the fakemon is crappy, make it look good and not insert them as it will make the hack look bad.
Fakemons and pokemon are the same no difference, its just the original pokemon are officially made by whoever make them..lol

  • I hate it when:

    - The maps/tiles look bad.
    - The sprites/overworlds look terrible.
    - There are too many grammatical errors.
    - Original scripts are used.
    - When Fakémon's look terrible.

  • Please don't bump month-old threads. There's an active thread for 'what in you dislike about hacks etc.' You can use that for this purpose.
