![[PokeCommunity.com] Legends of Abyllia [M] (OOC) [PokeCommunity.com] Legends of Abyllia [M] (OOC)](https://i.imgur.com/6RAdNcI.jpg)
This is a map of the region that constitutes Abyllia. It is divided up into 12 holds, or territories, that act as separate entities, while still under the the banner of the Abyllian royal family. Each hold has it's own government, culture, and history, making for very different lifestyles and experiences.
Holds (Regions)
Spoiler:
Raycrest
Raycrest is home to the crown, and has been for almost 100 years. Since the reign of Landor, "The King of Rags", Raycrest has been risen from being one of the poorest lands in Abyllia, to being by far the richest. only being rivaled by Fairley. The Vale
The oldest and most historic of Abyllia's holds. Formerly home to the crown, the Vale has far too much history to be told in a single page. From the Battle of the Old King, to the Elven Purge, the tales of the Old Vale are ingrained in the minds of even the youngest of Abyllia's residents. Even upon it's rebranding following the crown's move to Raycrest during the reign of king Landor Barker, some still address the hold as 'Old Vale'. Since then, however, the land has certainly lost some of its influence in the kingdom. It still however retains it's notability as one of the and safest places to live in all of Abyllia, due to the population of warriors and soldiers living there.Westlake
The home of refined culture. While it's neighbor, the vale, is littered with some of Abyllia's most historic moments, Westlake is where much of the history has been recorded. Westlake is known for it's wealth of knowledge, information and the wide variety of skills that are taught there. Westlake college, teaches practically every art form a person could possibly want to learn, and has produced to Abyllia's most intelligent men. Whitehaven
Whitehaven stands alone in the northern continent. It is easily the largest hold within Abyllia. Also known as 'The White Lands', it is constantly covered in snow. As a result, the streets are dulled with blacks and greys to contain warmth. Beast taming is a common trade in the northern part of the continent, creatures such as: Wolves, winged beasts, Sabre Cats and even mammoths have been known to be trained. Fairley
The second richest, and the third largest kingdom in Abyllia. Though they have one of the largest armies of any hold in the land, they rarely find themselves involved in the conflicts of their Abyllian brothers. This is due to the fact that the mindset of the hold is very inward focused, causing people to be less concerned with outsiders. Despite being so far north, Fairley is known for beautiful greenery, and specializes in the use of potions, poisons, remedies and other alchemical produce. With it's vast range of organic wild life, ingredients for such things are easy to come by. Fairley set the standard for female rights in Abyllia, being the first hold to openly accept female fighters. Since the appointment of Queen Cherylin many holds have followed in Fairley's footsteps.Voltemere
When the sky dragon Voltmere arrived in Abyllia, it was this land that he and his fellow dragons inhabited. Many of the residents of Fairley(Purist believers) were outraged by the audacity of the dragons, especially Voltmere himself, who had the nerve to claim the land as his own. The surrender of the residents of Fairley didn't take long as they were quickly overpowered by the fearsome beasts. Those who occupied Fairley were given their share of land, and the chunk that was removed was renamed Voltmere. In the crypts beneath Voltmere, lie the remains of many a dragon who passed away in the Abyllia uprising, perhaps the most historic war the land has ever known.Highwynne
Since the Elven Purge, Abyllia's Elf population is at an all time low. Only Highwynne retains a decent Elven population. This shows in the hold's architecture: The buildings touch the skies, the metals are strange and foreign, and the ground seems to breed gold. Highwynne is certainly the most fruitful hold in regards to metal trades. It is also the only hold that has a Temple of Varnoll.Ironmist
The men of the sea. Ironmist is the closest modern settlement to the eastern lands. It's name derives from the thick mist that sits over it. This mist seems to come in from the east, and mixes with the smoke of famous sea forges of Ironmist. Those forges are known as some of the best in Abyllia and have forged many legendary blades. Children from Ironmist are made to smith their first blade from a young age, and weaponcraft is part of the culture of the hold.Dagger Lands
The dagger lands are the furthest known Western lands in Abyllia besides Highwynne. Despite the region's name, the burly warriors of the Dagger Lands are more likely to use axes and broadswords in combat. The name actually refers to the knife-like shape of the islands that make up most of the territory. The people of the Dagger Lands place very little value on education, instead training their young to become fierce fighters. This is the only hold to still openly reject the idea of female warriors, despite the decree of Queen Cherylin.Southden
Southden is split in half by Abyllia's largest mountain range. The eastern side is mountainous and rocky, while the east is dry, arid, and sandy. A naturalistic mix of civilization and nature, and the perfect place for a hunter: Which is just what Southden breeds. The hold is known for it's wide variety of wildlife and terrain, as well as it's vast markets and unique landmarks.Wellhurst
In Wellhurst, hope is sparse. The region has recently suffered a great famine, and failing crops means imports are the only source of food. This does not bode well for residents, considering many are struggling financially because of all the trouble. In addition, a dark legend haunts the hold, one that speaks of an assassin cult known as "The Hand of the Reaper". Life in Wellhurst is becoming more and more bleak, and until something changes, it looks to get worse.Summereach
Summereach is known for its heat, and that's not just to describe the weather. From it's women, to the style of combat, Summereach has a reputation for levels of flavor and flair seen nowhere else in Abyllia. Everything in Summereach is light and exotic, from the clothes, housing and furnishing, weapons and armour. Traders and merchants are prominent here.Legends
There is much to do in this large and spacious land, whether you are a warrior looking for great battle, an explorer looking to find places no one has yet seen, or maybe just looking to find your own destiny. That is not to say the Abyllia is not in need of you. Who knows what lies in wait, ready to throw the world in chaos? Whatever your goals, you have the opportunity to become truly great. Will you become a legend of Abyllia?
