I played video games for a good 10 years now, and I played about 500 matches online with Halo 3. I think I'm a hardcore gamer as well as a douchebag by now.

175310. I've been gaming consistently for 12 years, but I had computer games prior to that. I mostly preferred to spend my time creating pictures with the computer, drawing on maps, or playing with my die-cast cars at that age, though.

My games from the first five or so years really tended to be in the genres where, even now, the PC is a far superior experience:

Sim City 2000*** - Fantastic game, even in 1998, when I got it.
Civilization II*** - Fun game, and my first experience at a strategy game.
Sim City 3000*** - Fantastic follow up game to SC2K. Improved gameplay mechanics, too.
Roller Coaster Tycoon*** - I absolutely loved the concept of building and running my own theme park.
Civilization III - Much improved over II.
Age of Empires II - The ambiance scared me, but I really did enjoy watching my dad play over his shoulder at 8/9, and I actually started playing it a year or two later.
The Sims - Very intuitive and amusing game. I loved to build houses more than I actually controlled my Sims, though.
Empire Earth - I thought it was a cool RTS, and I liked the fact that it didn't just focus on the medieval era, or the future like StarCraft, or fantasy like Warcraft.
Sim City 4*** - My all-time favorite. A ton of great gameplay mechanics, and its easily modded nature really gave it a second life after the first six months of playing.
Moto Racer - A very good racer for its time, even if it seemed OTT with some things.

*** = Game I spent a disproportionate amount of my time playing.

And then there were the Pokemon games for when I wasn't allowed on the computer.
